I sure hope you meant that figuratively. Also, that is a wonderful poem you posted.

I hope you can find help as easily as I was able to find Alexa, with Iffy's help. She tells me jokes, the weather, and changes the channel for me. Since I'm new to Dish, I don't have many channel numbers committed to memory, but as long as I know the channel name, Alexa knows the number. I can do this with my voice remote, but it's easier to do it with Alexa. Soon, I will find out how adept she is at handling an Amazon purchase.
Alexa can do so many things it boggles the mind. Plus they seem to come up with new skills every day. I still haven’t used 1 of them because Gin spends most of her time on the hospital bed in the living room. I knew it was going to be a good idea. I remember how it was for me during the time I was in bed a lot. We really haven’t even used the bedroom one much. Use her mostly for timers and get my morning news briefing. Maybe the weather play Jeopardy occasionally or one of the many things that she does. A skill called Any Do works great for making lists for different stores and checking the items off at the store. Just tell Alexa what you want and she makes the list on your phone. We have about 5 stores we shop at for different items works great.

Nic wins again! We've all heard of some study that Alzheimer's disease may be slowed down with nicotine but I just found out it can be a big help for Ulcerative Colitis (UC) a form of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).

I think our member "Myk" has been aware of this for years.

Soon, I will find out how adept she is at handling an Amazon purchase.

I suspect she might not have enough Scottish blood to pick the most economical listing, but I won't know that until I put her to the test.

Just tell/ask her fer specials and to list products low price to high. Did ya get a Dot fer your sibling?

Also, for Prime members, sign up fer da daily Prime Special email notifications.

I've al$o found $um awe$ome Amazon $ecret code$ HERE (daily)!

Within a few days all her symptoms disappeared. With the exception of a few minor flare-ups, she has been able to manage her disease with the patch for years!!!

Our eldest daughter is just starting her journey down da UC pathway. Will know more when she meets with the USF medical team. Thankfully, she spent ten days at the Vanderbilt Univ Medical Center which hooked her up with USF. The local 'doctors' here were a total loss, if not a medical hindrance!

I don't know which sib needs or wants a Dot. I'll check and see, and I'll check that secret code link... after I get the groceries into the house... I asked Alexa to bring them in but all of a sudden she claims not to understand me.

Good luck to your daughter. It's a tough disease to live with. Is she trying the patch?

And thanks for that link. I learned something new about expiration dates here:

Movie Review: Heartbreakers, 2001. Jennifer Hewitt, Sigourney Weaver, Ray Liotta, Gene Hackman. Comedy. Poorly rated by others, but I didn't think a movie with such talent could be bad, and it wasn't. That said, it didn't really start getting interesting until Liotta appeared. He did a great job with his part.

Nic wins again! We've all heard of some study that Alzheimer's disease may be slowed down with nicotine but I just found out it can be a big help for Ulcerative Colitis (UC) a form of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Apparently, the unmentionable substance which can work miracles for Crohn's (the other IBD) doesn't work for UC.

A friend to whom I haven't spoken in a few years was just telling me that she was diagnosed with a pretty severe case of IBD. The first thing her gastroenterologist asked her was if she had been a smoker. Turns out she had quit a few months before and that was when the trouble began. The doctor told her that that there is strong evidence that nicotine controls UC symptoms for many people. He tried her on several different medications and none worked. So then, because she didn't want to go back to smoking, she started wearing a stage 1 nic patch 26 mg nic). Within a few days all her symptoms disappeared. With the exception of a few minor flare-ups, she has been able to manage her disease with the patch for years!!!

Nic also works wonders with Parkinson's disease. My good friend and neighbor was diagnosed last year, and the PA asked her if she was a smoker and if she was, don't quit, but don't let the doctor know I told you!!!
N told her that she had quit smoking, but now vapes! When N starts to stutter and her body starts to tremor, and she begins to stoop over, she takes a few hits from her vape along with red wine and it is incredible to see the change within a few minutes.

Evidently the resveratrol in the wine along with the nic stops her tremoring almost immediately.....I've seen it many times for myself.
.
So, along with her meds, a combo of red wine and nic have been an absolute blessing for my dear friend!!

I've been subscribed to both SlickDeals and Rakuten for years and put all the emails in the trash. Bargain shopping , ending in impulse buys for things that aren't a need, is NOT for a person on a fixed income with limited funds....;)

Who was it in here who uses portable oxy generators? Sorry I don't remember. I am considering purchasing one, the one I have kept coming back to is the Inogen 1 G3. Probably the most expensive but also rated as the best by several reviewers. I read something about the portable ones have a shorter lifespan but the package I'm looking at has a lifetime warranty on the concentrator and replacable columns which seems to be the thing they have talked about wearing out. Man stuff is expensive for those, a double battery is $500 a spare charger is $300 the columns are $100 for the pair. Seems to me if that is the parts that wear out and you have a lifetime on the device itself would last for a while. The columns apparently have about and 18 month lifetime not sure about the batteries.

Have you asked the docs or nurses about it? You'd think they'd have had experience with all of them and might be able to give you some advice.

No discussion of oxygen generators in this topic (back porch) for the past four years. Plenty of discussion about power generators, and even a bit about vehicle generators. It must have been in a different topic, or even a different forum. You can restrict searches to a single topic and for a limited time. I did not search Back Porch topic in the previous segments (part 6 or earlier).

I do. What's your question?

I have a Inogen G3. It weighs about 7 pounds with a double battery on it. I use it mostly on long trips and/or overnight trips. When I'm out and about I put it in the seat of my walker or around the back of the scooter seat. It is much too heavy for the patient to carry around as is shown in the advertisement. I also have a second single battery and the car charger. The cartridges are the air filters. Expensive but worth it. The g3 only goes up to 4 liters per minute and if it is run in continuous mode does not last very long. If oxygen is administered in "puff" mode and run at a lower than prescription mode it will last longer. My prescription is for 3lpm so if I'm traveling in the car I turn it down to 2lpm. Some patients will need increasingly more oxygen as time goes on. Choose the model carefully as the G3 does not go as high as 5lpm. The company responds to questions and equipment replacement very quickly.

IF either of you still smokes just stop. Cigarettes just make a bad situation worse.

My Kindle was sent back to Amazon because it was damaged, I think. They finally refunded my money today.

Question is: Should I just buy another of the same thing? Or, since I have a few days to think about it (since it's no longer on sale), should I choose something else?

Any suggestions? Should I just rebuy a Fire HD 8 Tablet with Alexa, 8" HD Display, 32 GB, Black - with Special Offers?

IMO I think you should base your choice on your needs. If you're set for a tablet/ipad I would suggest a plain Kindle…very inexpensive as you know. If your Tablet is getting old and you think it shoyld be replaced then maybe a better choice would be a tablet, Android or ipad to which you would download the Kindle app.

I completely agree with Bea. I love my Kindle, I find it's easier on the eyes when I really want to sit down and read. However, I also read books on my laptop and phone with the app. If a tablet is more of what you need, go that route, you can always get a Kindle later :)
