Yeah that is what she uses for her needlepoint. She is having real problems reading stuff on the tv though which is a 60" about 12' from her. Seems like her vision gets worse with each treatment. That's why I've been doing all the driving. That irks her to no end, worst backseat driver ever.

I had to drive my mom to Dana Farber in Boston for her chemo and checkups. I knew the roads and the traffic patterns. After I played chicken with a taxi driver (the creep was trying an intimidation move to cut me off so I turned a little towards him and he backed off) she decided it was better if she kept her eyes closed until we got there.

Her cataracts got worse because of the steroids they were giving her which didn't help her vision.

Maybe that's it then cause they give her a bag of Steroids on the first day of each cycle but they did say the Chemo itself will also cause vision problems.

Well I have a special treat for you this is Tyler the nurses dog. I just call him The Streak. He has one speed fast, he flies around the Chemo Room on his stool with his cart full of stuff. He said this dog is really something. He said this guy is so smart it just amazes them all the time. @clnire

He also said him and his wife were trying to decide if they wanted kids or dogs and they got this pup and decided nope dogs. He sure is a beautiful dog.

What a cutie. It's easy to see how he could be "the baby" in the house!

Really? Didn't know that either. It's bad enough for adults…hubs gets them occasionally.

What do they give Miles for them?

Didn't give him anything. Just Ibuprofen and anti-nausea meds. The doc said he seemed to have gotten stuck in a cycle and watch him to see if it breaks. Today he was happy to go back to daycare and he had a very good day. Even ate a good lunch and dinner! Yay! His daddy gets migraines from time to time and I get them so I guess it runs in the family. It just doesn't seem right for a little kid to get bad headaches. We'll just have to watch him and see how it goes. I think they'd rather not give him any meds if they can help it and we agree, but we also don't want to see him suffer.

It really doesn't. Poor little guy. Jash hit a new milestone today, they got him to stay asleep for his nap at daycare. He's been falling asleep in a swing but they have to move him to a crib when he does. He wakes up and he is the darnedest little fighter of sleep I've ever seen. Once awake he fights sleep like crazy. You can tell he's almost in a trance but won't go to sleep. He also has another weird thing, he hates riding in the car in his car seat. Screams his head off unless someone is sitting in the back with him. Ginny sat back there with him on the way to the airport and would put his binkie back in his mouth, he spits it out when by himself. Guess she's going to have to tape it in. LOL

You know we were talking today. We actually had a 75 for a high today. Back up to 97 by Wednesday. We'd like to just go to the type of yard they have in Arizona and Texas. We are on a community water system that I believe has 4 wells. It's been able to keep up but if we keep having years like this who knows. They have been building more and more homes here spreading the area out cause everyone has to have at least one acre. Eventually these wells aren't going to be able to keep up in the summer. We just let ours go because we don't want to pay $150 water bills but many don't seem to be phased by that. I don't remember the last time we had rain. I like the idea of gravel yards with plants that will stand up to the Summers and Winters and change the sprinkler system to just water those. The water is getting to smell like chlorine a lot more each year. Our water is so hard you have to have a water softener, full of the stuff that plugs up things with that white crust, tastes terrible. We use Culligan for our drinking water and salt for the softener. It's a little more expensive but neither one of us can carry the salt downstairs or go and get the bottles filled with 5 gallons of water, can't lift them. He brings it in puts the salt in the machine so it's worth the extra. Probably would get bottles at Costco but they keep putting more and more bottles in the package making them almost to hard to carry also. So this works. I think the gravel would look a lot better then brown grass and no more mowing. We aren't getting the snow pack we used to eventually something will have to give.

Take heart! Miles was horrible to get to sleep and now he's a good sleeper. It seems that whatever problems a baby gives you eventually ends - and something else takes it's place!

At a lake while the sun was shining?

You mean The Phillies.

This question I am asking for a friend. If someone has a drivers licence that expired on his birthday 2 days ago, and he studiously gathered up all the required documentation to get the new "smart" license which will meet new requirements for official Federal ID, and then he goes to DMV, and they tell him he can't renew yet because the current license says it expires on Aug 1 2019, do you think my friend will be able to pass the vision test when he goes to renew his NC license a year from now?

On a completely different subject, thanks for all the birthday well wishes, y'all!
I googled that smart drivers license…called "enhanced" on the dmv site and it says in part (my bolds):
"Allows you to re-enter the U.S. from Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
Also like a passport card, an EDL is accepted only at land and sea border crossings—not for air travel. It also contains radio-frequency microchipping that uniquely identifies you in Customs and Border Protection (CBP) databases, which should promote a more expeditious cross."

Hubs and I have traveled to both Mexico and Canada in years past and all we had to do at the border is show our regular license…simple and quick. Maybe these days there is more to it…unless you have this smart license? It wouldn't surprise me in today's world.

Good morning all

Legs I've been wanting to xeriscape for a very long time, but simply haven't done it in the front lawn.
I did have it in the back and it was beautiful, but was eventually covered over with grass so now we just have it mowed by our lawn guy. We have definitely cut out a lot of the work we used to do. I miss it, but we do what we can!

Xeriscaping in a humid climate misses the point. It is meant to cut down on the work. Definition of XERISCAPE

That sounds different from the "NC Real ID" that I can get, which is designed to meet stricter identification requirements that start in 2020 for domestic flights and entering Federal facilities. New "regular" NC licenses now say "not for Federal identification" across the top.

I'm not at all familiar with the rules for vehicular crossings to Mexico and Canada. I know that in 2000, I flew to Canada without a passport, but in 2010 and 2015 I needed a passport. 9/11 changed things.

If the vision issues started when she started chemo, then just wait until the effects wear off. Her vision will continue to change until then.

Yes, it is meant to cut down on the work!
Point is, we didn't see it through!
Salt mixed with water and sprayed on the unwanted growth does a marvelous job. Add a little dishwashing soap for adhesion. Once or twice a year will do it.

Poor little guy! It's so hard when our little ones hurt. They don't understand & finding a way to help & comfort them isn't easy when we can't make it stop instantly. Prayers for Miles.

Lol! He's broken himself of the binky! He knows there's nothing in it. My daughter spit hers out at 3 months & was done with it. Couldn't get it past those clamped lips!

That white crust is lime. Our water here is horrible. People use walter filters for everything. Pool filters clog up & turn orange. There's a lot of iron in the water & it stinks. We use PUR water filters for cooking & drinking water. The City & County say there water is safe to drink but yuk!

Thanks. He did have a good day yesterday so we're hoping this cycle has broken. Wish we knew what triggered it!

Do those pitchers that filter water for you? I think Zero Water is supposed to take everything out. Our fridge has filtered water in the door so I rarely drink from the tap. I guess people do get used to "city" water, but I hate the smell and taste. Maybe that's why people put lemon in their water.

I put one of these in and under the kitchen sink some years back, the three filter model.

Under Counter Water Filters, under sink filter

After having used the PUR throw-aways for quite a while. (While we don't have any iron, you can pick filters for that as well.) The filters last us several years, vs the month or so on the PUR. The provided tap runs water as fast as a 1/4" pipe will deliver it, not a slow drip.
