No I don't think its off topic it actually goes right in hand with e liquids and at home made juices. People will assume its safe because they see it being offered in a store and often being sold by a store whos intent is to sell you something and many times they may sell you a device or liquid they know nothing about. That should be a concern of any vapers.

I do not want to be standing next to someone whose battery blows up, or has a health emergency due to some e liquid reaction because that person perceived it as safe but had no idea there's no regulations to check what's in the liquid.

Hey Bud. If your looking for a Savior I got just the Man for you.
But if you keep looking to your government to keep you out of trouble you are going to be very dissapointed.

Sometimes it is said that man cannot be trusted with the government of himself. Can he, then be trusted with the government of others?

You're the one who is arguing for FDA oversight. I'm just responding to your flawed reasoning and pointing out how FDA oversight would only limit our choices and solve none of the safety issues that you seem to have. Once again if you don't feel safe vaping...don't do it.

And I might point out as many others have...there is an FDA Regulation section in this forum that has lots of information. I highly suggest checking out some of the threads in there.

No I'm advocating for safety, something your Not understanding and are quite resistant to apparently. Calling my concerns for safety flawed reasoning is insulting and uncalled for and unacceptable. Perhaps being more courteous to others would benefit you in your interactions instead of telling me not to vape or where to go and read. I'm very informed and did not ask for your direction.

No I absolutely understand what you have been advocating. Your concerns of safety have been addressed numerous times. What is flawed are the numerous hypothetical situations you present which ultimately lead to "we need regulations" statement. I'm not sure you understand what being very informed really means.

I just trying to get across the safety issue not correlating them directly.

I think understand what you are trying to do. Just know that the tobacco industry is regulated and I don't think anyone is safer because of it. I don't know anything about you really, but I do know a little bit about vaping and I can tell you that what you seem to think you want will actually 86 what you want. The type of industry that you will get is already here, and this is not hypothetical -- they are sold by Altria, Reynolds and Lorillard. You can get down with them if you wish, but our open (FDA unregulated) way of vaping must stay that way, as much as it can for as long as it can.

Please concern yourself with someone else, now I've asked you more then once very politely, please move along. The topic is about at home made liquids and the Safety concerning them. Its not about you.

Of course e-juice should and will be regulated. I really don't want to vape something which could be far worse to inhale than cigarette smoke. There are worse things...

Eliquid, if regulated, likely will not be seen in any other form but saturated in an single use carto.

p.s. Sorry if what you said was in jest -- I couldn't tell.

Oh I'm not looking to be stuck with Blue or Njoy or others brands like that. I fully understand the issues at hand. I also understand that in reality only some of the regulations being proposed will actually happen. There's always a middle ground. But there seems to be a lot of people convinced that everything will be taken away, which is rarely the case.

If you really think that is how it will go, get ready for pre-filled cartos. Of course it will be regulated. It is a product which is ingested. It is quite surprising it has been un-regulated for as long as it has.

We all have choices to make, however many people make the wrong ones because they don't know any better, are misinformed, and often mislead or in other cases want to mislead others.

I sure don't want to buy some basement made liquid from a shop that's not being honest about where it came from. Anyone can open a pretty store, import all there liquid or buy it from Joe juicers basement, slap a made in USA label on it cause they stirred together the liquids, make up some story about their sterile lab they don't have, and sell you whatever they bottle. Hey there's no regulations so it doesn't matter what they add to it, its legal, so who cares. If it kills you or causes long term illness sorry for you, maybe you should have known there was risks, opps we used rat poision sorry the bucket of liquid we imported said nicotine our mistake, here's a free bottle see you again.

In reality you have legal recourse now against any business who knowingly or through neglect harms you. That really won't change with regulation. What will change is that regulators who have never vaped a day in their lives will set up all the rules.

No your wrong. The point is there are just no rules and that's dangerous to the public and it's insulting that anyone can bottle anything and sell it as e liquid.

I think its insulting that I can't go to a farm and buy milk fresh from a cow. That's regulated. Have you ever tasted fresh cow milk? I don't believe I have, but I want to, but big brother, or uncle Sam is keeping me safe. Thanks!

Dangerous? Have you ever been camping, it must me dangerous with all that dirt around. Let's not redefine dangerous.

Dangerous is not mixing in your kitchen, dangerous is mixing and using uncleaned .... thermometer to stir the mix.

Dangerous is selling you 48mg/ml nic in place of 3.

Of course we all understand that. Perhaps a quick review of etiquette and politeness would benefit you. There's no need for you to quote and react to every post I make. Its just not necessary.

If you fully understood the issues at hand, you would realize how the deeming proposals that the FDA has published will destroy the safe elquids that we currently are able to enjoy. Keep in mind too....once the FDA has regulatory control, they will continue pushing more regulations. It will be a never-ending battle until we are stuck purchasing FDA approved products made my Reynolds and other cig makers at the corner gas station. And of course we know how safe the cigarettes they sell are.

When was the last time rat poison was found in DIY liquid? Not once, ever? I think that is the answer. If it was I'm sure we would have heard from the media. It doesn't make a lot of sense, that someone, amateur or not, would do that. Yeah, let's poison customers and ruin our reputation. Great business plan there.

Everything you said applies to major juice companies as much as it applies to DIYers. You don't know where it's made, or if they are telling the truth about the quality of their ingredients. They don't even know usually. They use the same flavorings and the same PG and VG that DIYers use.

I see you're fond of Halo. I like some of their juices too. But I don't remember finding any test results on their website. Have they tested all their liquids for diacetyl, acetoin, acetyl propionyl, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, acrolein, diethylene glycol, ethylene glycol, coumarin, TSNAs, and so on? All the e-juice companies usually say their stuff is free from diacetyl. But a study found that it's actually in close to 75% of them. So you shouldn't just take their word as gospel. I actually started DIYing because I was trying to avoid all that stuff, not expose myself to more of it. It's clear that most companies either don't know what's in their juice, or they are lying about it. So what makes mass manufactured e-liquid more safe than DIY?

So you are convinced too? See how that works. You think that only some will happen, and others think that most will. But, those that think otherwise often times are knee-deep in this stuff. But, also know that if the middle ground or better happens it will be because of the fight brought about by people that believe the worse was going to happen. Strange how that works.

So this is off topic but I have tasted fresh cow milk and it is delicious. Highly recommend finding a local farmer where you can get some from.

That will be quite a case to argue and prove intent to harm when a person willingly purchased a product that may or may not be safe to ingest, that a store put on the shelf with no knowledge or intent to cause harm, and to prove that the use of the product was not a direct result of misuse by the consumer. I could go on all day but I think you see the point. Also the points your making about mixing are valid because no one is overseeing anything.

Who's to say that if a consumer buys a 6mg nic bottle however suppose that batch wasn't mixed correctly but instead was made with 100mg nic in the 30ml bottle and was imported from another country and caused illness or death to a consumer who relied on the product he bought to be safe. Are we then going to tell him to go hunt down the manufacturer and bring suit against them when you purchased a unregulated product without being aware of the possible risks because someone told you its a solution or safe alternative. I think most of you can see the problems here and understand that while this exact scenario isn't actual it could be.

I am pretty familiar with the supplement industry -- it has been around for quite awhile in it's current fashion -- and I can tell you it's fascinating (re: scary) what gets put on the shelves, and as bonafied health products!
