Quick question...I'm presuming that if used with the ato-miser from inhaler or the vape mate, the arm wouldn't be able to fold down all the way. Does that mean that there is still the possibility of an accidental firing with the production design which allows for vaping at a right or lesser angle?

Well, the Darwin was obviously designed with standard atomizers in mind. Since the atty arm has to be in the full down position to shut off the device, I'm guessing that with your scenario, the answer would have to be yes.

This is a most intriguing device!

I've read all about the electrical aspects (VV such that you dial in your desired power level in watts, nice),the LCD readout, and the built-in factory replaceable only batts... but I haven't seen much info on the physical aspects.

What is the case made of... plastic or metal, and the finish? How "sturdy" is the device? The swing arm, does that feel rickety or built to last... ditto for the button and dial. Will this survive a drop or two and some torsion on it from being sat on while in a back pocket.

This isn't meant to be negative, I'm just curious about how built-to-last it is... say compared to a VV tube mod like the Buzz or the ProVari. The tubes have a lot of strength in them... how's this slim box compare on that dimension?

Also, how much does it weigh compared to other MODs?

Mine shuts off before it gets fully down position. I'll position it at the cutoff and take a pic.

In the meantime, this works really really well with the Darwin.

Yes, but is yours the production version? If so, great! My friend Sterno was wondering if the map tank mod would work with the Darwin...

...by the way, think you could load up a ato-miser up with blue foam and turn it into a big honkin' carto?

Mine is not the production model; but the swing arm is the same. Tell Sterno it not only works, it works great! Like Angus said, it's designed for attys, but that's where adapters come in handy. Can't say about the Ato....I've got a PV with an atty like that and it has it's drawbacks....an airy draw. For 65 bucks I'll pass on those and wait for the inevitable dumping on Classified. They'll be cheap enough soon enough.

The easily configurable settings are nice, and I like the idea of being able to swivel the atty out of the way, but like others have posted before; I will not buy a PV that I have to mail back for a battery swap. I can not think of any sensible reason why the battery could not be swappable by the owner. I can only think that they are hoping to protect their technology by making the device completely sealed. I think that is going to be a deal breaker for a lot of people though. Some good advanced features though and a thorough article on the device.

You can actually swap them out yourself if you have some basic soldering skills. They don't force you to send it back to them to do it, it's just easier to do so. And the device isn't completely sealed. There are screws on the back of it that hold the case together.

If anyone doubts Darwin's toughness, here's what happened today. I set it on the center island in the kitchen while I got my dog ready for a walk. He goes nuts, yanks the leash, and knocks the Darwin off the island. I see it fall about 3 1/2 feet and bounce end over end several times across the tile floor. Needless to say my heart was in my throat until I picked it up, turned it on, and it vaped like nothing happened. If fact, there's not even a dent or scratch on the case.

My dog got lucky.....j/k. He's a great dog

With some nice camo duct tape, you can attach just about anything...

My days of not taking you seriously, Angus, have come to a middle....

Just want to verify....since the OP uses 801s on the Darwin, the Darwin can take a ohm reading of an atty even when its on ad adapter, right?

Think I might be able to get a GG AFS (version 2) on this puppy?

Yes... and yes.

I believe Parallex2 uses an AFS on his.

WHAT? No props for the Firefly reference?

And the v2 is also a universal (ie 'all mods') edition. The v3, the newest one, costs $90, and has a collector tank.

In GG land, AFS generally means for all mods, and the AVS is the one that is specifically engineered to only work for GG products.

If it fires it's connected....and if it's connected, it reads the resistance.

FWIW, I use an adapter for everything I hang on the Darwin; including 510's. The 901 is what I normally vape so the 510 seems way short. Also, almost every juice feeder needs clearance with the swing arm so I leave the 510 extender in all the time.
