I have a Russian 91% and a kfl2+, and they're great mtl tanks. But I absolutely hate the filling method, and I'm not too crazy about the airflow ajustment either. Although it's not the biggest issue.
But most importantly they don't keep up well with thicker juices, which I prefer.

Right now I'm thinking about getting either the squape x, with the sc deck, or the kayfun v4.
What are your experiences with those two?

I have a stack of Kayfun 3.1, KF Lite Plus V2, and KF 4. My favorites are the V2 and the 3.1. The KF4 is OK once you get used to assembling the parts, but for me the other Kayfuns are just simple to build and maintain and easy to fill.

I like the Squape (R)eloaded for its air flow control ring. It's easy to adjust and leave where you like it.

I agree that there are way too many DTL tanks out today. Not everyone wants huge clouds. After all, we stealth vape when we are out of the house. It's hard to stealth vape a cloud machine and not be stared at.

There's something for everyone if you shop around. The good part about cloud vaping being popular is that you can Google search for rebuildables on sale and find lots of $10 and under deals on MTL rebuidables. I picked up a couple of Kayfun Lite Plus V2's a while back for $4.95 each and KF 3.1 for $9.95. It's a shopper's world if you are into MTL tanks. Get 'em while they are cheap!

After venturing into DL and deciding not for me (at least 98% of the time) I have returned to MTL flavor vaping for a multitude of reasons (moderation, juice consumption, battery consumption, enjoy it more, etc.)

I've landed on the following tanks (all clones except 1 Squape R(s))being in MY permanent stock:
  • Calix V2
  • Phenomenon Lite
  • Hurricane
  • Squape R(s)
  • Erl mini
  • KFV3 mini (and the plus clone)
  • KFV3 Plus
Others that didn't make my list but other people absolutely swear by:
  • Taifun GT2
  • Rose V2s (and V2)
  • Ubertoot
  • Gob mini V1
  • Gem
  • Pico
CloudOne is next on my list to try out.

You can't go wrong trying any and all of these as a clone and then if love can add the authentic if you so choose.

I have the V5, V3 (Plus) and a bunch of old KFL2+ - I am a very "extreme" MTL vaper who likes airflow very, very tight. You will laugh, the best OVERALL experience after weeks of comparing all the Kayfuns is still the KFL2+

+100% :thumb:

I am looking hard at the Rose V3. It will prolly be my next MTL purchase. They took all the things I did not like about the V2 and made it whole. I have well over 20 supposed MTL RTA's and without fail I always go back to the KFL+ as the best over all. And to piggy back another thread I just started, anyone know of a vendor that will fashion a P3 threaded base for the KFL+? Dont want to hear about the V4. Not my cup of rum. :)

Oh, the Mini V3 gets a very honorable mention. It's far superior to the V5 in performance IMHO; however, the lack of a decent juice reservoir keeps it as a desk-only tank for me. (I know, I know, but I just plain dislike not like being able to see my juice level on the all metal tanks)

Of all the kayfuns I have tried the old 5Pawns version beats them all. Perfect flavor and throat hit because of the shortened chimney. There is no whistling sound either, unlike the KFL. Capacity of 3 ml is perfect for me. So is the somewhat restricted air flow; just right for MTL. Not even the KM V3 measures up to the 5Pawns.

I still run my KFL+ nano chimney/bell cap version though I did drill the AFC and 510 to 5/64ths. Agree that flavor is much better with nano chimney.

VERY interesting, I actually have a nano kit somewhere in my spares. I might try this out.
As for whistling, I remember I had ONE which whistled but I somehow could solve it...possible simply with adjusting airflow or "sucking out" leftover juices from the air hole with tissues. I did something and it stopped whistling. I also have some with two airholes, it might be placebo, but I swear I get a better MTL experience by taping shut one of the holes. Some of my KFL+ look very ghetto with duct tape and stuff all over them, but I still prefer them to my V5 and V3 :)

Edit: Yeah I just built a Nano, BIG difference, especially how hot the vape is now. I can now turn down wattages even more and flavour keeps.
(I had translucent tank spares bought from FT a long time ago, but they were too short so I had no use for them Guess what...they are exactly the right size for the Nano:) Vaping at 10W now, I can't get over it that I can get good flavour at only 10W, amazing. Used to vape my KFL at 15W-ish.
Vaping at 10W *might* also help so it doesn't go through juice as fast plus it might help preventing coil gunk. Will see. Vaping my DIY TPA DRY4 mix, it now has the "kick" to it which I never had with the V5 or V3. I can now clearly taste a "caremely" note in the juice.

I get awesome flavor and a nice cool vape at 8 watts. It's been my sweet spot for years. I can't help but roll my eyes listening to the bros talking about 200+ watt vaping[emoji849]

Hey Jim,

When you mention the lack of however a decent juice reservoir on the KFMV3 I'm not following what you mean on that one. Forgive my ignorance, but what does that mean?

Just that I work 12+ hours daily and I find the 2mls a pain. My options are all metal tanks that up the juice held to 3-4 mls at the expense of not being able to see my juice level or juice flow portals. Just whining, pay me no mind[emoji2]

Haha, no worries.

My experience with the KFMV3 has been that it is SO simple to add juice that it is a non-issue, whereas adding juice on a KFL+ (bottom screw fill) is an uber-pain in comparison.

I'm loving the KFMV3 and so glad that the co. is continuing to innovate for us MTLers.

Gotcha... yeah, that is incorrect. In fact, with the clone you can get all kinds of colors :)

Here is a shot of my clone:

here is link to authentic with glass tank showing:

No idea what he meant then, lol.I never tried the one you linked,i need at least a 4ml tank. The more i read people say you can't dial down the Kayfun V5 the more i think my clone is a alien tank! I get amazing flavor and can dial it way lower than i need. MTL at low watts it really is vaping heaven to me.

That is good news... I hear very conflicting accounts, some who love it as a MTL with great flavor and some who say the flavor does not match up because of the large size of the deck/chamber/chimney.

I'm still holding off for a bit until the MTL kit is available via a clone but definitely tempted :)

Which clone do you have?

How is it on juice consumption in your MTL config?

I have a Tobeco and a sxk but have only yet used the Tobeco.I like it so much i have another on it's way from Hawaii.Really good quality clone. The sxk looks fine, only thing i can see is a slightly wobbly drip tip.I got the original spare oring and screw kit from origin vape and replaced the deck screws but have not needed the o rings yet.The screws it came with seemed fine but i wanted to be sure. The juice consumption is pretty average i would say.It is not the cheapest clone but shipped to Pennsylvania in four days and i think worth every cent. Here is the link and 10% off with coupon code 10percentoff if you are ever interested. It does come with spare screws orings and a spare glass tank besides the metal tank.

Do you have the V3 mini and how do you compare the flavor/vape between the 2?

No i do not have the mini,i am put off by the small juice capacity. I normally vape the Merlin and this is way better for MTL in terms of restricted airflow and flavor. That is kind of weird because with restrictor the Merlin is 2.4 mm and the Kayfun is 3.2mm but i can dial the kayfun down more.I still use the Merlin and put the Kayfun drip tip on it which helps a little. I am pretty new to rebuilding but i will be sticking with the Kayfun v5.
