10 years vaping makes it sound like I have experience, but the truth is that I've been buying products and using them as is for a decade. I have no knowledge of what to do.
You can learn all you need to know here on this forum and on Youtube.

And I want to make sure I know enough not to kill myself quickly...
This place has accumulated several hundred thousand members over the years and I've yet to hear of any of them having killed themselves, so I think your odds are pretty good.

But since this is a thread for people who don't "prep" for one reason or another, start by reading the first page here. That thread has strayed quite a bit of late, but if you post there, I'm confident you'll get all the help you need.

There was a guy on here awhile back that killed himself when a mech mod exploded and put the atty through his face. I can't remember his name but he was on VU also.

I read about that incident, but was not aware he was a member here.

But even so, one out of a few hundred thousand is still way better odds than smoking. ;)

That's awful! What is a mech mod?

I'm leaning to agreeing. I used to get bronchitis a few times a year and got pneumonia a few times. Was on a nebulizer once. Smoking is not healthy.

This is a bit scary. What is a vanilla mod?
Technically the brand is Smok E Mountain. I dug mine out.

Probably coupled with a sub tank with mega low coils.

For the record I used this mod safely for quite a while. I used RDAs on it and 25Rs and kept my builds above .25 ohms. I don't use it because I have much better devices now. Newer mech mods are much better made and better ventilated than many of the older ones.

I loved my Vanilla mod when I had it. I agree with those that said he used it incorrectly (paraphrased). If you are going to use a mech mod, learn Ohm's law, understand battery safety, and don't take for granted that you'll be safe while being stupid. For instance: trying to coil an atty after a liter of vodka on an rda at .025 using a low amperage 18650 battery on a mech mod is not a good idea. This is not what happened, afaik, but I'm surprised this hasn't happened in the past ten years.

IIRC the one in Florida was a sub ohm tank. A lot of those have .15 coils which could be way too low for a lot of 18650s. Sometimes dud coils can make it.through QC. A dud coil could be an inconvenience for somebody using a regulated mod. If the coil is a dud due to a short, that could be disasterous on a mechanical. I have used clearomizers on mechmods before I knew better. I was fortunate somebody showed me before I learned the hard way.
IIRC the guy in Texas had just had someone at the shop rebuild his atty.
I remember people doing some stupid stuff back in the day of cloud comps and I am surprised more bad things didn't happen.

What are SXK Doggystyles? What do they do? Where would I get nic pg/vg? I know I prefer th to clouds, so I'd want more pg. And I want to make sure I know enough not to kill myself quickly...
Okay, you've been sufficiently scared off from using mech's it sounds like. No worries, IMO they're really only suitable for someone dedicated enough to use them safely, not someone that just wants to diy juice & coils.

Here's a link to posts I recently made to someone in a situation similar to yours, getting started with Reubuildable Tank Atomizers:Current state of regulations? There are ton of others you can find.

I've bought nic from Wizard Labs, Nude Nicotine, and Heartland Vapes. All of them will have PG & VG, but so do most of the flavor companies I believe. No need to stock up big on PG & VG- save your money for the nic & hardware. I only do NET tobaccos, but used to buy flavors from Bull City Flavors, Nicotine River (I believe they're called River Supply now).

I noticed you're on some other threads now, so that's good. But don't hesitate to ask anyone specific questions as you learn.

IMO regulated mods aren't suitable for someone that just wants to DIY juice and coils, as regulated mods still also require more than just a little bit of dedication to use them safely, just not as much dedication as a mech, but then again... most people who use a regulated mod aren't using it safely, which has sufficiently scared me off from people who use a regulated mod and who try to insinuate that regulated mods are suitable for those who just want to DIY juice and coils, not want to care about battery safety.
