Apparently us older folks are more likely to have a detached retina if we need glasses for far vision, or have had cataract surgery or have glaucoma, or a serious eye injury. So I copied the symptoms from the leaflet we were given so if you experience any of them you'll call your eye doctor immediately.

Thanks for this list. As a reader who depends on his eyes for maintaining sanity, I won't forget this list of signs. Thanks, again.

And as someone who has just had one cataract surgery and is waiting to get the second, let me extend my hopes that the retina reattachment is successful and remains trouble-free for all time.

Good morning Good Folks

A chilly start to the day here this morning but the sun is out, hopefully it'll warm up nicely... I'd like to go fly at a place about 20 miles from here called Ficklin Mill. It's a good size pond with a man-made waterfall/Dam and some old buildings... pretty place.

Y'all have a nice day now, ya hear? :)

A funny TV commercial that's been airing for quite some time finally made me curious enough to ask Google: "Do hawks use the stars to navigate"?

The search led to this interesting article: The Basics: How Birds Navigate When They Migrate

Is it hard to cook 20 potatoes at once in a 5 quart electric pressure cooker? Nah, it's small potatoes.

View attachment 729267 Steam still rising from potatoes but I wanted to take a pic before I ate 3 of them.
Speaking of pressure cookers, I've been using my Instant Pot for about a month and I'm really glad to have a pressure cooker again.

HOWEVER, the slow cooker part of the IP is not as efficient as my old crockpot. The high setting on the IP is about the same as the low setting on my crockpot but it doesn't cook harder veggies such as carrots as soft as the crockpot. The good news is when that happens I just turn the IP to pressure cooking for a couple minutes and they're done!

Well... I finally got the test results back, and that's exactly what my dog has. :( :( :(
Part of me feels relieved to know it's not been my fault (thinking the food I've given him, or something in the environment, or anything else I've thought over the past 4 yrs). The other part of me is dreading how I'm going to deal with this financially. I'm currently unemployed, but in school. I should have a pretty decent paying job within two years where covering the cost of meds along that price point wouldn't be an issue, but right know, I'm flat broke and with no income. The only thing I could do is sell my home, which I'm truly trying to avoid doing. I'd have to completely re-locate, which would turn my life upside down since I have a kid that goes back & forth between myself and his dad. I would have to completely move out of my area. The timing of this just stinks. :'( :'(
Yeah she had a really hard time pulling the old girl out of it and nearly $1000. Her nose was covered with scabs and her paws. It took her about 3 months to get her back to somewhat normal. Now she just looks like an old German Shorthair. She has her moments tho. She has to take 40mg of prednisone every other day and on the other days she takes and immune suppressant. She is doing pretty good. They put them in the Kennel for a few days while they came up here and she got Giardia I think its called so more money. She calls her the most expensive dog she has ever had. I don't know how much longer she has, they are expecting their first baby in June or maybe May if she has to have a C Section and she is over 11 years old which is pretty old for that breed. We had one that made it to 14 but her sister died at 10, complications from meds she had to be on. Love the breed but they have their problems.
