People fight to get stuff

One year several years back - I had a lady yank it out of my hands as I was walking up to the register to buy something - it seems they had ran out and she really wanted one real bad... I did not put up a fight, but it started one anyways with some of the other shoppers...

Big burrito, sliced honey ham from grocery deli, canned turnip greens, brown rice, horseradish/mustard/ketchup sauce. Hottened it up, added the last of a tomato, and rolled it up.

During the consumption process, positioning my elbows higher than my wrists at all times kept my forearms reasonably dry. Of course I could have drained the turnip greens better, but I don't think it would have tasted as good.

Well, did everyone get in their Black Friday shopping (LOL). We went out to two stores with our daughter - she has to try it on to buy it... I guess we spent about 1.5 hrs out and about - the rest has been done online so far...

We went out on Friday and bought this Lazy Boy. We looked at it last weekend, it was on sale for 28% off. Janet took fabric samples home to decide on color. When we when back on BF, it we saved a bit more ... new sale price $32% off.

I cannot count the number of fights I had to break up or try to stop from getting started in the first place during all the years I was in retail. Black Friday really wasn't such a big deal when it started. Retailers deliberately do not stock enough mdse to cover anywhere near what they know they'll sell that one day.

Good deal - kind of made it tax free...

I bought a new router at Best Buy - learned that they do not price match on Black Friday - not even their own web site - they made me go back home - order it on line and then go back to the store and pick it up - normally I would not bother, but it was on sale for $100 off - had to. I complained to the manager - he said - That's the rules...

Our daughter recently bought a similar one from La-Z-Boy and since we liked it ... we shopped that brand. It could take 4-6 weeks for delivery ... so don't look for an opinion soon. Oh, it comes standard as a rocker, but we added the swivel option. The same basic chair in the 'glide' model ... we didn't like that one. It felt completely different and not as comfortable.

Lazy Boys are great. My sister still has my Dad's that he got in the late 60's. Her husband had it recovered for her. They used to have lifetime warranties on working parts. Don't know if they still do. I'm not crazy about most recliners now days. The seats & backs are too soft & I sink down in them h the headrest isn't soft at all & makes me sit with my head tilted forward & my shoulders rounded. I got one that I could have the seat & back cushions adjusted with more fill & support.

I have to add extra springs to recliners. My upper body weight makes them flop down to completely horizontal as soon as I start tipping back. (I save the springs when I scrap a worn out recliner and install them as extras on the new one.) Currently all my recliners (in home theater) have motors, so they stay where set. (But I'm still keeping my spring collection in case I get an unpowered recliner in the future.)

The one I have now does the same thing as soon as I raise the leg rest.

Oh boy its off to the hospital day surgery to get a tube stuck down my nose to my stomach then drink crap. Sound like fun? No anastetic either except for some spray to numb your nose.
Oh man.

In other news: The Mom should be home this evening. The Sister is very frustrated with the hospital & has stayed on them to get Mom showers, linens changed out, home health arranged, etc.
And I have another infusion tomorrow.

I need some input from some of my fellow "experienced" folks about Medicare. Well, Medigap plans actually.

I'm closing in on my 65th birthday. I've done a lot of research and have a pretty good understanding of what is offered through the various Medigap plans. For instance, I know Plan F is the top-tier plan and also the most expensive. Plan C is very, very similar in both benefits and cost. It looks like both those will cost just over $140 per month in my state.

The thing is, there are other plans that cost less in terms of premiums, but there are some deductible costs on the back end.

Since the plans are standardized no matter where you live, I was wondering if anyone could share what plan they have and if they are happy with it.

Thank you all for the info
.

Legs have you had that done before? I have …three times. The last one was when I had the intestinal blockage back in May because nothing was going through as my stomach had stopped working alltogether and I was at risk for an over all infection and therefore death. Had it in for a week until my stomach started working again and waste fluids started going through again. No spray to numb my nose because there is no pain involved.

The only unpleasant part is that your gag reflex kicks in big time. Once it gets down your throat it's all good.

We went through this research too about 5 years ago.

In our house hubs is in charge of health insurance stuff so here is what he has to say: "You might want to look into Medicare supplemental insurance plans such as Humana and the like. AARP also has one for its members. With these types of pland you don't need Medigap.

We have our supplemental through Humana which had several different plans, some with higher copays than others, some are HMOs and others are PPOs (HMOs are less expensive but you cannor choose your doctor where as with PPOs you can choose your doctor).

Our plan is called Humana Medicare Advantage, it's a PPO, and until now cost us $95 each per month but going up to $98 next year. Our copays for our general physicisn are $5, no matter how many visits, specialists are $40 and ER $75. We get bloodwork twice a year, and a complete physical once a year at no cost. My prescriptions are $4 at Walmart, don't know how much they would cost elsewhere although hubs has one that cost $24 for a 3 month supply."

BTW if you go with Humana their call center is great. Very little hold time and their employees are very knowledgeable and helpful. Humana also has the "Silver Snickers" card. With it you can go to participating gyms completely free. We have a Heartland close to us and we use their eliptical and weight machines five days a week. In some areas you can also take advantage of various classes, also free.

Thanks so much, Bea, and please thank your hubby for his help. I'm still considering the Medicare Advantage plans as well as original Medicare with a Medigap plan added. If I go the latter route, I'll also have to add a Part D prescription drug plan. Seems most of the Advantage plans come with the drug plan already included.
