All these newer MTL RTAs (Berserker, Siren V2 etc.) "better" than good ol' Kayfun Lite?

T for Texas!
The Spheroid V4 has risen to be my favorite device and I was able to acquire a few after the closing of Vapourart :(

But I still like having a few others to rotate in and out:
  • KFL (and 2.1)
  • Erlkonigin
  • Berserker 22
  • SXK Doggy
Have enough of all the above that my kids will be selling them off in an estate sale :)

And, still have but don't run as often:
  • Gem V1
  • Spheroid V3
  • Gus Zest V1
  • Gus Aiolos

If any of you have been sitting on the fence and haven't tried a Berserker yet...this is a super opportunity to get 1 (or more), without spending much at all. Vapor Range has the 24mm size on sale for just $14.95. If you use the code "holiday10percent"...you get another 10% off = $13.46! They only have it left in Black now though, if color matters. They have Free S/H sitewide, too! Can't beat that total price for it anywhere!

Vandy Vape Berserker MTL RTA | 2ml 24mm mouth to lung atomizer

Then you should absolutely love the Berserker...both the full size and the Mini. They have 5 different AF sizes to choose from, and the smallest is only 0.8mm.

The Berserkers are hands down my all-time, absolute favorite, MTL RTAs. They meet and/or exceed every criteria I'd have, for 1 to be my favorite for the longhaul: flavor that's terrific, amazingly smooth vapor, a variety of AF hole sizes, an easy build deck, they don't leak, they're well-built, they're stingy on eliquid use, a compact size, and the drip tips are great feeling in my mouth. Added bonuses, to me, are that the 24mm comes with 2 different size tanks in 2 different materials, as well as 2 drips tips made of different materials. Bonuses for the Minis are the 3 different tanks and 2 different drip tips they come with. Also, each size Berserker comes in 4 different colors. I've yet to find anything I don't like about them.

Since trying my first one (a 24mm) about 4 months ago...they are my preferred all day every day tanks. Many other tanks just sit there unused now. I've stashed enough for my lifetime and probably a few friends, too. I don't even look at or consider buying any other MTL tanks now, because I finally don't need to! :)
That is an incredible price and free shipping! If it was 22mm I'd grab another.

I do prefer the 22 mm version of the Siren V2 by a slight margin. For me, to get good flavor I have to open the airflow quite a bit, so it can be a thirsty tank. With that said, even with more frequent refills, I like it a great deal. I like the 24 mm too and I think the vape is similar enough that probably, if you really want capacity, the 24 mm is just fine, but I have a slight preference for the 22 mm version, yes. :)

Yep...especially considering that the Berserker clones at FT now are within pennies of that $13.46 for the authentic ones at Vapor Range.

@DancingHeretik - Truth be told...I was bad. Even though I had plenty of both sizes of Berserkers before, I couldn't resist adding "just a few more" last weekend, at that $13.46 price. :D

Thanks Anna, I was a little bummed l heard in another forum, that the 22 was sub par to the Siren V2 24. I spent a bit of my modest vape budget on something that could have gone towards a new set of 18650's for myself.... Any tips on wicking? I use SS316L and vape at lower wattages.

What a week this has been:)

Everyone has an opinion on the Siren, LOL. It's a velocity deck so not super hard to wick or coil. I use rayon, and I keep it fairly tight in the coil, then thin the wicks considerably. It is not necessary (IMO) to have the wicks travel all the way to the bottom of the tank, once I get them nicely rounded I keep them maybe 3-4 mm below the deck itself. Juice sloshes around enough for wicking to continue. Mine have never leaked, unless the wick is near the end of its useful life, I usually get leaks before burnt.

Keep in mind that rayon shrinks when wet, and cotton expands, so I really stuff fairly tight in the coils but I have actually found wicks way easier to keep thin and get good wicking (less wick to saturate so it has good capillary action. Too much wick/tail is going to make it hard to seat the deck, and you have to tuck it into place.

I get best flavor by leaving a slight amount of play in my coil legs, then tug up (gently) a few mm or so, with the rod or screwdriver or whatever you use still in the coil. That gives me a nice, slightly rounded coil that will allow the wicks to fall nicely slightly humped down into the deck. Flavor is better when the coil is a hair raised above the airholes and etc.

Good luck! I'm sure you will do fine.

Here's a list of my MTL RTA's i use in daily rotation :
1) Kayfun V4
2) Kayfun V4
3) Kayfun V4
4) Kayfun V4
5) Kayfun V4
6) Kayfun V4
7) Kayfun V4
8) Kayfun V4

All juiced up ready to go.

Problems with airflow : none, (Once the airflow is set it never needs to be adjusted). It can be as tight or as loose as i want it to be. There aren't any doubts as to whether it can be "tight enough" unlike the V5 or the Prime.

I think maybe those guys at "Svoemesto" may have lost their minds at some point after the V4. All i hear these days about the latest Svoemesto RTA's, from lots of posts in ECF, are issues about airflow. Now why is that ?. I did my research, didn't like what i read so didn't buy one. I just went and bought more V4's. Why Svoemesto switched out the screw for what they have now is a mystery. It worked perfectly fine already. Now all i read is about airflow issues, fix's etc. How difficult is it to take out the contact screw and turn the airflow screw ?. As opposed to a new design which doesn't close the airflow enough for most people who have used one, and have posted about how it isn't tight enough, so they either sold it, or it just sits in a drawer somewhere.

Problems with wicking : none, (never leaks, no dry hits).

I'll re-wick everytime the tank empties. It's convenient to clean the base, chimney and mouthpiece while i'm at it.

I never have any problems with the V4. It doesn't need to be completely dismantled to clean because i don't clean out the inside of the tank (maybe once every six months) so the fact it's made of a trillion component parts is neither here nor there. Whether it is top filling or not makes no difference to me because i go to the trouble of re-wicking and cleaning when it's time to fill anyway, so it's far more complicated than it needs to be when it comes to refilling. It's now routine !.

And it never gets jammed !.

I took up vaping after the Kayfun V4, but your experience reminds me of the old saying, "Beware of a man who only owns one gun". That's because they know it inside out, and exactly how it should be used.

I love the Kayfun Prime clones I have, they just work, don't leak and give excellent flavor. I really like the juice control flow feature. One thing I am learning is not to judge a tank until you give it a fair chance, in terms of coils, wicking, adjustments, and even different juices. The Primes seem to be a quite "forgiving" tank, an all round MTL that don't require a lot of tuning to give good results.

My daily rotation at this point is a hodge podge hmm, lets try this one approach between a number of different atty's. This week I have taken a bit more systematic approach. I got some new e-liquids, and decided to try them by putting the same liquid into a number of different atty's to see how they vary in the flavor they produce. Not done yet, but it's an interesting experiment.

I have Siren2 and love it. Very good flavour and draw control...from very, very, very tight draw on single smallest hole to very airy on all 5 holes open. You can use single holes or same as Nautilus 2 combination of five holes. I like to vape on 3 smalest holes open (it perfectly simulate draw from actual cigarette) and cannot even imagine how somebody could enjoying to vape on single smallest hole.
You can even get a partial hole open, if you want nearly no air!(Siren v2)

Hi, Anna. What coil setup on the Sirenv2 22mm? Are you doing temp control? I only have Wattage ctl. currently, and would like input on what people are using as far as gauge, wraps, spaced or no, and etc.

Uh, I can't remember exactly what builds I have in there at the moment. I think one was a self-made coil, 28 gauge ss, about 8 wraps and about 1.0 resistance, contact coil. The other is a spaced SS coil but it was 3 wraps. Pretty sure it was 2.0 mm in diameter, but I'm not sure of the gauge, it was prewrapped. I find a resistance around 1.0--0.8 rather nice in the Siren. I also use rayon wicking. I've used the tank both ways (temp and wattage) which is why I like SS. I really only need to use temp control mode if I'm out with fewer vapes to rotate, it's usually the only time I hit "temp protect" at my puny wattages and ramp up times.

I have been using a Berserker along with my KF5 and Russian. I will occasionally use an Erilkonigin that I paid way too much for. I find the Berserker to be a pretty good RTA given the price. I tend to get a little flooding when refilling it but I think that is because of the screw on top cap. I find the air flow good and not loud or any whistling. The mouthpiece is comfortable also.

While I agree with you about the Kayfun 4 I'd never ever put someone new to building on one, and most people who are experienced shy away from it because of the abundance of parts..

It's an awesome tank though, still one of my favorites. I do have to say the ease of the Hastur makes it preferable even to me who loves the four very much..

As a matter of fact, the Hastur was the only reason I put down the Kayfun 4, and I had bought the Kayfun 5 and the Taifun GT3 as well..

If you'll bottomfill instead of topfilling...you'll have no more flooding, gurgling, or other things some people have had some problems with. You have to take a piece off either way, to refill it. Bottomfilling also gives you a chance to see the condition of your coil and wick then, too.

It's NFL Draft Day, which has nothing to do with it, but for whatever reason, I am running three Doggystyles today. Two have liquids from Glas in them - Strawberry Gummy (a sour/sweet candy) and Caribbean Punch (fruity of course), and the third is filled with Custard De Leche (quickly becoming addicted to this) from Adore. The doggy's handle the spectrum of flavors with equal aplomb. I love my Kayfuns, but man these little tanks are excellent as well.

The designs are almost opposites, the Primes being beautiful examples of complex machining with brilliant liquid flow control, highly adjustable air control, top filled, and great flavor production.

The doggy's are such a simple (but also ingenious) design featuring polycarbonate, no liquid flow control, limited range of airflow control, bottom filled, and yet also have great flavor production.

Go figure, it goes to show there can be quite different ways of designing superb MTL tanks.

So, for all the people who aren't already stocked up for life, the cry is to find something new that's just as good as the KFL. Same draw and flavor, but still available. And, if possible, easier to fill. And maybe even a little shorter and cuter.
S. X. K. Doggystyle. (clone from FastTech). It's been said, but I'm saying it again. I hardly ever use my KFL's anymore since I got one. I don't know about "strictly better," but how about "at least as good, and maybe a little easier to use at times."

Same draw (check - I use my KF "wide open" and the Doggystyle is adjustable from "a bit more than that" all the way down to almost nothing) and flavor? (I use unflavored when I MTL but even unflavored has some flavor, and that tastes just as good to me)
Sill available: www.fasttech.com/p/6353800 (use code "MAP" for 3.61 off listed price)
Easier to fill: standard clearomizer "unscrew-the-bottom-part-from-the-tank" filling, you can even access the coil without emptying the tank.
Shorter and cuter - judge for yourself:

(it's about the same size as those little stubby KF bell caps -- not the domed ones but the flat-top ones. In fact it looks a lot LIKE one of those, but still has the easier filling and coil access.)
