Actually, I only took 2 of the meds they gave me. 1 when I got home from surgery, then ibuprofen from then on (I take 3 every 4-6 hrs or when needed, I only weigh aboit 110 lbs). Then one Thurs am, about 3:30/4 am when I woke up feeling like crap. Empty stomach, big mistake! Well, I only made it worse! Other than that, as needed ibuprofen. 2 as needed.

But it's the codine that wracks me up! Better now, on the mend.

Ratty, I thought I quoted your post but, well, anyway, you rock! Your Dad is in good hands and I hope things continue to improve for you. You make me feel pink (which is good!)
Codine makes my stomach want to come out my mouth.

Congrats on the vape-a-versary. That's wonderful. So glad to hear from you again. Don't be such a stranger.

Yes you should be proud. That is awesome!

to your daughter.

Hmmmm? Wonder if it would dye my hair pink? Or I could take a beet bubblebath and just be awesome all over.

Had a very busy weekend. Decided I wanted to change bedrooms and then realized the other bedroom had a regular sized bed. So I moved the mattresses which is pretty hard to do all by yourself. But I did it. (of course) Queen is big enough for me and the girls but I sure wish I had a king sized one. Dad was a "...... upset" and told me I always had to be piddling. (I think he meant messing things up and not tinkling but either would be correct)
girl_haha.gif
Well I found another envelope with $1,335 in it. When I gave it to him he laughed and said, "Go piddle some more." bahahahaha I have to admit for a brief 30 minutes or so I thought about how good a vacation I could have with that money but I gave it to him. Again, there was no finders fee. GRRRR That brings his total up to finding close to $7000. I wish I knew how she squirreled away all that money.

She never worked. It was actually a bad idea. She could have at least bought a fireproof box to put it in. But I always did like easter egg hunts. heehee

Dad wanted to go eat fried chicken tonight. That's a really good sign that he is improving. He went to the cardiologist Friday but all they did was take his BP and weigh him. I would have felt better if they had of at least ran a ekg or something. Just makes me shake my head.

He fell in the den tonight. Nothing I couldn't use the styptic stick on and bandage. I'm getting pretty good at 1stAid. View attachment 501368 I am just so afraid that he is going to fall and break something. He's been lucky so far but at some point his luck might run out. Keep us in your good thoughts.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. :wub:uALL
Treasure hunts, redecorating & first aid! You've been busy! As he progresses, he.ll get better faster without the walker, but he has to continue those exercises from rehab to continue making new connections in his brain. His brain is relearning & training new areas to do even simple, routine things. He can recover most, if not all of what was interrupted in the stroke, but some of it won't happen overnight. He has a keep working at it or it won't happen.

YES! We have to keep correcting each other when Back Porch things creep onto the front porch!
I'm trying to work up to doing some mixing. But gotta order a couple of flavors, of course, to do the Golden Oreo I came across yesterday. [emoji47]

It's a plot. Our food is all out to get us! Quick, cook it & eat it before it gets one over on us!
Im about an inch from saying flog it all and eating as much bad stuff as possible, bacon martini anyone?

Yes, absolutely! As a matter of fact, let me respond to a couple of posts from the Front Porch here (since we were forgetting which porch we were on again).
When I stick for blood sugars, I knead the finger from bottom to top a couple of times, then hold pressure at the top while I'm sticking. It's a little tricky to hold the pressure when you are doing it on yourself, but you can kinda use your thumb to put pressure on a good bit of your fingertip. :)
Thank you. I'll try that.
I hate to say it but the best way to get nice drop is to poke a nice hole.
I do set it on the medium depth. But, that's my limit!

You could also add some warmth to your hands/fingers before having to stick. :)

ETA....wash hands in as warm of water that you can stand, rub them together, wear gloves for a bit, breath on them (not very antiseptic).....

Yams and sweet taters:
Not many of us have ever eaten a yam. I haven't. They're not native to the Americas. Most of them are grown in Africa. What we generally refer to as yams are not yams at all. They're sweet potatoes.

http://www.thekitchn.com/whats-the-difference-between-yams-and-sweet-potatoes-word-of-mouth-211176

I like sweet potatoes, prepared simply. I've started to cook them fairly often.

I found out something today that has totally revolutionized my enjoyment of fresh asparagus: to separate the inedible part of the stalk from the good part, hold it by the ends and bend it 'til it breaks. Toss or compost everything below the break. What a difference, as opposed to trying to guess where to cut it before grilling or steaming. Thanks Internet!
