When I was a smoker for the most part I "only" smoked about half a pack a day. I tried to quit a few times, which usually amounted to bumming two or three cigs a day off of friends until they got ...... and told me to buy my own again. vaping is the only time I've been more than a week without cigarettes.

You can dual use - vape and smoke - if that's what it takes. You're obviously just not ready to stop, but vaping can help get you there. Or, you might not stop at all.

My family tells me to go back to vaping but I'm barely smoking and tell them I do it for enjoyment and I'll stop eventually... what do you guys think?

Huh? Are we on some kind of merry-go-round or something? Or the rinse and repeat cycle?

You don't value the advice of your own family members...yet you ask us (perfect strangers) what we think? Like that's going to make any difference to you? Come on...you're going to do whatever you want to do, plain and simple. If you don't see the benefit in quitting smoking, and think just 5 a day is barely smoking and believe "I'll stop eventually"...anything anyone else can say or do won't matter one way or the other.

Is your family still buying your cigarettes? Or did you finally get a job?

You remind me of my son when he turned 18. He took up smoking and claimed he wasn't addicted, that he could stop any time he wanted.

Well, when he lost his job and asked me for cigarette money, I said "No way, I'm not supporting your habit. I'm not going to be your enabler." I even offered to give him one of my vape setups instead if he would just quit, but he declined saying he didn't enjoy vaping as much as smoking. Now would I just give him some money and be quiet?

I guess we all have had our vices at some point in time. Mine was smoking for 35+ years. It was HARD to quit even when I started to vape, except by that time I was coughing up a lung every morning, couldn't climb a flight of steps without getting short of breath, and got chronic bronchitis for a couple of months every year.

I'm happy to report that both myself and my 23 year old son are now vaping instead of smoking. Maybe there is hope for you, too.

51 years and I never really knew what
There's probably a cigarette forum out there somewhere.
There is....I sent him a link the last 2 times he played this game. He sure is bored for a youngster. I was always out doing something at his age. Then again, in basic training, they generally like to keep you busy .

Um, is this another tantrum because you have to start vaping again because you ran out of cigarettes (if you're up to FIVE, you're going to go though your "illicit" cigarettes more quickly).

Look, I don't care if you smoke. Even more so, I can see that you aren't ready. I do hope you GET ready at some point, but if you don't, well, I'm just going to hope that if something ever happens, health wise, that you don't dilute the gene pool by having kids before you contract "whatever."

The good news is, if you get a job and come of age you'll be able to buy your own CARTONS even! Imagine how much better 10 cigs per day will be, then twenty, etc. etc. Just hold on to your vape until you can get free of the demon parents. LOL.

You will have plenty of time to "prove" your lack of addiction to yourself, once you actually HAVE a consistent supply of cigarettes. ECF will be here when you are done.

What is humorous is that just a couple of weeks ago you were posting how you only smoke 3 per day, and now it's already up to 5, but nah you're not addicted. You do whatever you want. You are the only one that can make the decision and the only one that will pay the consequences.

"It's not a habit, it's cool, I feel alive. If you don't have it, you're on the other side. I'm not an addict, maybe, that's a lie." - K's Choice
Bonus points for you for referring this song. Awesome.

Some people die of smoke inhalation... ask any firefighter.

Others choose to commit suicide via smoke inhalation.. it might take a little longer at a few cigarettes a day, but it's suicide all the same.

Since you've spoken to all of us here that have serious damage from smoking and know that it's suicide your committing and one hell of a horrible way to die... then more power to you.

Far be it from me to try and tell you your life has worth - if you don't value it then it has no value.

Smoke em if you got em then! Try not to spread any of your genes around though, God knows our society can't really handle any more stupid people..

He isn't committing suicide. Like I told him before, he is losing at the video game called life. Only you don't get to respawn when you die.

Marlboro begins to cast a spell.
You have been afflicted with the [Smoking] damage over time spell.
You have taken [100] points of damage.
You have taken [100] points of damage.
You have taken [100] points of damage.
You have taken [100] points of damage.

You have taken [100] points of damage.
You have been slain by Marlboro.

Smoking is called the procrastinators suicide for a reason.. so I disagree with your video game theory but then let's face it, I don't understand video games at all. I know how to play pacman, and I haven't played that since there were arcades.

Suicide is suicide, slow suicide comes with much suffering and pain... smoking is a slow suicide.
