I am looking hard at the Rose V3. It will prolly be my next MTL purchase. They took all the things I did not like about the V2 and made it whole. I have well over 20 supposed MTL rta's and without fail I always go back to the KFL+ as the best over all. And to piggy back another thread I just started, anyone know of a vendor that will fashion a P3 threaded base for the KFL+? Dont want to hear about the V4. Not my cup of rum. :)

I'm not so sure I would consider the Rose v3 a MTL tank anymore. The air hole underneath the coil is even LARGER than the KF5's air hole, and we all know how well the KF5 worked for MTL before the MTL kit arrived. I believe the Rose v3 has a 3.5mm hole under the coil, vs the KF5s 3.2 mm hole.

Its unfortunate, because everything else about it seems excellent.

The Calix v2 is still on my radar. I've been meaning to get one but haven't yet. The Origen Tiny or the Origen 19/22 Tank are probably going to be my next purchases though. I feel like side airflow gives the widest range of options because adjusting the AFC on a side airflow config ACTUALLY reduces the size of the hole hitting the coil, which is crucial for a pleasant MTL vape. The force of air hitting the coil is key to a smooth, pleasant vape.

And there are other factors that determine flavor also that people who are just coming to MTL don't consider... like deck and chimney size. These, even more so than airflow, can effect the flavor of the vapor. A small, tight, short area of vaporization and travel gives killer flavor. It is a big factor in what made the flavor monsters of the past (relative, not so distant) so successful at flavor (KF, Rose, Squape, Erl, etc.) Even more than airflow I would wager.

I hope you are wrong on the Rose V3 but I wouldn't be surprised TBH.

Got a clone about 2 weeks ago and haven't put it down since. It is currently my absolute #1 RTA, great features and exceptional flavor!

they are exactly the right size for the Nano:) Vaping at 10W now, I can't get over it that I can get good flavour at only 10W, amazing.

Amazing how much difference a short chimney can make - just a couple of millimeters, and the flavor goes way up. So does the throat hit because of the increased temp.

Agree, in a perfect world the AFC takes place directly in front of the coil. I'm almost exclusively vaping on Tiny Tanks for the past few months and they are outstanding performers. Btw they hold as much juice as a KFV3 Mini, in a much smaller package.

I have found that an easy fix for the airflow issue on some of the newer tanks is to simply modify the airflow channel with a Kayfun MTL plug or similar restricting gizmo (I've also used a micro-coil) that is easily fashioned. This does not work on all tanks due to the path the airflow may have to travel, but it works on most vertically designed airflow systems and I have been very happy with the results to date. JMHO and YMMV :)

As mentioned earlier, I'd never have thought that I'd vape with only 10W, but with the short chimney it's amazing.

Just for sh*ts and giggles, I dug out my KFMV5 (WITH the M2L kit, smallest hole) yesterday and compared.
Basically, at the same Wattage (same coil, same liquid etc...etc..) the KFMV5 has no flavor at all, it felt like sucking in hot air on the V5. This alone should be evidence that the V5 is extremely overrated , at least for M2L.

I guess it's simply that every device has a sweet spot, depending on size, chimney, chamber etc... and for the V5 it's definitely *not* low Wattages. (Just guessing, I'd say 16W++ for the V5, but then we're already leaving M2L territory)

The point with M2L is that less air (and I like it VERY limited!) pretty much requires lower wattage...respective higher wattage *require* more air. Also, with higher wattages of course then additional requirements like for the juice channels. EVERYTHING must be right and tuned optimally. This is why a DL/subohm device can never be optimal for M2L and a M2L device can never be optimal for DL.

IMO, the size of the chamber and chimney play more role in flavor than air does. Not that airflow isn't important but those tight chamber devices seem to be the absolute killer flavor machines.

This is why a DL/subohm device can never be optimal for M2L and a M2L device can never be optimal for DL.

Preach... this is NOT understood by many who simply believe by cutting air down a device becomes MTL/Flavor and by increasing air it becomes DL/Fog machine. Use the right tool for the right job, don't use a screwdriver to hammer in nails :)

Another point: If you do MTL and are anywhere from 8-15W (like most are), things like the size of the juice channels etc. matter MUCH LESS. This is why at such low wattages even a KFL2+ with the tiny juice channels is as good as or even better as a Kayfun V3, even with the V3 having improved juice feeding/channels. (The only difference, maybe, if you were to vape high VG juices, where the V3 is likely better). Differently spoken:MOST of the advantages of the V3 and V5 become only relevant at higher wattages. (But of course I still think the V3 is very "ok" and I love that I can refill it easier. It still guzzles juice very fast and I have reason to doubt that the version I have there really takes 3.5ml. Somehow feels much less)

Okay, so I think I'm going to stick with my kfl+. But I would like to upgrade it with a nano kit, and also an easier refill system. I've seen that there is some kfl topcaps that alow for top fill. Does anyone know if they work without fluting the chamber? Or is my money better spent on a ghost refill kit?
I'm hesitant to use a top fill on a tank that does not have a juice flow control system but some have success with the closing of the AFC and the turning upside down of the tank. I can't see that working very easily on a KFL.

That said, I love my KFL+ with nano chimney and bell cap (better flavor IMO from nano chimney) but agree would love it if I could fill it easier.

I agree with you; most MTL Vapers don't vape high VG Juice and usually under 15 Watts. Which fits me and I still vape a KFM v2.1 and like it; mounted on a Provari 1.0 (OG) 1.4ohm coil and 3.6v:lol::thumbs: I also like my Tilly's v2+ and the X1

Just a side thought. The Russian was built to take business away from Kayfun. Well Kayfun left the Russian way behind; matter of fact I can't recall the last time I heard of another version of the Russian coming out

A very interesting discussion so far... meanwhile some of us are happily vaping away with our Nautilus Minis running at 8 watts on our Kanger 40w boxes, MTL Tootle Puffer Style with 16- 18 strength juice and are having great vapes as we squirrel away 10 year stocks of coils... just sayin'

Well, I take back what I said earlier. The Rose 3 might actually end up being a decent little MTL tank. I thought the hole underneath the coil was 3.5mm, but turns out its actually 3mm with 3.5mm airflow control, full adjustability, and plans for different decks with different size holes (hinted by Eden Mods in the comments section). 3mm isn't an ideal size for MTL, but it should work fine, the SqR has a 3.1mm hole.

Coupled with more widespread availability, I might actually have to get one.

Absolutely. Love the Nautilus Mini! Give me a huge pile of coils and I might probably even prefer it to the Kayfuns :)

Plop a 1.8mm MTL plug in it and it should be golden. The air flow system lends itself to some restriction without any major side effects. At least in theory as I don't have me hands on one yet [emoji51]

Of all the kayfuns that I have ever tried, the Mini Plus beats them all in terms of flavor and throat hit. Better even than the Nano. Much smoother vape with the added benefit of Juice flow control and top fill. I have had it for a day, and so far no dry hits, leaks or flooding. This one is a winner.

$20.88 Kayfun V3 Plus 1.5 Styled RTA Rebuildable Tank Atomizer - 3.2ml / 316 stainless steel + glass / 22.5mm dia. at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

I take it you're referring to the V3 Mini Plus, I have the same. It is not "bad" per se but I still swear that the old KFL+ (especially the build with the super-short chimney) adds a kick to flavour that I don't have with the V3. There is something about the V3 airflow that I don't like (difficult to explain), but this may be subjective/placebo. That being said the V3 is "pretty ok", it sure also depends on what liquids you vape and on what W. (Right now I am actually using the V3 to test a new DIY mix)

I like the plus much better than the mini because of the slightly shortened chimney. I fully agree that the shorter the chimney the better flavor. It also has a better throat hit, if that is what you are into
