    between here and there
I understand both angles discussed above.

To me, it only makes sense for them to REMOVE a certain amount of the "addictive" stuff...
Because if you're getting less of a fix off each cigarette, you'll crave another.
ADDING more of the addictive stuff will only satisfy you more, and tide you over for longer.

Just like with food...if you're hungry, and you have a few crackers, it may tide you over until dinner.
But if you sit down and eat a burger, you'll be satiated for longer.
Science has shown that yes, hunger is a biological and anatomical necessity, but that when we eat, the addiction centers in our brains are just as active as when doing some "addictive" vice (smoking, boozing, [edited], etc.).
    I digress.
Yes it is logical. However, in d**g use, that allusive h**h is always sought after but rarely obtained? In other words, to get that same feel good 'h*gh' don't they have to constantly seek more in order to obtain that feeling? And unfortunately some users so much that they eventually od on it?

I know some don't like youtube but this fits with your discussion of nicotine and addictive qualities.

CASAA's Dr. Brian Carter's presentation at the Global Forum on Nicotine.

There is one thing he did not explain... if it is mostly automatized behavior, and vaping so well allows us to continue that automatized behavior, why are so many of us so obsessed with nicotine levels and etc?

I'm not advancing any personal agenda or opinion here, it is an honest question that perplexes me. And in my case, 23 months since my last puff on a cig, I am not convinced I really need nic anymore, I just don't yet have a driving need to go to zero nic full time, although I do vape zero from time to time. I know I get far more antsy when I can't vape at all then when I am vaping zero nic. But this is not about me, this is about the general obsession with nicotine.

I've heard a theory that the "need for nic" is all in our heads, engineered by a lifetime association of cigarettes = nicotine. I'm just not sure it is all psychological.

American Cancer Society Rep lies about Cole-Bishop Amendment to FDA e-cig regulations

Alright you got me ticked again. :grr:

    Her Media Brag...........and my Comment
Implore Congress to strengthen cancer fight

Hey, anyone here against Curing Cancer?o_O
    Social Idiocy!

*Note: Campaigning for increase of 1 Billion to NCI< Which I'd have no issues with:
    a) Leaving Life Saving Tech out if the argument
    b)
    Our Budget
As a federal agency, NCI receives its funds from Congress. Most of our budget is used to fund grants and contracts to universities, medical schools, cancer centers, research laboratories, and private firms in the United States and about 60 other countries around the world. These funds also support research at the Institute’s headquarters in Bethesda, MD, and in laboratories and medical centers throughout the United States and in other countries.
Pretty sure the N in NCI stands for NATIONAL, Not International:glare:

Lets keep throwing money wildly and see what sticks:facepalm:
How many Administrative position paychecks are taking away from those funds?
Its like Paying Stanton Glantz to be a <Robert>

Sorry, Mike, I just don't agree with your version. I smoked sometimes 3-4 pad for a few months before I found ecigs(stress related). And I would say over the years I averaged around 2 pad. I did this for over 35 years. But technically, I started at the age of around 10 when lighting cigs for my dad.
Sometime in the early 2000's I noticed a change in the way I responded to cigarettes. Before this time I knew I could quit and did several times throughout my life. The reasons at that point for returning to smoking were never because of a physical need. After, I'd say 2002-2003 ish, I found I could not stop like I had in the past because of a physical addiction. Something had changed with the cigarettes even tho I had not changed brands, etc.
Anyway, all of this says to me that BT did 'something' to how they processed their tobacco. I have often said that I thought BT took a lesson from the drug dealers in how to hook their victims good. This is what I believe because it happened to me.
And to further say to you....if nicotine in and of itself is the evil addictive drug you claim then why are people now coming forward saying they never smoked cigarettes, and have used ecigs and have started to use nicotine in them and they still say that they can easily walk away from it without feeling like they are hooked? Nicotine is no more addicting than its cousin caffeine. The worst that has happened to me when I stopped caffeine was to have a headache for a couple of days, with no jonesing.

I myself never considered quitting till the late 90's or early 2000's and never really tried.
I just new I wasn't getting any younger and other parts of my body were showing signs of age
related stress. No one I know nor myself ever experienced a time nor discussed the issue
of cigarettes suddenly having a change in properties such as you describe. The only place
I have heard of this is on forums such as this and very rarely at that. I do know that smoking
rates were back then and still are falling. If cigarettes were intentionally made more addictive
the evidence doesn't seem to bare it out.

When we talk about smoking addiction. We know that individuals adjust
there intake and thus their usage quite quickly. This usage rate may remain
quite constant even over long periods of time. Generally most will increase
their usage over time but, very gradually. In my twenty's I smoked perhaps
a pack every 2 to 3 days. In my late thirties or early forties a pack a day.
By my late 50's two packs or more sometimes a day. One usually doesn't
jump from say a pack every 2-3 days to a pack or more a day just like
that. Of course this is a generalization and there are extremes at both
ends. Everyone is different to one degree or another. I know smokers
who used to smoke quite a bit that now may have a occasional smoke
at social gatherings or not at all. Go figure. There is no one size fits all
definition at the individual level. therefore one must rely on studies at
the population level to get a picture of what is going on. If one references
the very materials the ANTZ use to demonize nicotine (it in fact demonizes smoking)
and how bad it is one finds the very evidence that refutes their claims
that BT deliberately made cigarettes more addictive. Smoking rates have
been and still are going down. Before vaping came along the smoking rates
appeared to have bottomed out and stabilized. They certainly were not going
    up.
    :2c:
    Regards
    Mike

    A Must See for Everyone
27 May 2016 | by Nancy Sutthoff (Masterton, New Zealand) – See all my reviews

This movie, whilst being touted as a movie about Electronic Cigarettes and Vaping has a much wider context. It outlines clearly the corporate control of everyone in the first world. Mainly, as it relates to health and how countries health experts allow themselves to be the puppets of Big Pharma and Big Tobacco through a very nefarious web of money and power. As an expat American I knew about how things worked in the US from living there but seeing the shock on peoples faces after viewing this movie and the reality that it is happening even here in New Zealand....it was sad to see how duped people are. Hopefully the people who need to see this movie will see this movie and feel a sense of shame for what they are participating in.

I think they are asking us to rate it based on 'liking' that it has been made to counteract the negative/hater responses that they anticipate. I think the higher the rating, the more likely it will be released sooner and in more locales.

Thanks. That shows how little I know about the internet.

    Done! I rated it a 10.

I'm meeting with my Dem congresswoman's staffer in charge with healthcare policy next week. We need to put the pressure on the Democrats.
I live in Cleveland and my Rep is Marcia Fudge (D). I met with her local staffer on healthcare policy and her intern on Wednesday for about an hour. I gave them two copies of the RCP report "Nicotine Without Smoke" that I had printed and bound before hand. I also gave them many more articles and studies. The bad thing is that they were both completely ignorant about e-cigs and vapes, on what they were, how they worked, and that there were "vape shops". The good thing is that I did spend an hour with them. I presented the benefits of harm reduction, I introduced the objections that they would likely have as they learned more about the technology, and then I gave data to allay those fears before they even had them. By the end I think that I was able to convince both of them that vaping was benefit to society with little downside. I argued for vaping to be regulated separately from tobacco as well as argued for support for the Cole-Bishop amendment and HR 2058. Her job is to write a report and submit it to the Federal office. I will be following up with her. I wish that I had someone with me that vapes to give their story. If anyone lives in Marcia Fudge's district (Cleveland, OH), please pm me.

If you haven't called your representatives or senators yet, do so. If write a letter, hand deliver it. Try to speak to the staffers. If you live in a Dem stronghold, don't write them off yet. The science and data is out there. Assume that they are ignorant or misinformed rather than malevolent. It's been less than three months since I've gone from being suspicious (ignorant/misinformed) of vaping to becoming an active promoter for it.

First let me say that you are awesome.
    Seriously.
I introduced the objections that they would likely have as they learned more about the technology, and then I gave data to allay those fears before they even had them.
I don't suppose you have any of this in a format that could be mass reproduced?
Also, how much did it cost to bind the RCP report?

I had something like this that I put together years ago.
But it's badly out of date now.

I'm thinking it would be a shame to let your work sit idle.
    PM me if you're interested.

No surprise there. Of course the big money will benefit and screw the small business owners. I haven't paid attention but I'll bet BT stocks went up after the regulations were released.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Phillip Morris, Reynolds and Altria all went up a few bucks, but not a huge move.... (Lesser stocks not so much), but Brexit took them back to pre-deeming levels, except for Altria (oddly). PM gapped down Friday.
