Not saying that your DMM isn't reading 3.4ohms, but are you sure you are using it right? 3.4ohms is kida high.

Did you zero out the DMM?

Yes i am using it right lol . I work in the electronics field and use a dmm daily for the last 8+ years . It is zero'ing out fine .

...The issue with the wicking is quite clear: the wicks are not intact where they make contact with the cup. It's easy to pull a brand new fluxo out of the tube and see if the wick is intact or not...

Sedateme, I think you hit the nail on the head here. There are 2 issues causing this...the wicks get fatter and the inside diameter of the tube gets smaller. I noticed this on the first gen of thicker tube clearos. RS is making the tubes thicker but trying to maintain the outside diameter...everyone seems to want these to fit thru their eGo cone. So, between the fatter wicks and smaller ID of the tube, the wicks get mashed against the cup.

This is why I always do the 3ml BD Syringe mod or use these in a tank, either of these allow enough room for the wicks to do their job. The syringe tube won't fit thru an unmodified eGo cone, but that's not important to me (I only have one eGo battery and find the 3.2v regulated output to be way too low for my vaping needs).

As long as RS keeps making the wicks fatter and the tubes thicker, this is going to be a problem.

...I know these are just disposable units but come on! Give me at least a couple days! Hell... I'd be happy with one day right about now. I think like the older shoe laced wick CE2's better as I could get them to last a good 3 weeks...

vapspaz, I've found that regular cleaning has worked for me to extend their life. I have some of the skinny wick ones that I've been using for almost 6 months.

I have 2 main juices that I use, both are 80pg/20vg, quite dark, and prone to gunk up a coil after about 6-8ml. On my tanks I can usually get 2 fills before I need to clean them. Then I just rinse in hot water, let them soak in hot water for about an hour, let them dry completely then do a dry burn sequence...just hit them for a few seconds repeatedly until the coils glow. I've had them last so long that I just can't bring myself to throw them away. The only ones that don't work are ones that I accidentally destroyed while messing with them.

I have 2 of the 1st gen fat wick ones in my rotation (opened them just to see what they were like) and I've been using them for a couple months. I haven't bought any of the newest "Deluxe" CE2s yet, I still have several unopened 1st gen fat wick CE2s.

I'm not sure this is the issue. First the eGo cone doesn't fit and I don't believe the supplier even took this into consideration. Second when fluffing the wick there seems to be plenty of room between the tube and the cup.

As someone who just discovered the cleaning process, it can't be stressed enough. Cleaning and re-using my first CE2 was almost like an enlightened moment-okay, not quite.

I admit, the CE2's are finicky and need some tinkering (I like to tinker though), but a finely working CE2 is worth it every time you hit the button on your PV.

edit: @Mindfield, haven't gotten time to go through the mod yet... haven't forgotten what I volunteered for. :)

Agreed on that. There are those who feel these should be a first-rate experience out of the box, and they're certainly not wrong, but the problem is that even though they really do require tinkering to get them to perform at their best, at their best they perform like nothing else I've tried, almost no matter what I put them on. eGo, ProVari -- doesn't matter. The vape is astounding on any, it's just even better at higher voltages.

No worries, take your time and have some fun. If you see any improvements that could be made feel free to suggest them. So far the tank as been performing impressively and I can get higher voltages out of it than a stock Fluxo before I start getting wicking issues with 70/30 juices (which starts to happen above 5V).

Absolutely...they are sold as a disposable item. If you want to view it as such, depending on your juice, you may get 2 to 4 fills on an XL prior to a substantial drop in performance, throw it out and fill a new one. But, with some care and cleaning, and a little tinkering, these things just keep going.

I seem to recall seeing a post from Chris (badkolo) with a picture in this thread showing one of the new "Deluxe" CE2 fitting an eGo cone. I know the first gen thicker tube version will, the cone will not fit over the base, but it will fit from the top.

I just opened a fat wick CE2 the other day that had the wick crimped pretty tight between the tube and the cup...to the point that the wick had a few broken strands.

Ohhhh ... I see what you are saying now. I thought you were saying the wick is crimped between the cup and tube. When I look at them all the caps/seals have been removed ... lots of room then. I have noticed some broken wick strands when taken apart for cleaning.

See Chris's post here: for those asking if it fits in a ego cone

That cone has clearly been forced on. You can see the tube has a "waist" at the mouth of the cone. Standard eGo cones most definitely do not fit under any normal circumstances.

I see what you mean...I didn't notice that at first glance...

yes but i drill a hole at the bottom of the cone and walla

So basically it won't work with an unmodified cone...you would either have to cut it down or force it on. If you force it on, you have to have a hole drilled near the bottom in order to draw any air thru it...

i've had issues with these too... granted i've never used these before but i've been fluffing the wicks, letting the juice sit over night, and i only get a fill and a half out of a reg. then it gums up. i'm only using 70/30... and i get burnt hits too.... without the o ring i get less burnt hits and less chemically headaches than with.... but a fill and a half seems like nothing... especially when i get almost 2 full fills on my vision before it gets gummy

The dark and or sweet ejucie do gum these up quite quickly. I only get one fill when vaping SV spy juice or 101 but 3 or 4 filles when vaping one of my clear juices.
