The smells of Gas station or automotive shop, tire shop, or anything along those lines is very comforting. My Dad was in the auto parts industry. He was a Store Manager & then Sales manager at different levels, but when I was still just a toddler he managed a chain of gas stations, & later owned one. I grew up with those smells meaning Daddy was home & things were ok. He always worked on ours cars, lawnmowers, tvs, washing machines. He loved taking things apart & fixing them & watching them work again. Mom would would get mad & stomp d slam when somthing didn't work right, but Dad would get positively giddy. Before you could think twice he'd have it in pieces. He always fixed it, too. And cleaned up after it. I loved to sit & watch him, waiting for him & need my help! When I take my truck for repairs I'll sit & wait for hours breathing in all those smells & memories. When we were coming back up to Virginia this time the car spit a few drops of gas on my tennis shoe. Stank horribly all the way here. At least I thought it did. Doree didn't even notice it.Some smells just bother some folks worse than others II guess.
