No leaks over here. I built a 24g 2.5mm 10 wrap dual coils. They had just enough space and wicked them with JC, tips cut to a V like it's been mentioned here. I even filled it with the airflow open and no leaks. I do have to re-wick because I did it too lightly and got it scorched, but the tank itself is great. Very nice clouds and amazing flavor. At some point I'll try some bent coils or some small vertical quads just to see if they fit lol. I used it at 75-80 watts and it was a warm but nice vape.

Has anyone else noticed the Cthulhu needs to be rewicked every 2 or 3 days? I use a known coil gunker juice as my adv so I know that has something to do with it. But even with other, clearer, juices I find my KGD cotton only lasts a short while. It actually seems to pull out easily from both ends of the coils as if it is burnt away in the center. I vape it around 18-22W. 2.5mm 8 wrap 27awg wire. Build works out to around .6 ohms.

A1 + Muji cotton will last longer. (but sometime it depends on juice)

Wanted to report back that I re-wicked it. Usually, since my coils are so big I like to check the RTA on my ohm meter. I check it with just the coil, the put on the chimney on and make sure nothing touches or the ohms change. Wick, wet and give it a quick fire to make sure it's all ok and check in the ohm meter, pop the chimney back on to make sure everything is still fitting right, then fill it back up. The only issue here for me is I usually don't have the airflow control on, so I space out and put it all together without the airflow control and fill it up. Still, I've had only one small leak when I first got it from doing that and nothing else. I left it filled overnight with the airflow wide open and no leaks even though it rests slightly tilted.

I'm still having a bit of issues figuring it out to my tastes. I re-wicked tightly this time, but got a scorched hit when I took it up to 80 watts. I made this build to have a similar heat flux as my build on my Mutation Xv4 at 100 watts, hoping to work my way up to that to test it but haven't gotten past 70-75 watts without getting a slightly scorched taste. Before that, the flavor is amazing and even though I'm really into giant, thick clouds, this gives very thick vapor that gives me a very satisfying vape, even though the clouds, obviously, won't be as big as my MXv4 and it's build at 150w. It's definitely everything I was hoping it would be, and a great addition for those moments you can't/don't feel like/or are too lazy to drip.

And now a question to everyone else. What's the biggest/craziest coils you've put in your Cthulhu?

And now a question to everyone else. What's the biggest/craziest coils you've put in your Cthulhu?

I was hoping (coming from a Goblin) that I could build bigger (surface area) coils in the Cthulhu and have the wicking keep up with those huge channels. I have tried various coils but due to the limited build space I just can't manage to get a build that works well over 45W. Personally I prefer a cooler vape so currently just using a simple 26AWG .45Ohm dual coil setup at 40W. It generates huge vapour so at the end of the day it's satisfying - no need to try get more even though it would be fun to try - I have 150W Sigelei and just for kicks would love to get a 60-100W coil going in this (and make the most of the mod).

The best I could manage was a 28AWG twisted dual coil at .4 Ohm or something like that, it handled the higher power ok but I just don't like the popping when you hit the power - apparently that's an issue with twisted coils. Not sure what else could work. I suppose I could try 24AWG? something like this? Coil wrapping | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators

Edit:

On another topic - I got tired (read: ...... off) with the tight AFC ring so I just took the damn o-ring out - it doesn't turned when the mod is tighten down onto the mod so it works just fine. I've also had the chimney unscrew when loosening the top (to fill) so I've had to really tighten the inner nut to make sure it doesn't happen again. Would've been good if they counter threaded it so it doesn't unscrew with the top!

Spawn, that build would work nicely. Might be a little snug but mine is same wire and ID but a couple more wraps and it fits. My AFC ring isn't tight so I don't have any issues with that, but the chimney has come loose for me too. What I've done is tighten the chimney nice and snug and the nut at the top as well but I do that much slower to make sure nothing happens to it. Once I have that nut as tight as I can with my fingers it's good. Another issue was the chimney unscrewing when I take that nut off, so I've been unscrewing that nut off very slowly and it keeps it from happening. By doing those things I've stopped the unscrewing chimney issue.

Whenever I tear it down and rebuild it I'll see about fitting a folded coil, might let me put in a bigger coil for higher wattage. I'll take pictures when I do and let you all know how it works out.

Just throwing this out there as I may have missed it.

The little allen wrench thingie?? My clone was to included one but wouldn't you know the one thing I don't have a 100 of wasn't in the bag. Magic blue screwdriver was.

So this is for those of you that may live in smaller areas like me without a ton of shopping choices cause I had to go to the nearest city hunting for .9mm. I tried the Walmarts, Lowes, gunsmithing, camara and hardware stores I could find and no love.

Harbour Freight was the only place. This set has alot of handy bits but the driver is so-so and the bits only fit that handle. Still its useful in general and for this tank heaven sent.

more wick in the channels solved the leaking for me. Instead of trimming my tails with the deck, I trim against the deck, so that the tails are right over the channels where I need them, and the thick shoulders are over the deck already. The only issue I have with the Cthulhu is condensation on top of my mod from the airholes, and these vape so good that I don't mind that at all. I have never once had a dry hit on either of mine. Best thing I ever vaped, tank or otherwise.

Vapenstein, could you elaborate on what you mean here. I get pretty good results with my wicking but I'm all ears for something different. I don't think I've got it perfect yet. You're right though, best device I've had so far.

I received mine yesterday, while I love the flavor/vapor it puts out, I "HATE" the top fill system! The small ring for the drip tip is almost impossible to get a grip on and unscrew to fill the tank. The threads aren't the greatest also, and the allen key isn't the right size for the set screws in the post!:censored: It dose vape well, but the few little bugs in it,will be the reason it will gather dust in the tank graveyard.:(

I'm using a drip tip that came with my nimbus clone, its a tighter fit than the stock one and it makes taking off the top ring for filling easier.

I lost the bottom fill screw in the car yesterday, luckily it came with a spare, so I'm a bit nervous with bottom filling for awhile.... Even made a point to set the screw so I wouldn't lose it after taking it out, filled the tank, went to pick up the screw and dropped it....

I've had it for a week, been filling the tank just about once a day, still on the stock coils and the first wicks cotton wicks I put in.... No leaks, but I do notice occasional "seepage" when I take it off my mod.... Not sure if its coming from the bottom fill screw or the air flow ring, but it's not coming out from the air holes in the air flow ring and I haven't noticed any leaking from the air channels....

Liking it so far....

Yeah,I'm about to go to the bottom fill screw on mine also. Why they didn't copy the top fill on the Lemo 2 is beyond me? I did notice there is a small o ring in the parts bag,I guess it's for the bottom fill screw?

Just got mine up and running tonight. I am definitely impressed. This thing rocks for a tank! Everything was super tight on mine when I got it so I couldnt undo it all to wash it. After watering and freezing they all came off no problem. Cleaned out the little metal bits etc. scrubbed all that good stuff. Put a little vegetable oil on a q tip and lubed up the o rings and threads. Everything is pretty darn smooth after that. Using the stock coils on the ipv4 at 35-40 watts wicked with jpc no dry hits at all no flooding. Nic is a little high for me right now as I used the same DIY juice i was using in my ni200 subtank build. This is a good buy for everyone that doesnt like the itty bitty puny hex key. Amazon.com: Vktech Hex Wrench Driver 0.9mm White Steel Allen Screwdriver For R/C Helicopter: Toys & Games
I top filled with airflow open and no leaks or floods.

Push down and turn with a drip tip in it. 100000% easier trust me.
