I have a question. Less than 2 years ago, purchased a couple of mech mods and therefore, batteries. I have 3 Efest 2000mah 18650s- 2 button top and one flat. I purchased them at Madvapes and 101vape. They were great batteries. When I bought my first regulated mod, I also purchased Samsung 25rs and that's what I use. I put the Efests away.

The Efest batteries are still good. They hold a charge just fine. I don't like wasting things, so I thought about buying an inexpensive flashlight from fasttech that uses them. Is there anything I need to know about the flashlights and safety? It may seem like I stupid question, but, I don't want to make a stupid mistake.

I imagine that this flashlight would be a pretty awesome purchase to use with those Efest batteries. :)

Basically, on FT, you can just look at the "output current" in the item specs for the flashlight, and that will tell you how much current the light will draw from the battery. Same as in vaping. If it's within the battery's specs, then you'll be safe. Just be careful about overdischarging the battery. I don't know if there is a built-in circuit that will shut the flashlight off at a certain voltage.

For those of you that are seriously interested in Linux, one of the easiest versions to install and use without needing any special knowledge is probably Linux Mint. Everything will just work from the start, or at least the last time I played with it. If you have someone that can help you with installation and any issues you might encounter, by all means use whatever distribution they are familiar with, but if you are on your own Mint seemed like one of the best. Just my :2c: Opinions may vary.

After Clem's refusal to address valid security concerns as to how updates were pushed, I dumped Mint. Using Fedora23 now and after 2 months of daily usage, has become my daily driver.

As for the gathering, seems a little too much fun was had by some?

It has been awhile since I played with Mint, so I was unaware of this. Fedora also seemed to be a good distro. Most of my Linux experience was with more hands on distros, because I liked learning and tinkering. But in the end I kept booting back into Windows for gaming, so never quite managed to stick with Linux. Time to see what the Linux world looks like these days before I offer any more suggestions.

That was one of the brightest flashlights I saw there for 18650. There are a few others that are cheaper if you want some alternative suggestions. :)

I'm actually thinking I might pick up this one, just to check it out.

I keep a Windows installation for playing, and for the odd hour or so during the week, I'll boot into Windows to play. Otherwise, the other 99.999999% of the time I'm in Linux.

Nice thing about this notebook. 2 drive bays. So sda is Winderz, sdb is Linux. :D

Yes, Cinnamon in Fedora is sweet.

That's more like what I was thinking when I said inexpensive! I put that one in my wishlist before I came and asked.

Yep, that one is pretty nice for the price. And shouldn't have any trouble using your Efest batteries, either. :)

As a point of reference, the last time I had Linux installed, Cinnamon wasn't around, Gnome and KDE were the two primary choices though I was using XFCE on my Arch Linux install.

Jup. Got that one. Best and brightest small flashlight I ever had.

In gardening news, it's still in the very low 20's here in the mornings so hardening the vegetable starts off over night will have to wait another week or so. Everything but the Asparagus has sprouted and is looking good. We got a little concerned that we hadn't seen the Asparagus yet and consulted the internet last night. We had heard it was hard to grow and weren't expecting to harvest any this year (The seed package states , "About 3 YEARS from seed to cultivation. Then it should come back for as many as 10 years or more.") but we had no idea that it is THAT persnickety of a plant!!! As much as a month just to germinate and about a 40 to 60 % success rate at that. Then as much as a 20% loss from transplant shock (with each transplanting, started pot to maturing pot and maturing pot to outdoor establishment.) Once you've overcome those hurtles and you've planted them deep enough but not TOO DEEP and waited to the end of the season to "harvest", you'll only end up with a few stalks at best, from each plant the first time around. HOLY COW!!!
Looks like we're going to have to get a whole bunch more "Jiffy Pots" and get the whole pack of seeds going!!! No wonder it's so expensive (up here anyway) we may have more luck compressing water!
Hang in there. My mom threw some seeds on the ground out back 25 years ago and now cant keep up there are so many stalks every year.

Sent from a dark, twisted corner of the back porch, covered in cobwebs and slightly damp.

I'll learn more about Prince in the next few days than I ever knew before.

In my case it's gonna be more than I ever cared to know. Took me a while to understand who the news outlets were referring to. Then it dawned on me that he was the weird kid with a symbol for a name. Very odd.

Reasoning behind the "symbol" for a name... the record companies would not give him rights to his own music. It was a form of protest for all artists. They finally gave him the rights back and... prince again.

There's someone 'sides me on the porch who watched it on occasion; thought that someone was you. I watch BBC America quite a bit and appreciate the better world coverage that it gives compared to the US based news-type channels. Plus, a lot fewer commercials!

Yeah, gone on the 12th... (might have been me, Bells ;) )

US has news channels? (insert gasp here)

Not any more, with AJAM gone....

Whoa! That first pic threw me there for a second! I thought, "OMG! The boat sank!" Then I realized I was looking at the motor from the Starboard side! TOO FUNNY!!!

I did the same double-take!

I wouldn't have watched it if it was the last news network on earth.
