Aren't you glad I told the guys to get busy advising you? You might have been totally bald by now, otherwise-- or in jail drunk, for having screamed too loudly and obscenely at your isolated retreat.
Thank you all for the great advice and knowledge! A++. In Spaceville, no one can hear you scream.

So...the cable techs were here AGAIN yesterday because of the usual issues, tv and so on, which has been going on for three months with many techs, two "new" cable modems, a couple " new" remotes, so on and so forth.
I guess threatening to dump them in favor of satellite finally worked. Their app. was between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m., they ( a tech AND a supervisor) were here at 8:15.

To make a long story short, they replaced the underground line, ran two separate cable lines into my home, replaced the modem and the remote, set up all the components, including the printer and the router, and then checked all of them, including the phone.

The one tech left but the supervisor stayed, and believe this or not.... moved my heavy couch and all the other furniture exactly where I wanted it placed! Even went so far as to help me place the individual slate tiles in both the coffee table and lamp table, after he moved them where I wanted them.

Guess they wanna keep me as a customer after all:D
That's great, Kay! I hope this solves the problem! I had my cable co out today, also. They are remodeling the exterior of the buildings here. Ours is the last one to get done. My nephew came, & got all the pots & my antique bistro set from the patio, & will store them for us until this is over with. The wood siding is being replaced & there can't be any wires attached to the building. Turns out that the guy that did the installation a 14 months ago was supposed to bury the cable or hook it up from the phone source in my closet. Instead, he ran cable that can't be buried, bored a hole in the wall that isn't allowed, & installed an unnecessary, & now nonfunctioning, phone jack on an outside wall behind the tv. The guy today just kept shaking his head. It took him less time to redo it correctly than it took the first guy to do it wrong. But it's done. Tomorrow they start the exterior demo d putting the new insulation & siding up.

Today, on Groundhog Day, we present the next installment of Adventures In Home Plumbing. With any luck, this episode is the season finale.

We last saw Intrepid DIYer Dave as he headed off to Lowes and/or Ace Hardware a number of hours back. I decided to go to Ace Hardware first. It's not there no more... prolly been gone for 15 years... I never notice something is missing until I'm looking for it, eh?

The pipe that enters my house is not PEX, as it turns out. It's something called Quest, that nobody sells any more. At Lowe's they had me scared half to death that I'd have to replace the entirety of the plumbing pipes in my house. Then they told me how much the crimping tool cost for the type of crimp ring that was on the section that I showed them.

But they was only joshin' me, gettin' their jollies I think. Turns out that push-to-connect fittings will work with Quest. Those fittings are so easy to work with they oughtta be illegal. I bought a ball valve, fittings, a piece of PEX pipe, some connectors for the existing PVC pipe, and a plastic pipe cutter. Total time of repair (after my lunch, nap, and computer time once I got back from Lowes) was 1 hr 15 minutes, and that included watching some videos on YouTube on how to use the P2C fittings. Those fittings really give a bad name to "difficult plumbing job".

Da-dah! I gots me watah! Now I have flush terlets and everything!

Glad you have indoor plumbing again Dave! Everyone here is so helpful and knows their stuff!

Kay, hope everything continues to work!

Kenna, we used to flip houses. Some of the shoddy work was down right scary! Glad you are all fixed up now and your place is going to be all fresh and new outside.

Ahh I remember when Quest tubing came out. Best thing since sliced bread, etc. Will last 100 years... got banned within 20 years I think it was.
I bought my mobile home in 1993, the same year it was constructed. For a good number of years I got mail regarding the legal action against the Quest internal plumbing. If there had been a failure, I could have gotten my home replumbed with copper up until something like 2004 as a condition of the settlement, but I've never had any problem with it.

OK, my 'puter is 'bout as unstable as I am. Having issues with posting 'likes', 'quotes' and finding 'unread posts'.

So, off da back of my cloudy mind (although da weather was absolutely gorgeous today; shoulda worn my shorts and sandals sans pink tutu)-

Last night, weird dream with me smoking cigs in a gov't ops. Tossed 'em after first puff. Not a PV one in 'sight'... strange! In da recent past I would catch my dreamy self (no, not that dreamy; dat I ain't) searching fer my vape.

Plumbing, fergetaboutit! I no longer do dat. All my past efforts required a minimum of three (most times more) trips to Ace/Home Depot/Lowes/pharmacy.

Dave, glad ya got it all resolved. I still say dat collectively, dere ain't much we don't know!

Wicking? H377, I still got aquarium air stones to try (along with ten virgin TEMO 40mm cut off saw blades from FT), thanx to Mike's experiments! BTW, only have one 4" x 4" piece o' blue filter foam left: nostalgia, ya know!

Luv da willingness of our porchers, especially our newer ones, to expand their vaping experiences thru experimentation and DIY recipes (and their sharing)!

OH, BIF, got 'nother romping number...

Not sure if I'll revisit y'all dis evening. Watched da first half of 'Taking Chance' earlier dis afternoon and really don't trust myself after watching da rest o' it... (Grand heartfelt thanx to whomever suggested watching it!!!)

Love life, embrace family and friends and dance like no one is watching (see above)...

Sure ... virtual version coming up. :D

A company I worked for sent me to Denver to learn about WildBlue Satellite and teach the program to our tech agents for tech support when I returned. WildBlue was still a relatively young company at the time. If you found a problem or bug in any of the WildBlue software or reference material and reported it they would send you a virtual omelet. They would send you a file and when you opened it a picture of an omelet would appear and the CD Rom drawer would open on your CPU.
