After spending the bulk of Sunday working in the yard and catching the Pope off and on, I retired to the Deck around 8:00 Central .. it had been a cloudy day all day, with short bouts of misting rain and gentle rain .. I had my telescope at the ready, a beverage in hand and a couple PV's .. the deck stereo was playing "Dark Side of the Moon" .. "Kim, we may have been in sync"

..
At any rate, I had about given up around 9:00 PM, when suddenly there was a fortuitous break in the cloud cover, in fact, almost like a hole had opened up just where it needed to be .. the Moon was 90% red, with a crescent slice on the right hand side of white .. I focused in and had a good closeup view, and a few minutes later, decided I would just watch with the naked eye, as our very distant ancestors had done .. fiddling with a telescope just seemed to place my attention on that task, rather than taking in the event ..
David, although I have tried my hand at Celestial photography, I've just never produced good results .. your photo was magnifico .. in my neck of the woods, you could have emailed that to the local news channels and likely gotten some air time and a credit mention ..
Now, I contemplate the idea that, at the same time, many of us were out craning our necks at the same time, looking at the same thing .. Namaste ..
It may seem like a stretch, but the confluence of the USA visit by Pope Francis and this event taking place on his last day here, had some sort of strange significance to me ..
