I'd like to invite a few soldiers from post that have no family nearby.

AWESOME if ya can!

Had a sumptuous Thanksgiving feast with a young family including two pre-teens on a small ranch outside Perrin AFB, Tx in '66. They contacted my first sergeant to invite three airman over for the day. He asked me and two of my barrack mates. Not only yeah, but YEAH!

I just hope that family felt the joy they generated within three young airman that beautiful Thanksgiving day!

...then realized I've been here for three weeks...I thought it was two at the most!

That means you're HOME!

This always makes me choke up but I cant stop listning to it.

Same here! Where's da 'luv' button?

Iffy didn't say whether the tech was a he, a she, or other.

He's an older semi-retired gent (late-60s) with a Mr. Rogers low-key persona; very knowledgeable, observant and sharp!

Revenge? It is your fault that they are here in the first place...

Payback fer their terrible twos and teens years!

If you want a great movie on that order, check out "Taking Chance" with Kevin Bacon. Tear jerker fur shure.

Happens to be on HBO this Wednesday. Will watch...

Odd name for it tho. FWIW, "Chance" is the name of the soldier being returned home to his final resting place. Fills yer heart with pride and yer eyes with tears. Real sleeper to me.

For thanksgiving around here I will probably do what I always do. Pack the hubby off to Thanksgiving dinner with his family and I will stay here fend for myself on dinner and either muck about with the computer or watch old movies. I just don't do big crowds and his family get togethers often end up being over 100 people in one small house. Social Anxiety disorder can make such things really tough. Don't feel sorry for me guys. I am not big on hollidays and sitting home alone does not bother me at all.

100 people in one small house.

Couldn't do that either. We do a small dinner - the most we normally have these days is 5 or 6 people. We always invite someone - they do not always show up - no problem - more turkey for me later...

My days of large groups is over. I can handle 20 or 30, but never 100 crammed together...
