I say an Advanced Vaper is anyone who has an ECF Start Date of on or before April 17th 2010.

Missed it by a month, but I was vaping for a while before I found ECF.

If I hadn't spent so much time here daily over the last 9 1/2 years I'd probably be walking around with a Joye 510 or an eGo and happy as a lark. Shinyitus is contageous and it makes you buy stuff whether you need it or not, especially .after seeing all the reviews and discussions here.

That means a lot coming from a guru

I've been trying to figure out how to change that silly thing. I wish I knew what algorithms were being applied, because I'd MUCH prefer the "Master" designation.

Besides, it's much more accurate. My first job (back in the Flintstones era) was putting worms on hooks at the local fishing dock.

;)

It's really not about what you vape, it's how you vape it. The nonchalant way you rest the mod on your little finger as though it was part of your hand, and then raise it decisively to your mouth as you would a glass of fine port. The refined pursing of your lips as you exhale an elegant, perfectly formed plume of vapor. These are the signs of an advanced vaper.
You remind me of the connoisseur in this parody video. :thumb:

I'd say anything that's not like an ego or twist mod setup.... pretty much anything that does vv/vw would be intermediate, really it's best for beginners but most feel uncomfortable and want something that's either auto draw or just button activated, but as we all know vv/vw is pretty much a must have

TC is advanced vaping
rebuildables, could be for beginners if they just want to use premade coils but that depends on their comfort level so would really be more an intermediate

there again it really all just depends on one's own comfort levels.... now I would never go handing a newbie a mech mod but I would hand them a TC mod and explain that they don't need to use tc until they feel comfortable to try it, put it in vw mode and show them how to adjust it up and down to their preference and try to show them how to install a premade coil, you can even get them with wicks already installed so I mean why not....

but yes unfortunately pretty much anything that isn't just a plug-and-play would be considered advanced

Knows (nor has forgotten) how to do a term search on any platform that returns some meaningfully relevant result; or will be one soon, shinyitus notwithstanding or preempting.

(Excludes most SE's and I suspect a fair share of self-described vapers consumers.)

Good luck to us all. :)

I vape a certain way and my way is considered to be and defines the concept of "advanced". For the rest of you who may vape differently than me, well...
At least you still come hang out with the uneducated.

The 'advanced vaper' sits in a lonely and remote place where there are hardly any other people to talk to and discuss vaping things with :pop:

No, really now... Knowledgable?.... yes. Advanced?....not so much. All these things are meaningless unless they can be put on an agreed standard and quantified scale.:matrix:

My $0.02: Words have definitions, but also have connotations. By definition, advancing is moving forward toward a goal, or improving one's position. So if someone is not even attempting to move to something else, the connotation that they're not advancing is absolutely a negative. Advancing has a positive connotation.

Moving to different equipment, no matter if it's more complicated, or superior equipment, would not necessarily move someone toward a goal or improve their position. So strictly speaking, advance(d) isn't the best word to use, unless you're trying to disparage someone.

That said, newer equipment, in my opinion, can accurately and appropriately be described as advanced, in that it generally has newer, better, more advanced technology than its predecessors (reliability notwithstanding).

Careful charlie, advanced vapers are a snarly lot. And they don't share their popcorn. ;)

Good luck. :)

You can advance into desolation.
The chimp that became so advanced he lost everything that mattered including the desire to live.

ah, no. Wrong reference...that was a futurama episode. His hat made him advanced. Without it he was just a monkey chugging bananas. I think he chose the hat, in the end. Not really the reference I was looking for. Carry on.

Advanced vaping is complicated. I mean, not complicated to explain, just a complicated activity.

When i attempt to explain what it is i'm vaping with, no one wants to know !, because it isn't basic, and this is when i'm asked !. Some folks just cannot be bothered with it.

In contrast, a basic set up would be "throttle and go" regardless of how high the power is or how low the ohm's are.

There are those folks who want simplicity and then there are all the others who prefer advanced vaping. My reason for preferring advanced vaping is i like to tailor everything so it is exactly how i need it to be.

I suppose the fundamental difference between basic and advanced vaping is lazyness as opposed to maintenance. If it "breaks" i can fix it !. Whereas basic vaping just means switching out a drop in coil.

Pods aren't "advanced are they !?.

Some might argue that subohm "drop in" atomizers are advanced. I think they are, but only in the sense that the user "advanced" from something just a little less crap.

A mod may be considered advanced if it is high powered TC'ed. But it may only be used in a basic way !. That's not advanced "vaping" though !.

A set up consisting of an advanced TC mod with all the bells and whistles with a sub ohm "drop in" atomizer on top, which includes no maintenance at all, isn't a device which is used for "advanced vaping". It just looks like it is. Maybe that's the attraction to some. Maybe that is what the industry wants consumers to think. They're very pretty !. A bit like reformed old school shineyitis.

Mechanical Mods are the true definition of advanced vaping for an advanced vaper. Although not if they are used by someone who has no clue about the differences between regulated mods and mechanical ones. Some people might say Mechanicals aren't really necessary these days though. Still, there are plenty i'd like to own.

Companies have advanced their technology to allow new users to acquire devices which can provide a vaping experience that in the past could only be achieved by using atomizers in which the user would build a coil assembly themselves. Takes all the fun out of it really !.

The reason I started this thread was because I had made a comment in another thread and used the word "advanced" in describing going from a MTL low wattage low resistance starter setup to "advancing" to a DTL high wattage sub-ohm setup, and was called out for saying that such a setup was "advanced". This was that comment:

"A lot of folks started out with beginner mouth-to-lung, low wattage, high ohm starter kits (cigalikes, ego's, kayfun-style rebuildable tanks) and never advanced up to direct lung, high wattage, sub-ohm setups.

Then you have beginners whose first vape device was a direct lung, high wattage, sub-ohm setup and they can't handle it and wonder why? They have chosen the wrong type of setup to begin vaping with, because they didn't understand the differences between vape setups.
Calling in all Vaporesso Luxe users. Please help

Everyone has their own preferences in what works for them. There is no "best way" to vape. This is why there is such a wide variety of products on the market."
So in reflection, using the word "advanced" was probably the wrong word to use in that context. In my mind (probably an "old school" mindset, which I have), anything other than a very basic, old school starter setup (cigalike, pod mod, ego setup, cartomizer) was "advanced". So I was curious what everyone else thought.
I heard that as well and also heard the term efficient. Are newer sub ohm devices more efficient then older school devices? I hear this because one can vape lower nic juice in newer devices, but if you really look at it, I think its opposite. Newer devices use much more power, bigger coils, more batteries. One also has to vape harder, use more juice and look at the waste....more plastic bottles thrown away, more metal wasted, more batteries wasted and more work out with lungs....I say newer, bigger, sub ohm devices are less efficient, all the way around.

My view is that an advanced vapers has inner knowledge of the whole process of vape production, delivery and its human physiology.
Knows why use kanthal instead of NiCr, why use Temperature control with specific flavours, or when the temperature sweep of power mode is better with new and unknown e-liquids.

Knows when using an internal battery mod or an external one, what is a good battery and knows how a charger operates, can decide when use a mesh or a coil, knows when they take too much or too little nicotine and can preempt dry-hits, knows what to do when is very windy or very cold outside.
The advanced Vaper, conseguently, ends up using some professional gear, but he/she may use an eGo / K1 or a basic pod, and still be an advanced Vaper enjoying a proper effective and tasteful vape from such poor setup.

An advanced Vaper, knows eliquid in and out, and can well be a DIYer.

Please note, it is my opinion only. The concept of "advanced" is flexible and relative, and I wouldn't connect it to some specific gear marketed as advanced.

Advanced whatever... Well I did not mean for that to sound weird, but "advanced" meaning alone is easy. Like being ahead of everybody else, in knowledge maybe? Staying one step ahead. Now attach that to vaping and it will differ from individual users going up to device manufacturers.

As for users, that should mean "been there, done that" and "you can ask me all you want, I will answer accurately".

For manufacturers, that should be producing the latest innovative product. Innovative in the sense that it really matters.
