For those that want to see what our new house looks like here it is.
The little Mazda II is the wife's car and the VW beastie is mine. Looked at Fords and GMH stuff but since Ford and GMH shut down their plants in Australia and put heaps of people out of work, including my son, I said to heck with them and went for the fully imported Amarok VW.

I've heard good things about those trucks! Good for you!

Well we got the worst news possible. She has Stage 4 also 2 spots on her liver a spot by each kidney plus the lung and lymph node. He said without treatment it would take her in months. She has to get an iron infusion on Wed a port put in sometime this week starts real aggressive chemo Tues next week 3 days in a row for 3 hours each day then 3 weeks till the next one. My daughter is coming this weekend maybe both of them and get this house really cleaned, then the next weekend both and continue. I don't know what i'm going to do. We are both so sad she is crying everytime she talks to any of her family or anyone for that matter. This is really bad. Now I wish I'd have listened to my dad and saved for the rainy day. It is a monsoon here. If one of you want to let the people know on Willies thread it is fine. I don't feel like doing it.
An aggressive start is good, Legs. We went through this small cell thing with my Dad. Hang in there!

Well first I want to thank all of you for the prayers and hopes.

Second is an update, I talked to Dr. Chaudry who is Ginny's Oncologist. I asked him point blank what do you think about her decision and would you do it if it was you. He said it was the right decision and yes he would absolutely do what she is doing. He said without it she would be taken from us within 3-4 months. But if the Chemo works like he is planning, she could have a year and possibly 2. So to me it is better then 3 months. It's not a cure but at least she won't be gone so soon. I just hope that the Chemo is not too hard on her. He is really hitting it hard with a treatment every day for 3 days. So I've heard after the first day the next day you feel bad but she will be having another infusion of the poison. And the next then 3 weeks off to hopefully recuperate some then do it all again. I've talked to quite a few people who have had Chemo and they don't normally hit is quite so aggressively but that is what he said he would do and he is supposed to be one of the best here.

Also my Gdaughter and husband are putting in for a Humanitarian Transfer. Jacob is doing everything by the book and Dr. Chaudry is going to write a letter saying how much she is needed here. The closest he could get is joint base Lewis McChord because of his job. They are going to try their hardest because our PCP said that she doesn't believe I would be able to take care of her if she got really ill, which is inevitable I'm afraid. We are supposed to hear from some people about Hospice and she thinks I need some kind of help, head wise. She's probably right.

It's good you've got some honest opinions from the Doc ... better to know what's coming along then wondering and guessing. Sure hope the transfer comes through .. Katie and Brian went through all that paperwork because of Hux's medical condition to get Brian stationed someplace close to a good medical facility. They had to stay on top of it, to get it through the system ... but it finally worked out for them.

Sounds like a great Dr, Legs. That should do a lot to ease your fears. Really hope the kids get the transfer & get it quickly. More prayers going up.

Well the plans so far are daughter is coming this weekend to clean. Ginny wants to go to Great Clips and get her 2' of hair chopped off and donate it to Locks of Love. She's got a couple other things but we are going to try to get rested up. I signed up for Palliative Care but now might tell them to hold off till we see how it goes. I was freaking out because I was starting to think I wasn't going to be able to do this because my stumps have been killing me barely able to walk. They still hurt some but better. I've lost more weight which is probably the cause. I spoke to my SIL who has had Chemo not 3 days straight but she reassured me that I could do this just treat her like a baby. Feed her when she's hungry what she wants, make sure she drinks plenty of water, if she feels sick get an anti nausea pill in her, pain meds when desired help her move around. Johnny gave me some good ideas so I called the FD and they have lift assist for free if she gets dizzy an falls and I can't get her up they will come right over about 4 min away and get her into whatever she wanted to be, my grand daughter ordered 3 Amazon Dots so I will set up as an intercom system and what ever she want to use it for when she is in the bedroom and I am down here. Now I just have to get another friend over and help move furniture and set up the hospital bed in the living room. Talked to the neighbor and he is going to take care of mowing the front and back. So things are moving along. Tuesday we have a long talk with doc and nurses and first Chemo starts. 3 days of that then 19 days off then again thru Sept so far.

What a wonderful neighbor you have.

Also got instructions on not having visitors after the chemo starts and if you feel good enough to go somewhere where a face mask.
I don't know if you mentioned it but do you own a cat? If you do, she shouldn't clean out the litterbox or be in the same room when it is emptied. There is something in the litter that can cause her problems. Nancy was happy when the Doctor told us that she shouldn't mess with it. LOL

No Cats but we have a little dog. It is kind of worriesome she is getting 3 days in a row. It's going to wipe out her immune system. What type did your wife have. If it's small cell you might know a lot of things we need to know. I guess small cell is directly linked to smoking and very fast spreading. What is really a shame is she feels pretty good right now, I just hate the idea of seeing her go downhill. And just when she might feel a little better 3 more days of it and it is scheduled into September. I go thru these stages that I get into really bad depression which I am having now.

I forget what the actual name is. She had appendix cancer. It wasn't until about a month and a half after her appendix burst that the cancer was discovered. Needless to say it had spread throughout her body. It was 11 months after the discovery that she passed.

@2legsshrt
I don't think we have spoken before, i am usually elsewhere on the forum.
I wanted to offer you my best wishes for Ginny.
I know exactly what you are fighting, as my SO had small cell, and was Stage4 when diagnosed.
Is she getting the Neulasta shots along with Chemo? That really seemed to help strengthen immune system. Sometimes insurance won't pay as the cost is rather high. You seem to have a medical team who are on top of things. My K. had bone involvement, as well as organ involvement, but we got another 8 months.
Just spend as much time as you can talking to each other about good things. If she goes into remission, it will be a happy memory. If not, you will have said all the things you needed to say without regrets.
This is a serious thing but by no means hopeless! Wish I had something to say to help.
Wishing you the Very Best...

Excellent advice. We should be doing this with all the people in our lives who matter most to us because there's no telling when they might be taken from us.

One of the…very few…things that sustained me after my son died so unexpectedly was that we had always talked about good things…as you put it. There were no "if onlys" and "I wish I" after he died.

And welcome to this great thread. Hope to see you again :)

It sounds like you're getting your ducks in a row. You wondered how you were going to be able to handle this and you're starting to see that you're not alone. Sometimes help comes from surprising places. While you're making all these arrangements don't forget to take care of yourself. Not just for you, but for Ginny.

BTW...went to an optometrist a couple of days ago...now i have the beginnings of cataracts and and glaucoma....

boy oh boy...when my body decided to go on strike it went full speed ahead!:D

But it's all right...I've been blind as a bat since i was a teenager...

I don't have glaucoma, but I did have cataracts removed and I gotta say it was like a miracle to be able to see like I did when I was young. So, if you're body is giving you a problem, this is a good one to have!

Well I thought I'd post a picture of Ginny and her Support dog. She just went into Great Clips and got her free Cancer haircut and they do it so she can donate it to Lock of Love.

That big badage is where she had her Port put in. Her hair was over 2' long. Handn't been cut since right after we got married 30 some years ago.
