The pod industry owns a lot of politicians, and the Gov must realise they need pods in place to justify a crackdown.
I think the problem is that only the BT pods will pass the deeming process. They can afford to "do" the process. So there will be pods.....

It Isn't Moot to those wanting to End a Lease or to Sell Off Inventory in a somewhat Normal Manor.

Or to just what will be the Bar to Jump Over in the PMTA Phase.
Of course. But I'm speaking from the vaper's short/medium/long term perspective. Do I want vendors to be stuck with inventory? Hell, no! Am I going to lose sleep over it? Probably not. But I will lose sleep if I cannot legally vape.

So I got an email back from if all people Chuck Schumer. Looks like he’s (his office staff) is trying to spin this a little bit. I’ll just put the thing in in two quotes as it seems to be a cut and paste job to deal with the vaping community’s response. Starts off

Thank you for writing to express your opposition to banning e-cigarette products. I agree that people who want to quit smoking deserve access to safe, non-smoking alternatives.

However, youth tobacco use has reached its highest level in years due to an increase in e-cigarette popularity, which has reversed progress on the use of products that contain nicotine. While the overall proportion of high school students using tobacco products fell in recent years, there has been a concerning increase in reported e-cigarette use, which doubled from 11.7 percent to 20.8 percent between 2017 and 2018. This means that there were 1.5 million more youth e-cigarette users in 2018 than 2017. I support legislation that both protects children from nicotine addiction and provides safe options to consumers attempting to curb their nicotine consumption.”

Yay for us adults, right?

“I am currently co-sponsoring S.655, the Stopping Appealing Flavors in E-Cigarettes for Kids (SAFE Kids) Act, which seeks to ban e-cigarette products that target children with flavors that imitate candies, juices, fruits, cookies, and more. The legislation contains a provision that would allow for the reintroduction of certain flavors back to the marketplace if companies prove that their products: help adults stop smoking traditional cigarettes, do not increase the rates of youth tobacco and nicotine use, and do not increase the likelihood of a user falling ill. The bill is currently being reviewed by the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, and I will closely monitor its progress.

Again, thank you for contacting me. Please keep in touch with your thoughts and opinions.

Sincerely,

Charles E. Schumer

United States Senator”

So thanks, Chuck. Take it all off the market and then IF the manufacturers can prove it won’t appeal to kids, will support tobacco cessation (which is a drug claim, not a TCA requirement) and is safe (THC vs. nic again?) then sure, you can have flavors back.

At least it wasn’t a thanks for contacting our office and will give careful consideration to your letter we’re not bothering to read anyway form letter.

It is interesting that even Schumer (staff) saw the need to write that first part. I think they’re getting a lot more mail and phone calls than even we realize. If anything it encourages me to increase the tweets, letters, emails, phone call campaign going.

There is No Doubt that things are going to Dramatically Change in 170 days or so. And I see Nothing that is going to Change that.

But Business Owners aside, having a Federal Flavor Ban as we move into the PMTA process isn't going to be Good for Vaper's (of Future Vaper's) no matter what can receive a PMTA.

The Entire Process is Madness. But a Flavor Ban is On Top of a Crooked PMTA process is Madness plus 10.

Some hopeful news:
President Donald Trump will hold a meeting Friday about the use of e-cigarettes by young people and possible regulation, the White House said Wednesday night.

Participants will include advocacy, industry, non-profits, medical associations and state officials.

No doubt. Given a choice I clearly do not want a flavor ban. It's just one more barricade in the way. But the death knell of death knells is the Deeming in May IMO. Kind of makes all these other bans and restrictions seem moot by comparison. How many times does a horse need to be shot to kill it?

Wow I caught up on this whole thread. I refuse to be depressed and scared, I just can't do it. So I will note I had NO idea what Goodwin's law was, and now I do.

Have I mentioned I once owned a VW bug?

Sigh. Politics truly are divisive indeed. It's a rough game .I have an elderly father who lives in Aus, made a METRIC TON of money in the US before retiring "back home" with the trophy wife. IDK, he kept asking me my opinion on things like "global warming." (Dad, I remember you, when I was 5, talking about the upcoming ice age, maybe they will cancel each other out.") "Why don't they get the guns away from the crazy and violent I'm sure there is a way to do it without violating the 4th amendment." ("ARGGHHHHHH!!!!") I finally let him have it. He emailed back he was "deeply hurt" by my words, and "I was insulting me, my wife, all of your siblings." (I had mentioned NONE of them.) He decided, "I need to cut off email contact with you."

I was just like: "Um here are my political views, we differ a bit can we please just talk about nice things?" Anyway I emailed back a kind apology and said perhaps my email was "tactless" and if we did not talk again, I thanked him for being my father, and told him I loved him. What are you going to do?

Whoever invented the slogan "The personal is political" should be taken out and shot. There is a REASON you vote in PRIVATE. But, if you can't hold a reasonable conversation with your (supposedly mature) parent regarding opposing view points I could see a civil war erupt. I'm not kidding, either. Things are getting weird.

Because so many things going on are so deeply tragic, they do need to be addressed, they have never been addressed. I would like to see the homeless population addressed. F:censored: big tobacco. They should fend for THEMSELVES.

I will say, I do believe the rabbit is out of the hat. I do believe that youth will continue to obtain illegal vapes. This is because they are ALREADY illegal to minors now, and they have ZERO problems obtaining them. They do NOT want to smoke.

Big tobacco is finished, pretty much. The last few die hard smoker will die a slow, painful death, but regardless of how well or poorly we fight back, vaping will remain. It is my SINCERE hope that this generation is the generation that will END SMOKING, (That's the slogan from an impossible to find now "TRUTH" commercial, that used to play all the time.)

They will end it with vaping. I rejoice.

Anna

Great post, Anna. :)

Tomorrow's vaping summit at the @WhiteHouse will include @VaporTechAssoc, @TobaccoFreeKids and other reps from industry and anti-tobacco community. Greg Conley will also be there.

Edit:
"Tomorrow will be a historic day for this industry. Tomorrow, our industry get to meet with the White House to talk about the open vapor industry. Of course the opposition will be there as well as others, but it's our turn and opportunity to stand up for this amazing technology. We are very fortunate to have Tony Abboud from VTA, and Greg Conley from AVA there representing us! It all comes down to this and I couldn't think of 2 better people to represent us in this fight in Washington D.C. I am proud to know both personally and be a part of this industry! Lets all wish them love and respect tomorrow! This needs shared everywhere! We should all tweet @realdonaldtrump @parscale and thank them for including the industry.

WE WILL BE WELL REPRESENTED!"

Looks like Bloomberg is spending big money again with the lobbying and "media relations" firms. Headlines earlier today had dwindled to the single claimed case of "popcorn lung" case. Just looked, and within the last few hours, news headlines and spin have ramped again to a fever pitch.

I thought you guys were joking around, the news is seriously saying a teen got popcorn lung in Canada!

Love this bit though. "Researchers aren’t sure whether diacetyl was present in the e-liquids inhaled by the teen, since the products he vaped had been long discarded. They also couldn’t medically confirm he had “popcorn lung” because a surgical lung biopsy was deemed unsafe."

Gee isn't that convenient. And yet somehow not a single cigarette smoker has ever gotten popcorn lung even though cigs have much higher levels of diacetyl.

Yeah, Bloomberg's buying some real, fear mongering, doozies — positively laugh out loud LIES. So yes, claim of corn lung where ZERO/NONE/NADA of the standard diagnostic tests were even performed. And attribution to diacetyl in an ecig with ZERO/NONE/NADA evidence and many conflicting causes. With so much of this story being fictional, wonder if the patient exists?

And now the latest, "High school student suffers 'vaping overdose'." I am so stunned by this absurdity, that I don't even know how to respond.

All might be laughable but for the fact that many will return to smoking — and die. BLOOD is on Bloomberg's hands. He is a sad, pathetic excuse for a human being.
