Just my :2c: on the ERA craze.

Yes Dusty, I now know what "the" silver bullet is, but it seems to me that we are going a bit overboard on this stuff :p

The e-cig products are betting better and better, IMHO, so I do think the ERA craze is getting off track a bit. Yes, from a hobby point of view, it's all good :) Is this the "silver bullet", probably not.

Personally, I just want a great vape with minimal fuss. I haven't found the vape to be that much better from my ERA, than I have from my viva nova or stardust. I don't want to be super-skier ( for all you oldies out there, you know what I mean ), I just want to scratch this nicotine itch I have and get on with my life.

Enough from the farm :)

I pulled the trigger on a Provari and a ZAP earlier this week and I have had a bliSS for almost 2 weeks but have left it untouched so far as I didn't have a multi-meter and was waiting for the Provari. Tonight impatience got the best of me and I wicked up the bliSS. Here's my first try, and it seems to have worked pretty damn good. I have no idea what the ohms are but it vapes like hell and the Halo Tribeca tastes amazing! I oxidized the wick for EVER on my gas stove, rolled it up on a paperclip and wrapped it 5 times. Here's the result:

I moved the coils by bumping them around until they glowed evenly:

The vaping is pure epipemod bliSS!!!!!

So, after breaking my did clone, I've repaired it. That little rubber seal between post and top cap tore (user error, unscrewed bottom before removing the little nuts on post....derp)

I fixed it by taking one of the rubbers from a vivi nova head (the one that is known to burn/melt) and using it in place.

This rubber bit fits perfectly, complete with lip and bottom extrusion to keep it in place during reassembly. Other than hotspots on top coil to post (not the fault of rubber insulator), everything works just fine.

Got my hands on a chinese DuD/DiD/Chid or whatever they're called, spent 3 hours trying to set it up and popped 8 coils. Can't get this thing to work without a short or popping a coil. I have 2 Phoenixes that I run with SS wick and a Maxi Genesis and I gotta say those mini-did clones are by far the hardest genny's I had to setup yet. Looks simple enough but somehow won't work well for me, I took my wick out of my Genesis (works fine in Maxi) but can't get it to work in DuD, If I'm not popping a coil I can't get my wick to saturate and vape. I've seen a few people saying to take the fill screw out, I'll try that tonight but I'm still confused on how i can pop a 3 ohms coil with an ultrafire 18650 at around 3.95 volts charge. Now if I would use that on my Kicked Legacy I could understand too much voltage/wattage for a coil that's not broken in. I'm mystified ... I had never popped a coil in like 6-7 months of using my Genesis Maxi and 8 of them last night thats just weird, I'm using Kanthal a1 32g and I tried the supplied Nichrome they have with the DuD but those popped almost instantly, I must be shorting out somewhere.

DuD? really... is that what people are calling the knockoffs or did you make that up? Either way: Mmmmbhahahahahaha!

I never thought of trying SS in my Phoenix, is it hard to set up that way? Do you put the wick vertical?

So far I'm loving my Phoenix with SS. The stock wick was imparting "odd" flavours, once I got a working coil the SS has been fantastic. The DID clones, sigh, DUD implies they don't work and probably coined by someone who's not used one. Mine has no issues beyond my own screw ups. I've seen plenty of other rbas similar in concept and design, but round here if it's under 100$ and you can get it outside of the classies it's "crap".

My DuD/Chid/DiD clone came without a without a wick/coil installed, and I have some experience with genny's in general, for some reasons it doesn't work well for me yet but I'll work on fixing this tonight since my Maxi genesis has a broken tank now coz of that awesome Pluid. Key word being yet ;)

Have you seen steeljan's youtube vid? If not it might be helpful.

Actually, I searched that out soon as I posted the above, and it was immensely helpful, even though it wasn't the same problem.

A couple wires had broken at the solder joints, so all it took was 45 minutes of ransacking my workroom looking for the right tools, 90 minutes of cussing, one soldering iron burn on my hand, and another 20 minutes of trying to get those darned tiny wires to stay put and I've got a working Twist again.

My Firebird I had on it, however, wouldn't stop leaking after the fall, so I pitched it, and I popped the coil in the other one at 3.2 volts (!!) somehow. And this was right after I realized that I hadn't charged my other battery for my Lavatube, after I ran the first one down.

Today just ain't my day. Siiiiigh.

I received my Z-atty-Pro yesterday and my first vaping impressions of it (I only have the bliSS + Phoenix to compare it to) are are a little "meh". It is beautifully made but is way to airy for me in terms of draw. I really have to haul on it, I exhale a lot of vapor but don't feel it going in. I have experimented with moving the position of the air hole but there is no place that I get real satisfaction. I also don't like how loose the top cap is, I get that this is to be able to adjust the hit but I like how the bliss screws on, being primarily a pipe mod smoker I like to bite on the stem and hang it from my mouth, I can't do that with the Zen. My Provari should be here in the next few days, maybe it will just live on that (it's "made" for the Provari anyway, I am vaping it on an unregulated 18350 epipemod) Maybe I just need a few more days with it, it is really nice looking....
