If I don't vote at all, I have no say in the matter.
I would say the first amendment let's us know otherwise.
I have no legitimate right to complain about the actions of the elected body because I didn't put anything at stake.
First part already covered, second part (putting anything at stake) is up to each individual. If you participate in game of choosing the lesser of two evils, and I don't participate in the same game, it doesn't mean I have nothing at stake in the larger game (life, liberty, pursuit of happiness - via vaping). While it does mean that you chose evil, and I chose not to participate in that aspect of the larger game.
People complain all the time that "I didn't vote for so-and-so" but at least if they voted, they did something to have their opinion count. "I don't vote because they're all bozos" is subjugating yourself to whatever you get, and you have no right whatsoever to complain about it.
Oh the discussions we could have on this. IMO, your choice of evil (or whatever that choice is currently spun as) means you have no legitimate way of helping to fix the system, until you forego the desire to keep contributing to that.
As we are on a vaping forum, then lemme know how either of the two parties have thus far offered up a way to resolve the situation with vaping right/regulations in America? Cause thus far for 2016 election rhetoric, it is not even registering at the national level. Let's hope that changes, soon.
So my context of "productive" is voting to be heard and have something at stake, even if you can't agree with all of the platform a candidate runs on.
By the way you are using productive, I am proud to not be productive, in this way. Strongly appears to be exacerbating the problem facing us, than fixing it. If you have information that would suggest otherwise, as it relates to vaping, please let me/us know.
