I bought a 4-pack of CREE LED light bulbs:
Cree 9.5-watt (60w) Soft White (2700k) LED A19 Light Bulb - Multi-pack 4 Bulbs - - Amazon.com

I have 3 outside lights, 2 in a double fixture at the side door and 1 in a fixture at the front door. Since it's my understanding that LED bulbs do very well in outdoor conditions, I put the new LED bulbs in all 3 sockets.

So far, so good, after about a month, and they're brighter than the short-lived 60 watt incandescent bulbs or the longer-lasting 13 watt florescent bulbs that I've used previously. Lots of rain, snow, ice and freezing temperatures in the past month. Since they use only 9.5 watts each, I leave them on 24/7. From what I've read, LED bulbs are less likely to fail from cold and/or moisture than other types of bulbs.

The 4-pack is now actually a tad cheaper than when I bought them. I paid $32.02.

I'm still using the fluorescent style in my outside fixtures, but I don't like how long it takes them to fully brighten when it's cold out. Do these come on fully bright instantly when it's cold?

does anyone here know how to sign out of chrome? I was on google hangouts, and there was a box that said sign in....... and it was in the way and I couldn't get rid of it. (I hate google!!!) so I thought, well....I'll sign in to get rid of the box, then I'll sign back out. Wronggggg Now my name appears up where the minimize button is on the window. When I click it my only options are switch person or go incognito. It won't let me sign out.

Yes. LED bulbs actually love the cold, according to what I've read and what I've witnessed.

I put florescent bulbs in my flood lights out front and had to leave them on all winter. They would take an hour just to come on.. Never again!

Thanks BB, I think I'll look into getting some of those, hate it when it's cold out and I have to try to remember to turn the outside light on before I get bundled up to take the dogs out after dark, otherwise it doesn't light up much more than the front door.

LEDs come on instantly. Really nice. Pay for themselves really quickly in electricity savings too. Almost every bulb in my house is LED now. My electric bill has dropped a bunch.

this is the first time I've used it. May I say I hate google!!! lol But everyone in the reo lounge is trying to do group video chat. Jup that would be fun to do here. Not sure how ya do it. I haven't even been able to figure out how to find folks yet. Haven't done a video chat yet, just a typed IM kind of thing. Skype seems easier to figure out, but I don't know if you can do several folks at once or not.

do they last a long time? The last GE light bulbs we got at walmart, don't last very long.

I just ordered another 4-pack, and will begin replacing some of my indoor bulbs, starting with the fluorescent ones. I have a troublesome fixture above the twin sinks in the master bedroom bathroom, and will see if LED bulbs last longer than the ones I've had to regularly replace in that location. I'm certain that part of the problem relates to the fact that the wiring is copper on one side and aluminum on the other, but I'm willing to try a change in light bulb type.

I can't yet provide personal testimony, but according to Consumer Reports, LED bulbs last MUCH longer than fluorescent bulbs and WAY MUCH longer than incandescent bulbs.

However, if the bulbs you bought were the LED bulbs made by GE and sold at Walmart, they are rated only slightly lower than the CREE LED bulbs.
