Have you noticed EVERYTHING is now emotion based, even the law?

It's getting ridiculous truly.. I find it personally shocking that judges are now making emotion rulings instead of reading the letter of the law and making judgment..

But everything in this country has gone to pot because now it's all about how something makes you feel, and no longer about right from wrong..
The politician (wont say which ideology) calls it compassion. They take money from those who earn it and give it to those who didn't earn it in the name of compassion. Their compassion, our money. How convenient.

Perhaps this thread should be moved to the Outside because whether anyone wants to admit it or not the Deeming regs are a political issue. This is why this thread has always been on the cusp of being shut down.
It is absolutely possible to discuss political issues without attacking the people who hold political views.

Never turns out that way.
I do it all the time. I debate with people who have opposing views constantly, it's one of the reasons I like spending time here. Reasoned debate is how society moves forward. Getting caught up in the partisan politics of a political debate just makes people go to their corners and hunker down, it doesn't change minds.

I'm happy he's being replaced, do we know yet if Trent-Adams is the new Surgeon General or if she is just an interim? Do we know anything about her stance on vaping and/or harm reduction in general?

She is holding it as an interim position. No idea what her views are relating to harm reduction or in general.

Politics is always a heated discussion. If you're good at finding reasonable debaters then you are a one in a million. As Zoid said earlier, if he spoke what he really felt he'd be tossed in the sin bin. That's exactly what would happen with me as well. So I just hang out at the edges as best I can.

Passion does not have to equal obstinance or condescension. I don't think I'm good at finding reasonable debaters, I'm good at being a reasonable debater and people tend to respond in kind.

Zoid and I have gone back and forth on a number of issues in many threads, always respectfully, and I think our ideas and opinions have grown because of that.

Case in point, you and I have disagreed pretty passionately on a few topics and it's always been a pleasant discussion.

Some people think I'm incapable.

Though they also think they own no fault in the matter.

And many have gone in having already decided how it was going to go with me.

I wonder why it went that way.

Just a friendly reminder that this is not the Outside...

I perfectly understand this is not the outside, and if you read my last sentence, I tied my very general statement (which was neither condescending nor obstinate - don't know where that even came from as you seem to be talking about my posts) back into vaping..

But.. if people feel it is somehow wrong, or against the rules of this thread to make a general comment about politicians (all of them) and the law in this country, then I'll simply not post, and delete my apparently "incorrect" posting in this thread..

No one was attacked.. me thinks you are not reading the letter of what I wrote, but rather, reading whatever you want into what I said.

Have a nice thread.. this is ridiculous..

I wasn't speaking directly to your posts, which is why I didn't quote you or feel the need to report any of the posts. There was a streak of posts that seemed to be heading in a certain direction away from the topic of the thread. If you feel I was talking about you, or aiming at your posts, perhaps take a look at your own words to see what would make you assume that.

What created the assumption was that you posted immediately after my posts.. I know exactly what I said, but you made comment right after my post, then had this elongated conversation which to me, made no sense other than you didn't like what I said somehow, as, you said all of it after I posted..

You don't have to quote someone to give the sense it is them you are speaking to or about.. many people here don't quote posts yet speak to the post specifically, when they post immediately after what they are responding to.
