Yiddle glad to see you here. We were wondering where you are over at Lizards.Anybody have any experience with any of the life alert/medical alert systems? Pros? Cons?
In Texas, you can only renew online so often before they make you come in person.Tried that too but the one she liked looked just like the old one. Now I have to see why they won't renew her DL online. Tried last night and she has some kind of restriction which I don't know what it is. She didn't want to get her pic taken when she is bald plus gimping around with the ankle so today I can call and see what the problem is. She hasn't had a ticket in close to 50 years.
I have no experience with the medical alert systems, but here's an informative article on them. I am surprised at the costs, especially if you opt for GPS. "Fall alert" costs extra as well. I thought it would be much less expensive to get a medical alert system.Anybody have any experience with any of the life alert/medical alert systems? Pros? Cons?

How to Choose a Medical Alert System
Anybody have any experience with any of the life alert/medical alert systems? Pros? Cons?
Thank you for the input...I had an alert system for about 3 months after being released from physical therapy rehab where I was a resident for 3 months. It was a source of comfort for the person who was taking care of me because staying just on the edge of sleep instead of sleeping soundly was the norm. I did some sleep walking and some active hallucinations and the alarm system noticed and alarmed at those times. Later in my recovery it was a comfort to me since In was at home alone for a few hours each day. The providers of the service always answered promptly and responded to any problem very quickly.
On the other side of the coin the microphone in the house that picks up the sounds necessary to set the alarm off is VERY, VERY sensitive!!!!! Close to the end of the alerts usefulness if I had to get out of bed during the night it would sound off and let me tell you it is L-O-U-D**.
It was a good experience and very worth the money.
Thank you for the input...I live alone....am alone 24/7 with the exception of twice a month grocery shopping trips via a volunteer shepherding group. Daughter has become very concerned, that with my age and health, I could find myself in a position of needing assistance and unable to obtain it. So....she asked me to find out what I could about life alert systems....
... law pertaining to security, authentication, and issuance procedures standards for state driver's licenses and identity documents, as well as various immigration issues pertaining to terrorism.
My MIL has one, we'll be there Sunday so if you haven't made your mind up by then I'll ask her. She's had to use it a few times and they are right there, I know that. Plus she lives in a spot with really bad cell service and never had a problem with it.Anybody have any experience with any of the life alert/medical alert systems? Pros? Cons?

MIL has used the actual Life Alert one for years, and has pressed the button a bunch of times. Her setup is the box connected to the phone line, which has a panic button, a necklace/pendant for around the house, and a wireless pendant for out and about. (We've never use that, since if she's out and about, one of us is with her, no need to call them to call us) The pendants, of course, are panic buttons. IIRC, the home one is waterproof, ok to keep on in the shower, where it may be needed!
They have always been fast to generate help and to then call us. (Of course, speed of response of the help will vary based on your location and services.)
If a situation has been initiated, they talk to you over the box, and don't get off the line until the help - i.e. EMTs - are there and up to speed. Presuming you keep them up to date, they can also provide the EMTs current meds and conditions, if you don't have them handy.
We've been very pleased with them, but have no other outfits to compare with.
