Our plan is called Humana Medicare Advantage

Bea covered it well. My mother and aunt were with this plan for 10 years and never had a real problem so to speak. I changed them from their AARP plan to Humana once they moved in with us.

If you like to travel - read the fine print well in whatever plan you choose. Some do not cross state lines even if you are on vacation except in emergency cases and the cost factors were different over the state lines. Can't remember the details on the Humana plan, but theirs was the least restrictive from the various plans I researched for them.

Hmmm, you got me confused, Bea. What should I look at?
Sorry Mike. I was told once that we are not allowed to post the same thing on multiple threads so I posted the link. Click on it to get you to the original post. It's about a FREE Joytech AIO just for shipping and tax (my cost was $3.77) from Mt Baker.

Oh, OK. I saw that on the other thread with Chels and Rainsong. Wound up deciding against getting one (since I couldn't get three, if that makes sense). Actually, just decided I don't want to start buying more coils. I'm fully set up with Joyetech Mega Ones and Twos and Trons with CLR coils along with a few eLeaf tanks.

Thanks. I'm pretty familiar with the travel aspects, but, in truth, I ain't going anywhere. Did you switch them from the AARP product only because of the travel thing or were there other reasons?

AARP is hooked up with United HealthCare now. When my mom signed up 20 years ago, it was Blue Cross/Blue Shield. United is good insurance, but I have a negative feeling toward them right now. I have their health insurance, and they're raising my rates by $100 per month starting Jan. 1. I've never even used the insurance.

I don't plan to buy coils either. I figured it will be a fun, disposable toy while its coil lasts :)

I still use my GS Air tanks most of the time.

I still use mine, too. And, I rebuild the 1.5Ω coils. Not that I'm a glutton for punishment. No, not at all.

I need some input from some of my fellow "experienced" folks about Medicare. Well, Medigap plans actually.

I'm closing in on my 65th birthday. I've done a lot of research and have a pretty good understanding of what is offered through the various Medigap plans. For instance, I know Plan F is the top-tier plan and also the most expensive. Plan C is very, very similar in both benefits and cost. It looks like both those will cost just over $140 per month in my state.

The thing is, there are other plans that cost less in terms of premiums, but there are some deductible costs on the back end.

Since the plans are standardized no matter where you live, I was wondering if anyone could share what plan they have and if they are happy with it.
I have a Plan F wife too, the one we have is also part of the RR retirement so they pay some. It is very similar to the AARP Plan F except I believe that one has deductibles and it costs more. Ours a $185 each and covers everything that Medicare doesn't including the Medicare deductibles as long as the place whatever it may be accepts Medicare assignment as full payment. It is really good. Never get a bill for anything doctor or procedure related. Have never used it for hospital but it is also supposed to cover everything there. Have never had a problem with it and it's nice to not get a bill or if we do it is 0. So thats my experience. The prescription thing is another story, We have the I think it is Cost Saver through AARP, it's only $35 each a month but there is a $450 deductible and the copays are a little steep on some things. But they have calculators which you plug in your regular prescriptions and it will tell you what is the cheapest way to go. Some of our prescriptions aren't covered by all policies, so you have to check that out. Then there are the Advantage plans which limits the doctors because not all will take all plans but I know a few people who swear by theirs. They cover the supplement and pharmaceutical and Medicare. For us with the supplement that is available for retired railroaders it was kind of a no brainer the Plan F which is drugs is one that is different not all cover all drugs and they are limited at least for us by the county you live in.

Thanks so much, Bea, and please thank your hubby for his help. I'm still considering the Medicare Advantage plans as well as original Medicare with a Medigap plan added. If I go the latter route, I'll also have to add a Part D prescription drug plan. Seems most of the Advantage plans come with the drug plan already included.
You can't have both, if you have an advantage plan that covers it all they collect from medicare and work as the supplement also.

Legs have you had that done before?
No and it was miserable for me. She had me snort in some lidocaine but she had a really hard time getting it to go through the bottom part of my esophagus and normal for me she had never seen anything quite like mine turned out. The lower part is not opening and she is going to have to discuss it with the doc. Nothing is easy when it comes to my insides. Plus she kept talking and talking about what this test was going to look for and how she was going to do it for about 40 min. I just wanted her to shut up and do it. Sitting there with a Qtip shoved in my nose all the way to the hilt while she was talking. Not my most fun procedure. Shes hoping she didn't have the catheter doubled over which it didn't look like to her.

Yep. My wording was probably confusing, but I'm aware of what you're saying.

Plan F is the top of the line, Legss, though Plan C is almost the same, and almost as expensive. It's easy to tell that F is the best plan because that's what the politicians have...lol.

Plan G is the sneaky good one. It's just like F except you have to pay the Part B deductible (which is up to $183 per year). But, it's about $20 per month cheaper, so you actually save $240 per year (minus ever how much of that $183 deductible you spend).

I'm going to take another hard look at the Medicare Advantage plans. Still have a few weeks to decide what I want to do.

Good deal - kind of made it tax free...

I bought a new router at Best Buy - learned that they do not price match on Black Friday - not even their own web site - they made me go back home - order it on line and then go back to the store and pick it up - normally I would not bother, but it was on sale for $100 off - had to. I complained to the manager - he said - That's the rules...

Well, that's just stupid.

Oh Legs I'm so sorry. It sounds like you had a nurse who hasn't done many of these. Nothing can be done about the gag reflex but if the nurse is experienced with the procedure she gets it done pretty fast. My last nurse had done it many times. She inserted the tube nice and fast.

As far as knowing how far to insert the tube to ensure it reaches the bottom of the stomach my last nurse said they have a really "scientific" ;) formula. You measure the patient from the elbow to her nose and that's how far you insert it!

The one before that was not as smooth. She had only done it a couple of times.

Lazy Boys are great. My sister still has my Dad's that he got in the late 60's. Her husband had it recovered for her. They used to have lifetime warranties on working parts. Don't know if they still do. I'm not crazy about most recliners now days. The seats & backs are too soft & I sink down in them h the headrest isn't soft at all & makes me sit with my head tilted forward & my shoulders rounded. I got one that I could have the seat & back cushions adjusted with more fill & support.

I too hate the chairs that make your head tilt forward!! And for some reason a lot of the chairs and couches have very big cushions so my feet don't reach the floor if I'm sitting upright. Makes me feel like Lily Tomlin. What are short people supposed to do? I can't slouch because it really messes up my back. The Lazy Boy works for me because most of them have normal seats. And yes, they still have the lifetime warranty on moving parts so that's nice. I also like their wingback chairs that recline, but I do wish the mechanism to bring the foot part up was not so stiff. I'm assuming that will loosen up with time.
