Hopefully ya can get some clear shots for our viewing pleasure!

Well, to do that I'd actually have to wash my widows. Though I was thinking of dousing myself in mosquito repellant and setting a lawn chair up.

We see hummingbirds through-out the day - but usually just 1 at a time, sometimes a couple of 'em. But nothing like Amoret just talked about.

That's what's so odd about this. At the farm we had three or four at the most. They don't even stay in mated pairs once the eggs are laid, and they are very territorial. With the timing I'm guessing that they are flocking up to migrate, and will head out within a couple of days. But it sure is fun watching them in the meantime.

Kind of, but much stronger! Depending on the size of the scorpion, you spend days with your finger constantly in a cup of ice water. Like burning coals inside.
Some people have breathing issues. I think it came inside to cool off, been really hot here lately.
I don't think it was as bad as a yellow jacket sting, but that's just me

Tomorrow is our 50th anniversary, can you believe it?

Now really, is there anything you should do for fifty years? I love Pizza, but I wouldn't
want to eat it every day for fifty years. I smoked for fifty years and it nearly killed me.
I enjoy riding around the neighborhood on the golf cart, but I have no desire to
ride it cross country.

Ah, my high school sweetheart, what can I say.

We get along great, except she says she wants to be cremated, but she won't
give me a firm date.;)

Make plans for the next fifty

And there you have it

Now cardinals - that's different. We can have a 1/2 dozen couples hanging out on the fence and bushes going back and forth to the bird feeder. In early spring sometimes the bushes look like a Christmas tree w/ red balls hanging all over it.

I've never seen a Cardinal ... that sounds so cool

We are over-run with Quail, although we have a large variety of birds. They love our yard since we don't have any dogs.
They raise their babies here. The newly-hatched are super tiny and can run 90 miles an hour the first day.
Each pair have 8 to 14 young'ins, and by the middle of summer when they are all teenagers or mostly grown, we have herds of them running around.
It's nothing to look out the window, and see up to 100 quail in the yard.
They all stick together, and the family's seldom allow another family to invade their territory, and stay about 10 -20 feet away from each other until "pairing" season.
We make sure they have lots of protection, feed, and water, so they love our place.

Also have Doves, Goldfinch, Barn Owls, Magpies' and bunnies.
Most are here all year long, with the "seasonal" ones, Robins, Red Winged Crows, passing through.

We have Killdeer that show up every year, and lay their eggs in the middle of the gravel driveway, where we park equipment.
We put highway cones around it for protection.
If I get to close to the "nest", when going to the garden, they are famous for faking an injury to draw you off.
They have quite a routine they go through. Noisy suckers too.
The eggs look just like the gravel, and so do the babies when they first hatch.

Slots, you piqued my interest in the killdeer, so I popped over to birdwatching.com to read some more about these interesting little birds. I was surprised to learn that they are not uncommon in Missouri, having never seen one here. I'll keep an eye out for them. Cardinals, doves, and woodpeckers are our most regular visitors to the feeders. Our next door neighbor has a 30 acre wooded lot and I love it when I catch sight of the big old tom turkey that lives over there cutting through our yard with his harem of hens, he's apparently quite the ladies man.

I am jealous! While not a birder I do love watching them. The Audubon Society has a really nice app. A Nature Guide to Birds if my remeberer is working correctly. I don't believe it's free though.

Sent from my Galaxy Note 2 Android phone on a keyboard that waaayyy too small (or my thumbs are waaayyy too big).

I love birds. We have 2 large feeders that are supposed to be squirrel proof, but those clever critters have figured out how to hang from the roof of the feeder to get at the seed. What they spill gets eaten by the deer - they think it's dessert. I have 2 hummer feeders and love watching those little birds stop by. You'd think after several years of having these feeders out we'd have a lot more hummers, but we only get a couple pair each year. I even have large mandivilla plants nearby as well as other flowers to entice them. Amoret, what do you use as nectar? On my HummZinger feeders they recommend 4 parts water to 1 cup sugar so that's what I've been using, but maybe you're using something that they like better?

We had a HB feeder. You can buy "food" anywhere. Wallyworld, etc. But it's always red. From what I understand they are attracted to the color. But I believe it's just a form of sugar n' water mixed with the red dye.

But... wuddooeyeno? :)

Well Janet and Mike my own changes to the RY4 recipe I didn't like so well. I went back to the 17,1 and 2% and it is much better. Will stick with that from now on. Do you really use 18% of the TFA pommegranite. Wow it was way to strong for me. My Mango tobacco tastes great. Maxx Blend is really good too for a straight tobacco or to mix with some of the Inawera specifically the Raspberry. Oh well live and learn. Still on Camano Island and planning on leaving the 9th for Leavenworth. Sis in law is still hangin in there. Will post more later. Oh also I really like the TFA Strawberry (ripe) mixed with Vanilla Cupcake. The Ripe Banana was way to strong at 10% going to try it about 3 or 4. Got the new heads for the Nautilus the BVC 1.8s and so far they are working much better then the old ones.
