Some of the things in my comments were regarding small businesses, and the impact the deeming regs would have on them, i.e. putting them all OUT of business. Hopefully there were a lot of others who included similar... and that was long before I was aware of BT's move.

Yup, as long as you're a major stock-holder, BT is your friend.

You could be right about the color, Jan. I do know the thing was always filled with bugs as well. But they'd use about 3/4 of it and it never went down from there. Dunno why.

You should change the nectar every couple of days because bacteria grows in there as well as bugs getting in and rotting and that's bad for the birds. I might go 5 days if the weather is cool, and every 3 days if it's hot. If I notice anything other than perfectly clear nectar I change it. I put 4 cups of water and 1 cup of sugar in a pot and boil it for 2-3 minutes. When it's cool I put it in a container in the fridge. Then it's ready for when I bring the feeders in. Within 5 minutes I've got both cleaned with vinegar and well rinsed in very hot water, fill them from the pitcher and put them back out. The HummZinger feeder makes this pretty easy to do.

It seems to be an "unknown-until-it's-too-late-percentage-of-tolerance" zone, but what do I know? The original Front Porch thread was moved to the Lounge long before I joined ECF. My guess is that the expression of hard feelings is taken much more seriously by TPTB than are off-topic posts, but I'll admit that when I'm king, all high-fivin', bridal showers, baby christenings and welcome committee stuff will be in the Lounge.

Don't worry, though. I know as well as you do that I'll never be king, and I'm glad about that. WAY too much work!

There's no problem if there's just a few posts off topic, it happens and is just part of being friendly and welcoming. The old thread went pages and pages of non-vaping related posts and that's why the mods decided it was more of a chat thread and suddenly moved it. And you're right about being king not being easy - I was Queen of the Universe for 2 minutes once and it scared the _____ out of me!!!

Just wondering why you boil it. To make it easier to dissolve the sugar instead of stirring it?

You kind of support my point. None of us know how many is OK, and how many could result in a sudden administrative moving of the thread. Just today, one of us who recently mentioned an abundance of non-vaping-related posts on the Front Porch posted there about the weather of all things! If I were king, I'd have had to point that out.:D

I may have been a bit heavy-handed with it, but I just boggled at the fast-moving conversation--

Folks around here need to take my mom's favorite advice: "don't sweat the small stuff"
Neither you nor I was around here when the original Front Porch thread was moved to the Lounge. It's my understanding that the group did not appreciate that happening. My apologies for trying to repair the roof when it's not raining.

Meet Me in St Louie Louie
(brushes off the dirt from his recliner as he attempts to ease himself around the Digital Campfire, moving slow today as the old bones try to limber up as best they can)

One of my guilty pleasures is bird watching .. especially the Hummingbirds .. I have been known to sit very still in my old school aluminum lawn chair (I absolutely hate those canvas sling like chairs that force your body into some un-natural contortion) .. and patiently wait to blend into the landscape long enough so that the birds begin to ignore me .. with my Nikon in my lap, when the time is right, I slowly bring it up, manually focusing because auto focus won't be fast enough .. and with my eyesight such as it is, it can be hit or miss .. digital makes it so delightful to be able to take as many as is needed to eventually get at least a fairly good one .. back in the days of film, it could and did get expensive ..

Being in a particularly reflective, even somewhat melancholy mood today .. the sky is gray, the temp is way way down .. Fall is knocking once again and Old Man Winter is lurking out there somewhere .. I hope I'm up for my Annual Fall Wine Tasting Tour during the Oktoberfest's that abound within a 100 mile radius .. and I honestly wish some of us could gather up in a Convoy and hit the road together for a leisurely drive thru the Ozark foothills as the rainbow of Fall leaves begin to drift down next Month .. it would be good times and great memories ..

My first real kiss was from a very bold and free spirited girl named Christine .. I still think of her some days .. especially the days when I try and find a shred of the child I used to be .. you know, it's still in there somewhere, if you look deep enough .. the wonder, the newness .. but you sometimes really have to look deep ..

Yes it would and I would be up for it if the motorhome didn't need about $1000 worth of work.
