Great review! I'm excited about the R&D going into PV's to make them more consistent, user friendly, and effective.

I wonder if 2011 will see the release of a Darwin II, i.e., a Darwin with some kind of juice feeder?

It will be several more months before I could even consider purchasing a new device. I would have to win the lottery or divorce my wife.

Still, if my PV "obsession" is my own personal mid-life crisis, it's still a helluva lot cheaper than a Corvette.

...The adapter used is a Stealth 510 to 801 and I posted a review of that adapter. I also posted a comparison of various 510 to 801 adapters under Technical Issues. I believe NHaler will be one fo the first vendors selling Darwin and I saw Drew post that he recently ordered the Stealth adapters.

The charger is built into Darwin. The wire that comes with the device is an AC to mini USB. You can also purchase (many stores carry them) a USB to mini USB cable and use that. If you have the correct car cig-lighter to USB - you can plug in a USB to mini USB cable and charge/passthru vape while you drive.

Great to know the Darwin will work beautifully with an adapter. I'll go check out your adapter comparisons because, as an 801 lover, adapters are my life.

Excellent review. This is the exact "set and leave" type of technology I've been wanting but I'm still antsy about buying something with the battery soldered in. This and the warranty is where you cross the line from DiY to "all your order are belong to us". This is precisely why I never purchased an iPod. I can't believe it would be that difficult to design a removable back and drop in battery to it so you could order a new one when you notice the battery starting to piddle out so you have no downtime. I can do without my mp3 player for a week before my PV. Zod's on a holding pattern.

I have no idea what the programming is...Not sure if the picture shown is a final product or if it was just to show that the ohms were on the screen and still needed to be programmed. If I hear from Brandon I will post up the answer.

Also, you mentioned that the device's range is from 3.7V to 12.9V. What happens when I want to vape at 8W and I attach a 1.5Ω atty? The device should lower itself to 3.46V (3.5) but it doesn't look like that is possible. If I'm a person that prefers a cooler vape but only have a low resistance atomizer sitting around, then the Darwin can't accommodate me. Furthermore, if the device's maximum wattage output is 12.7 and the maximum voltage output is 12.9, you don't really have as many options as it would seem.

I agree with IA, but a 3.7v low end wouldn't stop me from getting lots of use out of this baby... i like the way it looks simply because "beauty is what beauty does"... it's all about function imo.

As to form, man, it's different! That is cool! Love the fact it's thin. Small is good, and the swivel atty connector and on/off is super cool! It's solid (durable).

Basically, on the low end I'd run a standard Joye 510 2.2 Ohm on it and although some juices may taste best imo at 3.5 true voltage (don't ask me about watts and all that stuff; i haven't a clue), a 3.7v setting will not make it suffer.

Then it's all downhill from there... the proprietary battery is interesting to me; i like it. Learning to read from Watts will be new, and the LED readout is kinda boring looking; and i'll need my glasses to read it, but there's still more info there in one glance than one can get with a whole lot of figuring out.

Very easy to get jacked up about this PV... great review.

Pics can be deceiving -- is the dial covered in the fold down position?

Can you describe the dial? Tactile, ease of movement, accidental movement.

What are you experiencing in regards to battery life? Max amps?

Any areas of concern for you?
