Sorry to hear about the egg! We had a High Yellow Leopard Gecko that never lost his super purple baby tail - he was gorgeous - kept a *lot* of his purple so he was pretty unique. My ex, sexing him without asking me to help, named him Athena thinking he was a girl. By the time I got curious and flipped "her" over to look at "her" belly - the name had stuck so his name is Athena. I'm not even sure he still has him - he probably dumped him like he (thankfully) dumped our cats on me after taking care of them alone for 4 months.
His cat, which he got from a mama cat I had, was his all the way (she loved on me, just not like she did on him). My cat had never been away from her, and his cat had never been without my cat so I refused to split them up. I was homeless for 6 weeks and the jerk threatened to take them to the pound and then I got a place to live - and he still kept them. I got them when he went to Canada for Christmas and he said he didn't want them back. I made him pay "catimony" for the care of the cats because I was too poor to do it myself (I had adopted 2 other kittens because I never thought I'd see my cat again - I was devastated) and was suddenly faced with care and feeding of 4 cats - oy! At least I put my foot down on that! The cats got 1/8 the alimony I got, which was $25 each cat, so $50 total - and my alimony was only $400 a month! Tells ya who he cared about most - and he threatened to get rid of them!
Course, he threw me out of the house on a Thurs. night at 10 pm in my jammies, wearing bunny slippers and having crammed a couple days worth of stuff in a backpack (I went back later and got more stuff with an armed friend, since my ex was highly armed - major stress!) and went to a friends house.
So yeah - super digression from the gecko egg - sorry! Sometimes things just come flying out of my brain when they make certain connections, lol!

It's all good. I don't ever feel "highjacked" or anything whenever the topic on a reply to a post I have made "strays off"... seriously, I just throw out what is going on at the moment and I enjoy reading the latest from all of you (aka... all y'all...
Daisy... wow... all I can say is, I am happy for you that your Ex is now your Ex... sound like a helluvaguy... (not in a good way...)

I wish I knew more about the geckos we have (color variations... ) and have done some "research", online looking at pics and reading... etc. These geckos were unwanted by their previous owner and came to live with us. These were the first lizards we have ever had. My first priority, when they arrived (my son brought them home...) was to go into "crash course" mode on learning the needs of these little creatures. I just love them! I never knew reptiles/lizards could have such personalities!!
Anyway, back to the color thing... the female (Lizzie) is a light greenish yellow from head to the start of her tail. Her tail is totally lavender with a kinda "yellowish/orange" band fade (hard color to explain...) at the base ( where tail meets body). She is cute and delicate looking... has a head and face that "look female"...She is so sweet and nice.
The male (Saturn)... wow, he is a yellow/light orange pattern, randomly on his body with these cool rings and spots on his tail and one brown spot on one side ( hence the name "Saturn"). He looks more "prehistoric" or "crocodilian" in his build and shape. Tough looking little mother. LOL! Has crazy eyes too. He just looks badas$!
That is all I know about their coloring... Knowing nothing of their breeding line, I have no idea how to identify what color they would be called officially. They are fun and interesting and I enjoy them a lot.
If everything goes according to "schedule"...LOL... Lizzie should be laying her next set of eggs by the end of this month... so the incubator will be ready to give it another try.
Thats it for now... Hope you all had a great weekend!
