I'm not paying for a device to watch ads on on if I can avoid it. I I had to watch ads everytime I turned on my laptop of used my phone they would go bye-bye. TV I can't get around. ECF is not obnoxious with vendor ads that take up a whole screen but they are there in a way that I can look at them or ignore them. FB is the same way. I hate autoplay video ads online. My local news app does that, so i'm changing channels. The ads are an insignificant inconvenience. There was an offensive one a week ago, but just a passing thing.
Kenna....if you install adblock you won't have to look at them here or on FB, though I understand that adblock is being taken to court to stop it by FB and othersI'm not paying for a device to watch ads on on if I can avoid it. Mine only shows an ad when I first turn it on. As soon as you swipe to open it the ad goes away.I was shopping for a Kindle a while back. They had some pretty cheap. I can't remember for sure what the catch was. I think it may have been something like advertising that would make it too miserable to use.
Whatever it was, I decided it wasn't worth it.
But, it would be so nice to have an entire library of books available on one tiny device that I could throw into my purse! I used to choose my purses based on how well they could carry books.

Yep just a startup screen ad. None after you swipe it open.Mine only shows an ad when I first turn it on. As soon as you swipe to open it the ad goes away.
{{{{{Gracie}}}}}As some of you already know, a dear childhood friend passed on Wednesday night! It hit harder than I could have imagined, and gave me pause for reflection for my own existence.
Anyway, I am in acceptance mode right now, and even though she will be sorely missed, I have years of wonderful memories filled with love, laughter and the good times we shared in the 59 years we knew one another.
Happy birthday, Mike!Happy Birthday to my hubby!

There an app/program available for download that will just about covert any format to any other format. It's called Calibre and is available in the Google Play store and on the CNET download site. Does single file conversion as well as batch conversion of multiple books at one time. Highly recommended, I've been using it for years.Tell your son I've adopted him and I'm expecting my kindle soon. I lost 70 or so "lit" file books cause win 8 won't read them. And I can't find a app to convert them. I hope Roboshark does eat "Bill "Glates" Long Live Paperbacks!
Only a couple of weeks before he died, Dad had just finished breakfast at the hospital when we arrived to visit him. His empty breakfast tray still sat on the rolling over-the-bed table. Dad caused us immediate concern when he said: "I really like the food here".
After a comedic pause, he added "what I like best is the portions are so small."
Aww, Gracie, I'm sooo sorry! 60 years is a LONG time to maintain a friendship, so I know you were very close. Feel better, my friend, d celebrate the things you shared.Thank you! Yes, it was much needed!
Thanks Kay, and back atcha!
The first option was indeed the reason!
Kenna, feeling ambivalent is a good thing! I applaud you for your positive attitude!
Well, it's a day or two late, but right now, the weather calls for a mostly cloudy day with chance of thunderstorms.

It is starting to feel like everyone here has a birthday this year.![]()
It's the old "if you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes" around here for sure. I like it. I really like the fact that we have real "weather" down here. Back in Virginia it would look like big weather and mostly turn out to be nothing. Love sitting on the back screen porch enjoying a nearly immersive weather experience. Only thing missing, and ok by me, is the getting wet part.So sorry to hear about this, but the study will still go on and maybe something good will come out of it that you'll benefit from. I sure hope so. You've got a great attitude that is an inspiration.
My sister lives in FL and I can't tell you the number of times we've each heard scary weather reports that turned out not to be the case at our location. To avoid panic we always contact each other to report on what's going on at our home. I used to work 8 miles from our home and even in that short distance the weather could be way different. It can be crazy, but at least we don't freak out anymore. I'm glad to hear Iffy isn't getting deluged with rain.
Without adblock on my computer, I get invitations to download viruses all the time. No thanks. Kindle ads are not like that.I'm not paying for a device to watch ads on on if I can avoid it.
It.s not my phone doing autoplay. It's in the apps. FB is the only one I can turn off. My phone I have set to no autoplay.Adblock got mentioned. It's also possible, depending on browser, to NOT have autoplay, i.e. turn it off, if it's Flash. Procedure varies by browser, so google is you friend... in this case!
And let's hope it STAYS that way!![]()
Bob not pushing but a smartphone purchase was one of the best things I ever bought. There is so much you can do with it.Good catch Kenna, I forgot about that since I have a dumb phone.
