Makes total sense.

Just a stab in the dark, but I've been in bureaucracies and know that sometimes creative ways to move things along are needed. So, maybe. Or maybe she is totally sans bed side manner :)

Pat,

Ya got dat new iPhone, use it on voice record! Den take it to her dept head and don't ferget to use record wid him/her also!
You know I should but I don't want to cause any problems because the VA is doing a lot for me, some of which was on her recommendations, I just don't like her. It took them 6 months to get her. For some reason doctors don't want to work for the VA. Now I hear of talk about privatizing it and cuts in Medicare. I'm going to get what I can while I can. Our VA here lost their oncologist, never replaced and no plans, closed the emergency dept lack of doctors made it an urgent care with a 4 hour wait to see a doc, also no plans on reopening it, closed the use of excercise equipment by vets, they had a petition about that which I signed, picketers were out in front for that and the emergency dept, nothing got done. The last ER doc they had was arrested for child porn and they found a ton of it at his house plus he was getting young boys to come in and have some cocoa and he drugged it and took them over the state line. He lived in this area. Locked him up forever and no plans to replace him. I don't know if it's the money or what that particular doc was making $250K a year they gave that on the news. I guess thats not much for a doc these days. They seem to get a lot of good nurses and other techs but doctors not so much. I have to see her Dec 29th for my yearly and that would have been my second face to face with her but I decided to go to her about my coughing stuff up. The radiologist made all the recommendations from there to the oncologist and pulmonologist. That CT was already a planned appointment. Other then her they do really good by me and are now sending me to good doctors of my choice in the community after the politicians put 3.9bil into the program to keep it a float. As long as I don't have to see her I'm going to be a fly on the wall and let the other guys do their thing. They have some pretty good people there and I think even some good docs there I just didn't get one. The guy she replaced who went to be a concierge doc was a great guy very personable and would do everything he could for you. I had him for 3 years and he made it possible for me to get such good treatment from them. I'm sure he's doing well. So I will go to the civilian specialists and might put in for a different PCP. I know there are some good ones cause I have friends that have them. She is just not one.

I wonder if these thrift stores that take stuff from people and resell it would take furniture and older TV's. I have 3 25" tvs color all work great but they are the old style, would either need a tuner or cable box, I have a stereo cabinet with glass doors perfect shape, a tv and stereo cabinet also perfect, a desk and some other things. For someone who had nothing they would be great. I'd put them on Craigs List but I don't want strangers coming in our house. I have some old style speakers a subwoofer. I had my chance to get rid of them about 4 years ago but couldn't bring myself to send them to the dump, figured someone could use them. Now they are all too heavy for us to even get them upstairs. I just hate throwing perfectly good stuff away thats why we have so much. Thought of getting a dumpster and hiring a couple of guys to haul it out to it but they want just about $750+ for that a 20yd one and one trip. So it would end up costing over $1000 to throw pefectly good stuff away.

Check with the thrift shop before you haul your old TV's to them. Our local shop won't take TV's older than a certain manufactured date even if they work. Not sure why they have a cut-off date but they do.

Brainstorming alternatives. Hold a garage sale. A bit late in the season, but if you don't have a garage, rent one, and hire someone to haul the stuff there.

Also, you can do the above and list it in the newspaper.

Auctioneers sometimes combine several small batches of stuff, particularly if there are older and have some value.

You could also work your FB page to find local listings. Again, if someone is coming to check stuff out, get an imposing person to supervise them. There are plenty of local listings on FB around here. My kindle once apparently died, and I panicked, and ordered another. I sold the new one at cost, and recouped my money.

Give 'em a call? Or maybe there's a Habitat place local to you? If so, they may take it - and even come get it.

Goodwill and St. Vincent De Paul are other places that can take the stuff and give you a statement for tax purposes.

I prefer to have an uncluttered apartment. Afraid of tripping and falling. And I just decided to roll up a rug I have on my carpeted floor.

We get snow once in 20 years. It's not 20 years yet, might be 10. All we get is colder humidity or ice.

Yeah but 20 years has changed into 10 years the way things are changing so fast around us.

Not much down here. There are cycles & influences from El Niño or El Niña that effect us some years. We are having an early cold snap (no frost) which happens around Halloween some years. Then we'll go back to not having a cold spell untill maybe Thanksgiving or even Christmas. But none of that will fall below the low 40's at night. Then we'll cycle back to a cold snap around Halloween. Apparently our weather is directly attached to holidays. The last snow we got in my town was 6" on Christmas Eve. It was wonderful, 2 days later not a spot of snow, even in the shade. All the kids were overjoyed, snowmen everywhere. That's where all the 6" of snow went. Into medium sized, dirty snowmen. And Mama's going around knocking the boobs off all the snowladies. It would be cool if it happened again.

We don't usually get snow this early or this cold of temps. Kind of a freak storm with precipitation coming in from the coast and pulling a bunch of cold air down from Canada to greet it. Doesn't sound good at all.
Yuk. Sounds like an ice storm. East Texas gets those often. Our warm & humid Gulf air goes up & hits a Canadian cold front & it's black ice on all the roads for days. No fun unless you can stay home. We get ice on bridges & overpasses maybe every 2-3 years. It's been this way my whole life. I can remember being 4 & seeing snow for the first time while I was visiting my grandparents in Decatur, TX. I didn't see it again until I was 8 & we moved to Columbia, MO. I've only been in snow 5 or 6 times in my life. Ice is another matter.

Freezing rain, which turns to ice as soon as it hits the ground is a common phenomena in NJ. There were a number of times I had to stay overnight in the casino because AC is an island. I, like most employees, lived on the mainland and the bridges weren't traversable.
