I don't remember doing much of anything during the swine flu outbreak, just keeping my hands clean as I normally do. Our city stored a bunch of sanitizer, masks,gloves and such at our plant and never used them. I read 18,000 died in the U.S. from it and it took 6 months for the administration to declare an emergency. Seems like a mass hysteria now. Reminds me of the twilight zone where the townspeople start turning on each other when the lights go out. TDS on steroids I suspect. The bottled water thing makes no sense at all to me.

The differences are that swine flu appears to have been less infectious (a much slower growth in cases), and a really low mortality rate (0.02% - lower than the 0.1% of a typical flu year).

Existing data for covid-19 is a lot faster growth in cases and a lot higher mortality rate.

(I'm not a sky is falling person, but I do recognize this is a pretty serious outbreak. I've made sure we have an honest several week supply of things, and do have several dozen masks, which for me are a consumable already since I do things where masks are highly recommended.)

No sign of any of my outstanding vaping orders reaching the US yet, hopefully they'll start showing next week [emoji3]

Well lets see, since this thread has a new subject continually being discussed about "Are you done stocking up?"

Thought I would jump to say, anyone who has gone through a Major Regional event (Hurricanes/Tornado/Floods/Blizzards/Earthquakes) should surely know by now what is NEEED to stock up on and already be prepared for the next event. In addition, anyone who is possibly able to remember the same was done during "The Cold War" era, especially for any pending Nuclear Wars - would also know how to take precautions to "hunker-down" and what they NEEDED for surviving too.

Personally, I surely do . . . AND - Even though Hurricane season has yet to start, I always replenish "Stuff" before people get crazy and there is a "run" to get NEEDED Supplies . . . Matter of fact, if "You" are a savvy shopper - Ya' already have purchase what is NEEDED during the sales, especially when supplies are available and inexpensive too. . . EX: Sale on TP (12 rolls for $5.99 - Added to the half of pack in storage) & Paper towels ( 6 Large =11 rolls $7.99 added to 3 rolls had) both w/$1+ Off coupons.

Besides the fact, during BOGO sales and using a coupon for each item - is when I am replenishing Can/Shelve Stabilized Food enough for a month, including bottled water for at least 2 Weeks to a month. Then there is the Med's I NEED for 2 months, Antibacterial - Soap (half gallon container to refill sm pump bottles in KIt/BR) / Wash Cloths (The ones they use in hospital or when bed ridden at home). In addition, there is - Alcohol 70% (2 bottles) & Alcohol Wipes (Hands Sanitizer/Restaurants hand them out), Peroxide 3% (3 Bottles), Huge First Aid Kit. Oh Yea - almost forgot - Bleach (2 Gallons), Bleach/Bleach Wipes & Disinfectant in Gallon jug (2 Bottles)/Sprays & Wipes,

BTW: I am lucky enough to even have an Oxygen Generator (even 1 that's portable) if NEEDED . . .

So - AM I Stocked Up for "Corona-19" and either being in self-induce isolation/government demanded quarantine . . . Yep - I believe so . . .

OH - Food for thought, IMHO - And personally experiencing the event/s - the initial reaction by the Federal Government to this Virus is absolutely no different then the reaction / no action taken about HIV even before and after it was discovered . . . Just "My" Personal Opinion &


NOW - Before I forget again - To bring it back on the original topic. Yes - Almost there stocking up on vaping supplies, just waiting for a good enough sale . . . Just Sayin . . .



EDIT: Suggestion, No Face Mask - Use a Bandana / Buff / Bike Mask (Sporting good store) . . . AND - If Ya' have any stores in your area/can get to that sell the Head covering Muslim woman for going out in public - that just might work too . . . Just a thought . . .

I do find I am cutting down my mL vaped per day mostly by swapping over to a more MTL setup. Serious allergy congestion is the reason. I kind of figure why make the problem worse when it is possible illness looms in the future. The Hubby and I also have only in the last couple weeks recovered from a nasty cold so maybe not starting from the totally healthy standpoint others are.

All that said I am really not worried about it. I remember a flu epidemic when I was in 1st grade (so early 70's?) at one point we were down to 4 students in the whole school + the principal. Everyone else got it. I got it not long after and was one sick little girl for about 2 weeks. We are nowhere near that level of crazy with this one.

Honestly as vapors the FDA deadline is probably more concerning at least to me. People are diverted from that by the illness and many will not prepare for the long run either because they are distracted or because vape stockup funds are being diverted to deal with the pandemic.

This really could not have happened at a worse time (not that there is ever a good time).

Definitely glad I'm finished stocking up. One less thing to worry about.

Didn't want to be ordering from China this year just because there might be a rush of people trying to beat the deadline, and worrying whether stuff would make it here in time. That was before the virus, even worse now. I was thinking of picking up another Armor Prime. Don't need it so it wouldn't be a big deal if it got lost.

With any luck the CDC and the FDA will be too busy with the virus for a while to keep up their bogus attacks on vaping. The "vaping" lung disease seems like small fry now.

Must be a happy time for people who use premixed juice. Lots of serious sales going on. I wonder if suppliers are trying to clear their shelves in case it gets banned.

Now I'm becoming even more of a hermit than usual. Just did an RX run to Meijer, it was a jungle. It takes nerves of steel to make it through the parking lot. Last week I had two large school events for a teenage niece and a GGD. Lucky for me both were cancelled at the last minute. Tomorrow I have a 6 year birthday party for the GGD. Worries me a bit but it wouldn't be right to cut her off, especially since her school closed and she is stuck at home with mother all day. The only people going are me and the wife, several other relatives cried off.

That may be, but this virus is killing 3-4% of the people it infects, which is unprecedented for anyone today. If I were 60+ years old or had any underlying medical conditions I would be scared as hell.

Ah but other than seasonal allergies I am not in that category and the Hubbys condition that put him in the chair is not one that affects his susceptibility to viruses so he is not either. His mother we ARE worried about but getting her to slow down and take precautions is like trying to stop a speeding train.

I’m glad I’m all stocked up on vape gear too.

I’ve noticed that despite the crowds everyone is being very kind and quiet. At least that’s my experience.

Really, I'm somewhere between concerned and worried, and my state of mind can vary hour to hour. But I've not reached "scared as hell" at all yet.

Nope - Not "Me" . . . Over 60 & Many Medical Conditions (Heart/Diabetic/COPD/etc), however Not "Scared" . . . Just very concerned about how people are handling all this, especially how it is being handled by those who are supposed to know better . . .

Im not 60+ but diabetic and asthmatic. Respiratory illnesses are always bad for me. But honestly I am not even scared about this thing. Maybe I should be but there are what approximately 1000 cases in the US. Probably more since they arent really testing. But at this point at least getting it within the next month or so seems highly unlikely. I go nowhere pretty much. Went to the store this morning to pick up a few things. The place looks like a disaster zone and the store itself is almost out of grocery bags due to all the hoarding go figure.
No TP to be found there. Im about to order 2 dozen wash cloths off Amazon and do what diapering mamas have done for a long time. It works!

I don't think the fraction is anywhere near that high. We know the number of people who've died, but we really don't know how many people have actually gotten infected, which in all likelihood is far larger than the number of "confirmed cases" that makes up the denominator of the fraction.

If we could get tests I might not have to be in quarantine right now. I feel absolutely fine and this is all based on presumptive information that my employer received.

My daughter and I went to sams club today. Not for TP because I knew there wouldn’t be any. Just for some vitamins and coffee. I thought that they might have paper towels and I’d grab some since we were getting low but nope. Evidently those must be the second choice behind Tp. Looks like the plumbers are going to be busy this year if people are flushing paper towels.

The numbers are what they are. If the US gets its act together and actually does a lot of tests, great, then US numbers will change, hopefully go down in terms of mortality rate, but for now all we have are the handful of public numbers for multiple countries.
