interesting vectors this thread has developed into...

i spend 1/2 my time thinking i'm a mature adult- the other half thinking i'm still that goofy kid stuck in the 60's. methinks i can grin, bear, moan and whine with equal measure (that was for you, yiddle :) ). i guess its a mindset thing.

i spent most of my life in Silicon Valley helping to develop some of this technology that y'all mention. But, like most of US, my kids now know it better than me.

does anyone remember buying encyclopedias from the markets that didn't have green stamps? over the years, i think mom bought A-C several times over. i don't think we ever made it to D... my education was appropriately skewed...

i think i had a point, but apparently i forgot it :)

young folks are fine with me. i only wish us old folks had left them with a better environment. chances are they'll end up having to deal with more crap than us boomers. that said...

... get offa my lawn!

WE also made the system. either thru direct, indirect or inaction.

Yepper, I guess I can call my voting self one of da losers; although my votes were never bought...

OK, I'm in a maudlin mood with this being the 14th 9/11 anniversary. So I'll just try to make 'funnies' like our pols and deflect real reality.

BTW, speakin' of reality, if ya dare, Google '9/11 jumpers' and get back to me later... <click>

We had the World Book Encyclopedia complete with annual updates for about 10 years. I still managed to get lousy grades!
We had Colliers with the updates. I would page through them & read whatever caught my attention. And lived in anticipation of library visit's. My Grandson volunteered at the library several summers, starting in Jr High.

My family could never have afforded an encyclopedia set.

My dad got me the whole set of Funk & Wagnals from the grocery store that you got each week. That's what I used all the way through school. In fact. . . there in the closet right now. They never got rid of anything. My potty training chair is also here. bahahahahaha And no, I don't use it anymore.

Luv ya, Sweetheart!!!

We had the World Book Encyclopedia. Read em all.

Still have my Britannica's - my daughter read them all. She says the history in them is cool and she still enjoys a hard back over a digital book... But she is not giving up her tablet or her laptop for them... and I am not giving up mine...

Tech has its place and is beneficial. Shoot I made a living at it for years...

History's written by the victors, and the "winners" have changed, ergo...

Watching the XFinity race on NBCSN and heard Carl Edwards use "plethora" correctly in a complete sentence. Guess the days of true "redneck racing" are over.

got me a v-max v3 and a vamo v5 for 10 bucks each
kewl!!!

Went right to bed but, woke up like a switch was flipped around 1mm and that was it until about 6 when I finally went back to bed.
One sign that maybe you're a bit too obsessed with vaping is when you wake up at 1mm

Thought of the day: It's amazing where sand can go if you play in it long enough.:D
I used to laugh at tourists when I lived in Galveston.......they'd go to the surf shops and pay 1.00 for a vial of "Real Galveston Sand" I'm like, this is the same stuff that you just spent 30 minutes :-x at....and tryin to get outta yur underwear!!!

(don't tell Deb or Kay) but. . .

it is not definite.
didn't hear that!! She didn't say it
The Twin Towers weren't the only 'cherished' icons and focus that have crumbled within our nation in our life times...

Amen!!

Does anyone here know the first thing about making soap from scratch?
I actually have made soap from scratch, but you made an excellent point.

WE raised the younger generation. Think about it.
well in most of our cases, we raised the ones that are raising that younger generation

Don't have to google it ... it's been a picture in my mind all day.

To all o my poacher friends, get a small wet/dry vac and suck out the drain pipe every time you change out the A/C filter when you pay your electric bill Every month. Then put a little water back into the the j trap so you don't suck air into the drain. Your A/C can cause a back draw of air to stop proper drainage and cause a flooding of your drain pan. And turn off your a/c to put a q1/4 cup of clorex in the drain pan to kill off the algea/ mold growth in the drain system. about 20 min a month. Save ya a ton of money on service calls.
