They left a big concentrator for use around the house and 15 small bottles and 4 big bottles for emergencies. She feels better already.

If you use an "intermittent regulator" on the oxygen bottles rather than a "steady flow" regulator you will get a lot more time per bottle. Concentrators come in two sizes. The big ones are for users who require more than 5lpm. The smaller ones are the ones most users have and supply from 1 to 4 lpm. Also keep at least one bottle set up and ready to go in case of power outage. Regulators are not easy to attach and set up correctly without any available light. I purchased a couple of portable concentrators because using the bottles is just not my thing especially on a trip or even around town.

Went to bed at 11 got up at 3. Couldn't sleep anymore. Did get a nap in my chair from 6AM to 9AM which is the best I have done since this all started. Ginny's headaches have stopped since the O2 and she feels a little better. This not knowing is a beech. Just hoping when they get done everything is benign read the radiologist report from her CT and he was not encouraging at all. But he's just looking at a pic. We'll see, I would think they would do a PET scan before a biopsy but who knows.

Yeah, waiting is the pits, but it's only 2 more days to go. Try to do things to distract you from thinking about it. I know that's way easier said than done. Maybe check out some movies or reading? Take naps or maybe make something that you really enjoy eating.

Exactly that is why the doc ok'd the intermittent regulator. Your supposed to get 9 hours on the small bottle with that 1 1/2 without. We will find out tomorrow. Leaving about 9AM and returning about 5PM. Going to take 2 spare bottles with us just in case. I've been looking at portable concentrators, the one I have been looking at was rated as the best from last year it is an Innogen 1 G3. Price is $2500 but with spare single and double batteries, a home and car charger, a carrying case, and a lifetime warranty with immediate replacement directly from Innogen. With all of that it is $3500. Weight is a little over 5 lbs with a double battery, dbl last 9hours single 4 1/2. It isn't cheap but if this turns out to be a lifetime thing which is sounding more possible, I think it would be worth it for her. Our first try with the bottles is tomorrow.

Things are happening fast she has a lung function test and appt with lung specialist, Thursday biopsy at the Main Hospital. The plan to put her under and then the local. The appointment on next Wednesday with the Oncologist and he is hoping the results will be in by then. Guess the testing is pretty complex as is the biopsy which is why they will put her under for a short time. The Lung Specialist is going to do it himself and she'll be at the best hospital in town. I'm also seeing if the VA since they can't help me with my powerchair which I don't really need yet since they gave me a Rollator is Hand Controls for the Subaru. If they won't the price is $1600. Between that and portable concentrator will just about wipe out what little retirement savings we have left. Between my illness and this it's going to wipe that out. Glad we have a good retirement. So at least from payday to payday living we are ok. Everyone is going to be like we are at retirement if someone has his way. Maybe I'll get better at driving the Subaru, will find out tomorrow.

Weren't home because went to pick up our grandsons at their daycare and take them home until our DIL got home from work. Dinner was interesting especially with the youngest. He should be fed in a kiddie pool with a hose handy for when he's done. Sheesh! Poor little guy has been sick so I can't get mad at him. Besides, he's got the greatest smile. He can light up a room! And we get to do it again today!

Glad to hear things are moving fast. You're both on my mind all through the day everyday.

Well we went through our first marathon of appointments today. Never left the doggie by herself fo anything close to this amount of time and she did just fine. Now the important stuff.

This Pulmonologist she saw today was very nice and explained the procedure for tomorrow. It is like an endoscopy except he goes down the bronchial tube. Then takes a sample of of each lymph node that is affected, there are 2. One has a pretty large mass on it and it may be connected to the larger mass in her lower right lung. He is pretty worried that it is Cancer. We may know some tomorrow but hopefully the results will be back by the 6th when she sees the Oncologist. She seems to have the best doctors for their specialty.

The Oncologist who she's seen before for her anemia was very well thought of by the Pulmonologist. One doctor today said she may have a few options if it is Cancer and which ever she chooses they will keep her as comfortable as they can. Which didn't sound good by the way it was said.

We really won't know anything for sure till the 6th. The spot on her liver is very small, 7mm and could be something that has been there for a very long time. We don't know if this is going to be operable or what but it is very worrisome. We just don't know but she has a good team so far. We are hopeful but this lung thing is pretty big, he showed us the pics today. God I wish this had never happened.

Boy, I sure wish this had never happened too! But it sounds like Ginny has some great doctors and there are options so don't loose hope. Medical science has come a long way. I think Ginny is lucky to have you.

Wow Pat...my heart goes out to you and Ginny. I know from all your posts that you are one of the strongest persons I've ever known so I'm going to believe that the inner strength that you have will spill over and cover your wife too! Know that there are SO many folks pulling for the both of you:wub:

Pat, I have no words for what you're going through. All I can say is, when you start to panic,

Breathe in slowly, breathe out slowly, repeat as needed. For just a minute or two, just breathe.

You and Ginny are in my thoughts.

Well he got some Cell’s from the lymph node and it is definitely Cancer. Now she has to have pet scan to see stage and treatment options and see if it is anywhere else besides lung and node. I guess lung cancer is one of the fastest spreading of the cancers. So this is more bad news. Oh and he won’t know the type time results come back.

Waited to reply until you had info from visit today. Prayers are still going up for you both. You need to try to stay positive for Ginny's sake, Legs. They say people who keep positive h make up their minds to have an aggressively positive attitude toward it do better mentally h physically through treatment. Try!
