As the old saying goes, I out of the house and out of self today. Went and spent some time at the flight line today. Had a great time and only nose-dived one time, no damage. I think I have a stalker. lol

Mike and Janet reporting in;

We spent the weekend in Steamboat Springs. It was about a 4 hr drive, but at least for Janet and I it was a very scenic drive.

Saturday morning we took a small hike to Fishing Creek Falls. That's Kaitlin our daughter and her finance Brian. Yuck - Brian will be deployed to Afghan in November. He flys an Army Medvac 'copter.

The afternoon was spent at Strawberry Park Hot Springs. There were 4 pools ranging from hot to luke warm. We kept switching between them as the mood struck us.

Then for dinner we went to a steak house where it was 'grill your own'. They had a meat cooler where you picked out you steak, then over to the grill to prepare it. Not many people at the time and we had the grill and a bottle of wine to ourselves.

And to surprise Janet, a candle on an ice cream dish that looked like a giant baked potato when it was served. Happy Birthday Janet.

Great looking car!! Congrats!! But now you'll have to make yourself get out there and at least start it up from time to time. I let mine sit 2 weeks during a particularly cold spell, didn't go nowhere......squirrels ripped up the fire blanket under the hood and used it as nesting inside the engine compartment. It was the snacking on the spark plug wires that really caused the issues.

kewl!! Glad you had a fun safe time! Uhmmm.....if it follows you home do you get to keep it???
Didn't start the Motorhome for almost a month and had to jump through hoops and replace the battery. :)

And that's when it becomes more trouble than it's worth and I call somebody to come tow it away.

Things that I have to get out there and do are not in my wheelhouse. Things that others tell me I have to get out there and do are even less in my wheelhouse (as you possibly suspect already after knowing me from here and from the HO). Avoiding having such things to do is an area where I excel. I know my strengths.

:)

Nice looking car Dave. Now at least you can go when you want to, even if it's not very often. I agree though, you should at least start it up once a week just to remind it of what it's supposed to do. Wouldn't want to really need to go someplace and find that the squirrels have taken up residence!

A mixed blessing to be driving again; I'd learned to navigate the universe quite well without a vehicle.

Very high mileage, 184K, but amazingly clean for its age. 2003 Subaru Forester; no unpleasant surprises at all on my drive home from Raleigh; drives great, very comfortable, everything that I've thought to check works well. Knock on wood. First time I've driven and first time I've had a working vehicle in 33 months.

Congratulations, Bells! Not having a vehicle is one of my biggest fears.
Mine sat for 9 months & cost me 2500.00 to repair what would have been fine if I had just gone out & started it & let it run awhile & warm up. If you don't do anything else drive it to the mailbox & back several times a week.

JANET !!!

Awww, thank you so much. It's been a grand one out here with our daughter and her fiancee. Got to meet their new pup too. He's a mix of pug and miniature doberman so he looks like a big dog in a tiny body. He's only 17 lbs at 1-1/2 years old. We'll have to post a picture. They're calling him tank, as in Sherman. Brian ordered a name tag for him as S. Tank until he realized what that sounded like...

Sometimes going grocery shopping can be entertaining and 'rewarding' ...

Dis afternoon, while loading my $90 six plastic bags o' grits and provisions into my Tahoe, a lil' SUV drove down da next parking aisle toward da exit. I hear a shouted, " Are you my dad?" Looking up, I note a young (teen) female driving with a 13-15 yo male in da backseat, head out da window laughing.

Not recognizing da 'showoff', I ignored him fer a couple of seconds 'til he shouted out, "Are you gonna spank me?"

My near-spontaneous response, "Chances are very good that I AM your daddy!"

- female giggles from da SUV front seat
- shrieking three note laughter from da lady loading her car next to mine
-"Owned!" from a female clerk collecting shopping carts

Now that I think about it, maybe I do look young 'nuff to father a 15 yo azzhat... ... ...riiight!!!

Ah Sterno, whether that kitty joins you inside or not, you have been chosen!! We had a cat that looked similar to this one and I swear she and I could read each others minds. You gotta let us know what you're going to name her/him.

Just don't let it sit so long that trees start growing through the engine... :D
You're just trying to challenge me to see if I can do it. I'd probably have to leave the hood open for that to happen. Even these dadgum PITA gum trees need some light to grow. I have had two that grew up through the carport roof though, and one that broke a storm window on my house, a couple more that destroyed window screens on my house, and another that decided to wedge its top in between the siding and the soffit near my side door. Took about 10 years or so for all that to happen.

I definitely have more important things to figure out than that. For instance, how could Papa Bear's big bowl of porridge be too hot, Mama Bear's medium bowl be too cold, and Baby Bear's small bowl be just right? This defies the laws of thermodynamics.
