I literally live from my kindle these days. My husband got me my original one for reading, then I got a kindle fire when I was working for Amazon. When I was in the hospital for three months and then on dialysis for three months afterwards it saved my sanity. The combination of reading and internet in something easy to hold and use was ideal. So when my disability finally came through with back payment I splurged on the HD.
I'm pretty much chairbound these days and I can't type, but I can use my kindle with a weighted stylus and autocomplete, so I'm still connected to the world. When I got the fire hd I looked at other tablets, but between loyalty to Amazon for how wonderful they were as an employer when I got sick, and the fact that I still read more than I'm on the internet or playing games, I couldn't see any reason not to stick with the kindles.
My only regret is that if I'd waited six months I could have gotten the hdx instead. But the only new feature that I'd really like would be the ability to print directly. But most of the time when I need to print something it's not that hard to just email it to myself and print from the laptop.
