I didn't have any say in it. Not to the best of my knowledge. I didn't even realize epacket was subsidized by tax payers until about 2 years ago.

Just tested one, for giggles ... 40 British Pounds for product, 7.50 Pounds shipping. Don't know what it would convert to in US$, probably more, or if there'd be a foreign transaction fee added by my credit card.Yeah, but shipping is gonna kill it. Only reason why buying from China is even a thing in the USA is because taxpayers subsidize shipping costs from china (but not to china).
Of course I guess if one is desperate one might pay $20+ for shipping from UK or EU lol.
Not to mention, I doubt most EU vendors are willing to lie on customs forms like Chinese seller do.

Did US consumers demand this, or was it part of some trade deal that was negotiated by members of both countries' ruling class?Ours. The spoiled American consumer who has to have everything and have it cheap.![]()

And here I thought the ruling class of Kentucky imported their fast women...Rossum, I, from the great Commonwealth of Kentucky, the home of beautiful horses, fast women, coal and amber adult beverages, proudly cast my one vote (electronically, not USPS) for 'the ruling class'.

Some day, the US will come to the broad realization that all the special deals and concessions we made to China back when we were still rich and they were still poor were a major strategic error.
Hard to believe how stupid we’ve been. Our susceptibility to this intoxication came by way of a thousand cuts, as our government largely worked throughout the 20th Century, and a host of midnight votes such as which produced the renaming of MFN to PNTR/NTR and finally Clinton's last bell endorsement of permanency for China in late 2000. These weren't merely concessions but the roadmap for the wholesale disemboweling of industry in America and the great inducement to corruption of our government at every level. We sold the farm, literally and figuratively.
Good luck.![]()

Grimm just reported that the FDA is doing a hiring to go around to bust shops and manufactures that carry products without a PMTA.
Litigation usually is.This could get interesting![]()
Our tax dollars at work.I don't think there was ever any doubt that they would be using people to report on shops and manufacturers that were not following the rules.
My concern is that they hire a bunch of ANTZ that will report violations that are not legit and then do a shoddy job on followup.
