Good morning, porchers

http://www.bbc.com/news/health-34615621

my life is over...
They say no one knows exactly how they'll die.....but apparently........I'll die with bacon grease smeared all over the huge smile on my face!!

But gotta order a couple of flavors, of course, to do the Golden Oreo I came across yesterday.

oh that sounds interesting, mind sharing the recipe?

Now they're lying about bacon, and they are trying to tell us chocolate is no longer an essential dietary component.
They're just tryin to keep all the chocolate and bacon for themselves!!!

Done at the doc. I'll get the results on Thursday. Looked OK from what I could see but, what do I know. :)
prayers for ya hun, and Doree too......and since Dr Matt says it looks great, I'm sure it is!! :)

I found out something today that has totally revolutionized my enjoyment of fresh asparagus: to separate the inedible part of the stalk from the good part, hold it by the ends and bend it 'til it breaks. Toss or compost everything below the break
Jup, learned that quite a few years ago from Rachael Ray, long before I'd ever eaten any fresh asparagus. My dad made me eat some out of a can one time when I was a kid, and turn the color of asparagus at the mere mention of it. Once I finally tried fresh asparagus, I loved it!!!! Still want to try the white asparagus.

Bigbells Precision Design Laboratory proudly brings to you the Nexus 7 tablet holder attachment for the Phantom 3 Standard remote control.

Note the attention to detail. The sturdy straps which bind the tablet to the remote control are elasticized natural rubber which is replaceable. In accordance with BPDL's committment to environmental responsibility, the straps are certified "green".

And now, BPDL introduces the BIO, or Battery Inventory Organizer, made entirely from a cardboard box and cellophane tape.

A bisected inclined plane is incorporated into the BIO. Charged 18650 batteries are inserted through one of two openings at the top of the inclined plane. The user selects which opening to use, depending on the amperage rating of the batteries. batteries of 10 amps or less go in the right side while batteries greater than 10 amps go in the left side. Batteries remain in order of insertion and are easily removed via the openings at the bottom of the inclined plane.

I am not feeling the need, although for the first time there was something I bought that if I had a 3-D printer I could have made myself. It was the ring that came with the filters for my drone camera, designed to hold the filter over the lens using a press fit. Seller charges 100 times what it costs him to 3-D print but I'm still way ahead of where I'd be if I bought a 3-D printer. It's the first time I would have used one if I had one.

I have a shelf in my secretary. An organizer tray holds my hardware. My charger sits on top of the tray. That tray is three inches from the end of the boxed-in end of the shelf. My last-charged battery goes in the back corner of the shelf. My ohmeter is in front of my first-charged battery. When I want a fresh battery, my hand automatically goes to that battery.

Simplicity and economy of design.

Good morning, porchers

http://www.bbc.com/news/health-34615621

my life is over...

No problem I'll still eat bologna and bacon, and spam and tastekakes and glazed donuts, etc. etc.

I've long been a proponent of eating junk food and other foods supposedly not good for you. I maintain its for the betterment of the human race. We have to start mutating to allow us to consume these non-healthy foods so when such time comes we can't produce enough healthy food we can go on. Someone has to start it. :D

Jury duty confirmed, tomorrow, yay me

Last stinkie October 15, 2013

hmmm! I guess I lost my 'key question' to lawyers and judges when I've been 'interviewed' for sitting on a jury.

final moments of the interview:

Them: Do you have any questions for us.
Me: How often do we get smoke breaks?
Them: Why?
Me: I smoke 3 packs a day. I get jittery and lose concentration if I don't have a cigarette for 15 or so minutes.
Them: Dismissed.

I've long be a fan of REI for outdoor clothing and equipment. Good for them. [HASHTAG]#optoutside[/HASHTAG]

"Outdoor gear and sporting goods retailer REI is canceling Black Friday this year. No promotions, no hourly sales, no doorbusters, no waiting in line.

In an unprecedented move for the modern-day holiday shopping season, REI's 143 stores will be closed the day after Thanksgiving"

I found out something today that has totally revolutionized my enjoyment of fresh asparagus: to separate the inedible part of the stalk from the good part, hold it by the ends and bend it 'til it breaks.

Oh my, da stories I could tell of being stationed in Idaho and harvesting wild asparagus with my bud, a lil' Ford Courier P/U and a case o' da 'hops'!

If ya haven't eaten a white asparagus spear (no or lil' sun exposure) freshly picked wid a sip or two or... of da 'hops', you've missed out on a tasty bucket list item! Since dey were somewhat a scarce find, have to admit dat almost none made it to back to da homestead...

Toss or compost everything below the break...

... after ya crunch/smash 'em and then add 'em to any veggie stock ya make fer soups!

But alas, it's a rare event when I can find decent (tasty) fresh asparagus in da markets anymore. Bought a tray of white ones last month... what an expensive disappointment.
BTW, give me mine either raw fresh picked or grilled/roasted wid butter, olive oil and a bit of s&p!

....I'll die with bacon grease smeared all over the huge smile on my face!

Which is why, in part, your complexion is lovely!

... so when such time comes we can't...

... reproduce, excepting da non-GMOs of course.

Jury duty confirmed, tomorrow, yay me

I luv jury duty! Having served 20 years in da USAF, I will say that JD is da highest service a civilian can perform for their community/nation. Be informed, proud and serve well!

Served on a murder trail several years and wound up as jury foreman. What an educational, fulfilling and rewarding experience! Earnestly and eagerly awaiting my next opportunity to serve JD again. <and no, I was not a JD in my youth... although some may disagree, if they're still 'round>

Must say dat I've been immersed in quadcopter research for a week or so. Day-um, 'round here if ya snooze and/or booze, ya got a lotta catchin' up to do!

I have asparagus at least 2x a week, and after I've snapped them, he uses the bottoms for soups which he makes almost daily.

Just popping in my head to say "Hello" and to make sure that Debadoo and Kenna didn't disappear amidst all the rainfall that they had. Yes, you guys passed it on to us over here.

I was busier than a one legged man in an ... kicking contest out here until yesterday. All of that came to an abrupt halt once the storming started yesterday afternoon. Weather events can seem a little dramatic out here since there is basically nothing to stop the wind and being almost on top of the Gulf of Mexico. Before I came to work yesterday, I was up on the levee checking out the surf, and it was mad as hell. Not too long after that, the rain starting coming down. The wind was kicking even before the rain started. I went to supper last night dressed in full rain suit. :w00t:

It stormed all night long last night. We lost power multiple times. We lost Internet and Cable TV. (Welcome to Grand Isle) Couldn't get diddly done except packing parts without Internet. Instead, I watched weather last night... it was pretty fascinating. Those helicopters tied down on the flight line were rocking. We doggone near paddled back to the apartments last night. We couldn't get a parts truck last night either as Hwy 1 was closed at the locks due to water being over the road.

Right now we are basically cut off from the rest of civilization. They closed Hwy 1 at the locks after 5 due to high tide and being impassable with water. All I can say is that water better go somewhere before Wednesday and time for me to come home.

Glad everybody is safe and sound. Hugs to those of you are are not feeling well. Hugs to everybody just because I can! :D
