my right hand has been entirely numb since 2010. at the time, i was uninsured.

you should get a nerve conduction test as soon as possible. there are treatments, if you don't wait too long

Actually, I already know what's going on with me. I have three bulging discs in my neck. This has been going on for a few years now. I found out when I started having excruciating pain in my right neck and shoulder. Then I aggravated it with an on-the-job injury. An MRI revealed the bulging discs. Physical therapy for 8 weeks eased everything up. I was then good for a few years, and then a little over a year ago, my right shoulder started acting up again.

It got so bad that my daughter suggested that I see the chiropractor that she was using. As it turned out, I have a few little bone spurs and a little arthritis. However, within a month of seeing the chiropractor, I was pain free again. Then the mess moved over to my left shoulder and neck, along with the tingling in my little finger. I missed two appointments, and things escalated from there. The neck and shoulder issues are better. The left finger numbness has escalated to the left part of my hand that follows the little finger. It's aggravating, to say the least, but I can't stop moving. I just can't.

Here's a good article about what's coming this weekend regardless of the darn hurricane. We're gonna drown here in the Mid-Atlantic states. Anywhere from 5 to 20 inches of rain depending on exactly where your at. We've already got towels tucked in front of the sliding glass doors just to catch the water that's blowing against the doors and filling up the track.

Quick fly by from Colorado Springs this morning. Packing up the vehicle for the drive to Steamboat Springs for the weekend. How comes it is there's so many town names with Springs out here and it's so dang dry.

Had a wonderful meal last night ... surely am blessed to have two fine cooks in the family. My daughter might have or is at least on the verge of surpassing Janet's culinary skills. Why go out to a fine restaurant when home cooked meals are ust as good and they have fun cooking together.

I just wanted to let y'all know, that I'm going to be devious this morning. Last week when I got to work, we had an email stating that there was going to be an "all hands" meeting of material specialists this morning. It's not mandatory, but I'll get a free meal out of it, and the opportunity to ask questions. Yeah, they actually said to come armed with questions because the Director of Materials will be there. Now, you know, that's just the WRONG thing to tell me.......come armed with questions. BWAHAHahahahahahaha..............I figure almost nobody from the field will be there because of the people that are on hitch AND because others that live way out of town won't be coming if they don't get paid. So, somebody has to represent. It might as well be me. I promise that I will be totally professional and that I will aggravate them in the most professional way possible. :pervy:

Well, doggone it, Kay, I quoted your post, but it didn't take. Hip replacement? Wow! At least you have a good outlook about it.

I'm having shoulder and hand issues and I did get some relief from the chiropractor yesterday. Half of my left hand is numb. It's getting troublesome.

Hey Deb!Not for sure yet if it needs to be that drastic..I'll know better when i see the neurosurgeon. What i'm concerned about is the timing if it really will be hip surgery...as in messing up my fun-in-the-sun at the Tiki house!

Oh...and moving outa this place before I hurt the heathen woman that lives above me:D

My right hand has been tingly and/or numb for a couple months now, too, maybe you should have yours check out by an M.D. before it get worse.

Dennis, i know this advise was for Roto, but when i see the neurosurgeon I'm gonna mention doing this first before we go to the extreme of surgery.

Dennis! Is there such a thing as a nerve conduction for the brain?

Aw Roto...I sure wish you'd get these issues thoroughly checked out before it gets even worse! You're too lively and energetic to wind up crippled!!!

Scary!!!

recurrence-sc-oct2.png

"The maximum rainfall predicted to fall in any 24-hour period during the 5-day period from 5 am EDT October 2 to 5 am EDT October 7, according to a high-resolution Weather Research Forecast (WRF) model run done by MetStat, Inc. (http://www.metstat.com.) In some areas of North Carolina and South Carolina, 24-hour rainfall amounts one would expect to fall only once in a thousand years are predicted. MetStat computed the recurrence interval statistics based on gauge-adjusted radar precipitation and frequency estimates from NOAA Atlas 14 Volume 8, published in 2013 (http://dipper.nws.noaa.gov/hdsc/pfds/.) MetStat does not supply their precipitation recurrence interval forecasts or premium analysis products for free, but anyone can monitor the real-time analysis (observed) at: http://metstat.com/solutions/extreme-precipitation-index-analysis/ or on their Facebook page.

Using about a century of precipitation records, NOAA has constructed a Precipitation Frequency Data Server, which estimates how often we might expect to see extreme rainfall events recur. According to NOAA's Precipitation Frequency Data Server, these could be 1-in-1000 year rains for some locations. (Hydrologists would refer to a 1-in-1000-year rain as having a typical "recurrence interval" of 1000 years. The idea is that such events are not always separated by 1000 years; the same amount of rain could conceivably occur the very next year, or might not occur until thousands of years later.)"

Well, thank ya, Darlin'. They already know what's going on, and I will NOT let them cut on me unless it's absolutely necessary. Hence chiropractic.......which is working out for me pretty doggone good. My BIL has had 2 neck surgeries, and he's not doing worth a poop. Besides, they say the same thing.........no surgery unless it gets too bad.

And the meeting was a complete and utter bore. It wasn't the type of meeting I thought it was going to be , BUT, I did drag my supervisor to the side after the meeting and had a nice chat with him. :w00t: The other good thing about it was getting to see some old friends that I hadn't seen in a while.

Boring farts!!

Try to do something about it before it forces you to stop moving!

I feel for ya. It turns out that the noisy teenagers with the loud pulsing music happen to live right about this old lady's room. My daughter suggested I switch with my grandson. But, his room is smaller than mine. Thinking about it still.

As usual, in Texas it's gonna be dry. Imagine that!

I inverted the Scott Kelly pic of the sunset. It was either that or stand on my head to get the perspective to which I'm more accustomed.

What's being depicted is still a mystery to me. My best guess is that from the perspective Scott had from the space station, the sun is disappearing behind super-thick clouds rather than beyond the Earth's horizon. Doesn't it look like the sun is dropping into a lake or something?

Tell me you spoke with him in Cajun-ese .. ;)

Last discussion with my Dr ..

Willie : Hey, this lower back pain, although not debilitating yet, is gettin' kinda bad .. on some days, those Aleves are just not cutting it .. do you think we should do some x-rays or an MRI to see what's going on .. ??

DR : Why .. ?? To show me what I already know .. ?? You're getting older, you have bad posture, you're carrying 20 extra pounds you need to lose, you don't exercise regularly, you sit at a workbench hunched over for hours on end .. an x-ray or an MRI is gonna show your lower spine is experiencing disk compression .. it's normal, be glad it's not worse than it is .. you've not shrunk in height in the 20 years I've been seeing you ..

Willie : How about a refill on the opiates .. ?? Those really, really help when I really, really need them .. ;)

DR : Stop trying to continually get me to dish out the oxy or what not .. why not do Yoga or Pilates .. ?? Try some stretching exercises, walk more, lose the weight that I've been harping you on for 4 years .. the pills are just masking the issue, take things in your own hands .. if that does not help, we'll talk ..

Willie : Well, I thought maybe there was some surgery these days that could make the pain go away .. ??

DR : Or make it worse .. try to take my advice for a change ..

Wow! Stay safe! How's Miss Abby today?
Abby Dabby is doing great. A little tender for sure but, starting to move around a little more. Nice thing is she is leaving the area alone so we haven't needed that stupid elizabethan collar. She's laying in my lap as I type this. Thanks for asking. :)
