Well apparently I have a few batteries to throw away. What's the environmentally conscious way to go about doing that? Still going to run mine past a year if they don't look messed up but these are pretty dang old lol.

But just so you're all aware... I left a year old battery in a mod with a filled tank on it for about a year. It vaped fine but I did take the battery out last week. No it was not a mech, but yeah.

Careful where you stash your silica packs. I keep mine in mason jars with rice
'cause we have a high rate of ambient humidity as I suspect you do. I learned my lesson
when a bunch of them inside a ziplock in a kitchen drawer turned to silica porridge.

I take mine to Home Depot they have a bin there you can deposit them into, (individually bagged or wrapped in tape) they even accepted istick and pen battery mods with internal batteries that died. If you have one near you check to see if they take them at yours too.

Some of these people that act as if they represent us are working on systems we do not want and will not willingly buy.

There are people in the VTA that are saying they are working on our behalf, and they are working for companies that are working on closed systems that will replace open systems. i.e. RDA/RDTA/RTA/TANKS that you can fill would be killed off.

The OP in that thread is a wonderful person and so are the folks partaking in the thread.
Moreover if you check you'll note that I did post in that thread directing folks to the post I posted here.

However since I feel at home in this thread and I was reading this thread when I received the e mail
from Vapejoose I posted about it in this thread...See, what I did say is that I like this thread better which isn't the same as saying that I dislike the other thread...

I take mine to HD also. Between household batts, and ecig batts, it seems I always have a bunch.

I am lucky, our recycling accepts them, placed in baggie and put in the bin for glass recycle.

Back in May I got rid of all my original 18650, 18350, and 14500 batteries which were between 5 and 6 years old. They all still held a charge, not for as long they did years ago, but still doing ok. They all had the lower amperage which wasn't usually a problem for what I vape at but I did have to pay attention to which I was using with different atty's so it was time to clean out the old stuff.

I think I've averaged one battery per year that I've gotten rid of because for some reason I questioned if it was still safe to use. Most recently I got rid of an 18650 because I left my Reo in the car while shopping and it was EXTREMELY hot when I got back to the car Ya, I know, my stupid for leaving it in the car My theory about batteries has always been- When in doubt, throw it out ! I did get rid of a few batteries through the years because of torn wrappers. Now that I have wraps I just rewrap them and keep on using them

Currently have six 18650's in rotation and three 18350's in rotation.

I'm overly cautious with batteries. I buy 8 18650s at the end of the year, usually during a Black Friday sale. I rotate through these batteries for a year, removing what needs to be taken out of service. So far this year I've had to remove 1 battery because it developed a dent on the bottom. At the end of the year I buy 8 new ones and dispose of the first batch. Yes, it's overkill but for me it's a small price to pay to ensure that my batteries aren't on their last legs. My other size batteries I do use for 2-3 years before disposing of them. However, they're not in my daily hot rotation use.

Why would this be an issue?

Regardless of the type of system being developed (and yes, POD systems ARE going to be the future of vaping), just because you don't want to use the product doesn't mean these individuals are working against us.

For the majority of new vapers, closed systems that really work would be a very good thing.

I agree. I don't think it is a straight up either/or situation. I have no problem with good closed systems, I think they have their market, too. And I'd rather there be competition for BT. The rest of the world is not subject to FDA regs, therefore open systems will still be available. And I haven't given up hope that they will be here in the US as well.

Yep, to all of it... I threw one out just because it fell from the top of my truck. It looked like a depression had formed - no way I was going to test it... And I rewrap at any sign of wear... For 10cents why not...

Yea, I don't put things on top of my truck anymore - the list of things is long that I have lost from doing it...

I know more than a few vapers that throw out ALL of their batteries at the 1 year mark. Kinda like replacing the batteries in your smoke detectors. Good idea if you only have 3-4 batteries, I guess.

When my batts were new they would last almost 2 days (tootle puffer) and now they will still last over 1.5 days (4 yrs) - I see no need to replace them.

My batt care is as follows now - started it a long time ago. While my batts will last 1.5 - 2 days I only use them for one day at a time. I swap them every morning, which means I am never draining them to a low level.

I also never overcharge them - I am very careful with this. I try to follow the Batt University rules for care of them...

I watched the video, I saw a lot of problems with what was said. Why would I not have a problem with the fact that the same person out there "fighting FDA regulation" for vapors stands to gain the most from those same exact regulations?

I have no problems with someone making a closed system product. That is however not the person I want representing me in any way shape or form.

Some of what he said made little or no sense. He said you cannot change the language in the Cole-Bishop amendment, then went on to say that is exactly what they were currently working on. He said that the Cole-Bishop amendment would change nothing in the long term, but that it was absolutely imperative that everyone support it. How does that work out exactly?

I'll have to see a final verdict of the court cases before I call anything "The future of vaping." And I won't be spending a single solitary cent on any company posturing to take over the vape industry, with what appears to be insider knowledge.

I bought a JUUL last year and then picked up a second one from the classies. It's ok but it could never entirely replace my open systems. For someone starting out though it might get them off the cigs. And it's actually pretty great as a small stealth device(which is why I bought it). If I had to rely on it as my all the time vape I'd probably use at a minimum 2 pods a day. So yeah, there's the expense of it. But the pods can be hacked to be refilled it seems. So, I'll be trying that the next time I finish one.

We are ok. We are south of the Pass a few miles and the fire is burning out toward the desert areas to the north/northeast. Wrightwood is still in danger. 82,000 people have been evacuated, and quite a few won't have homes to go back to tho. I feel so sorry for what they are going thru. Thanks for the concern, and well wishes.

Since I don't use youtube very often,(actually just since the deeming) so you are probably noticing stuff more rapidly than I would.

The current on market open systems are not and really never have been mass marketed on tv(don't know about youtube). I have only ever seen ads on tv for the cig-a-likes.

I am really surprised that open coffee making systems have not been made illegal since Keurig came along.
