The reason I am thinking about getting vamo is ability to replace battery. My MVP V2.0 is only 4-5 months old and battery life becomes terrible. Used to get 800-900 puffs and now 300-400 puffs. Same tank/same juice/same vape style. I was hoping it to last at least a year.

i've been having the same thing on mine,... about 6 months in and the charge doesnt hold much any more and it occasioanlly freaks out and shuts down. i have to stick a portable battery usb into it and it restarts, which isnt too bad as i carry one with me always anyway.

six months sounds little, but unlike others it's been my one and only vape, day in day out, for six months, and its been brilliant. everything about it, the big charge, the VV, form factor, convenience, etc were all instrumental in me quitting the stinkies so for me its done its job.

looking for something with a bit more power now, but i miiiiiight get another as a back up :p

herb everytime that's happened to me, one of the screws are not tight enough to make a good contact, tighten your center post a bit and the coil side that's not firing and see if you get some better results....also make sure nothing is touching with the cap on....those coils look very close to the edge to me on one side.

Thanks Sando , will experiment .

On the other hand, could have been over tightened. Crushing where it's tightened and therefore making that section of the coil essentially thinner under the screw. Can happen often if the bottom of the screw has sharp edges. It will tear the wire.

Dang it , now I'm back to square one.

+1 as sando sez

also looks off set to me

if it be me, I make the coil 'legs' even

I'd shorten those "+POS" legs
and lengthen the "-NEG" legs

all my coils are as close as I can get them with the legs...

The legs are longer in those spots to allow precise alignment with both air holes on the body , if I snip them shorter I will lose that ability. Both coils are lifted up and line up directly inline with both air holes.

Being absent for a week I'm somewhat surprised to find I'm only 21 pages behind here! I'm weak as a kitten and still trying to catch up on email and FB too so it may take me awhile. Just wanted ya'll to know I got home yesterday despite the best efforts of the medical industry (see pics below). Folks are starting to get their rayon samples and I'm still more than willing to send out more. Thanks to all for the kind thoughts!

The left arm they just used for IV's and such. The right they tried to get a vein out of but said it was too damaged from a previous angioplasy. So they tore up my right leg too!

herb i might be a dummy here but your Nimbus top cap comes off (at least mine does) and you can line up your coils to the holes anywhere you put them on the deck........also leave the legs long until after installing/adjusting them to line up properly then clip them off at the post...i use a fingernail clipper....sorry if you already know this!

Holy crap man are you OK ? Looks like you took a spill on your bike and used your forearms to break the fall . Take some time to settle in , i will contact you to try Rayon in a few days .

Yes, got it working , i had to really torque the screws , apparently i did not get them tight enough. I found that i can only position the coils like shown in the pic to get them to line up perfectly with the airholes , they probably don't need to be as precise as i get them but it works great.

Thanks everyone for the tips.

Thats a bummer , i follow the ( charge before it hits yellow and take it off before the green light shuts off ) routine because apparently that can extend the service life substantially .

Puff follows a similar routine (thats who i stole the idea from) and he says his is working as good as the day he bought it and it's been a year or more now. Mine are working like the day i bought them as well so i'm sticking to it.

Lots of things can be detrimental to battery longevity, if you keep it in a baking hot car a lot of the time thats no good , same thing with extreme cold . Keep it as stress free as possible and it will treat you well .

I wouldn't be dissatisfied with 6 months but thats me , it has been a real workhorse and paid for itself tenfold already.

Maybe someone could give me a suggestion here... I just got my Tobeco KFL+ in and i put a micro coil in it with 28g, around 10 wraps. Came out to around 1.6ohms. The coil is perfect, heating evenly from middle, etc. With a fully charged battery i'm not getting a very satisfying vape at 11w unless i give it about a second to heat up. I did change to voltage and at 5v's it's not bad.

I put it on my Vamo and 12.5w's was the sweet spot. Should i try wrapping a lower ohm coil or am i just hitting the devices limit and should just accept it?

hey, sounds like a good place in the story for an experiment...

got any 32ga kanthal ?

try spinning a 1.8Ω coil in 32ga

install that and see what 'heat reaction time'

works out to be...

I believe 28 is to heavy for the low powered MVP :2c:

yepper I wonder about user habits with these things... I really can't put my finger on it

a side note it just seems to me that the latest batch of MVP's (2-3 months)
have been having complaints of electronic troubles...

charge before it hits yellow and take it off before the green light shuts off
pretty set in my ways by following that song-n-dance
about a year with my original MVP and I see no difference in how it performs
and I rarely ever let it go, almost always in my hand...

herb, glad you got your coils figured out

next time, during rebuild suggest with wire out,
run those screws to bottom & in-n-out a few times
maybe remove some factory burrs...

:)

here i go again, i too use 28ga with the MVP but i double tap the button alot of times to get what i want; at the 7 -8 second point on your button press let go of the button then re-press it and it will pick rite back up to complete your vape....

as stated by most others 30- 32- gauge is preferred on the MVP for a complete great Vape....personally i like my coils between 1.3 and 2.0.....1.5 to 2.0 would be optimal, performance wise on the MVP...enjoy the :vapor:
