A brief good news / bad news post ... hold on to your hats

Good News:

Janet and I are the proud grandparents of our 4th newborn grandboy. It was along haul. Kate and Brian left for the hospital at 1am this morning. The little tyke just took his good ol' time and came into the world around 3:45pm today. Everyone is doing fine. We don't have any details yet (weight, height, etc.) just some pictures of a cute little dude who just joined the family. We'll be heading to the hospital after Hux wakes from his nap to meet the new family addition.

The Bad:

While Janet and I were anxiously awaiting the birth of the new kid on the block ... I got a call from Patrick (2legs). At 3am this morning his time, he took a major fall in his bathroom. He broke his left hip and left shoulder. He was calling from the hospital and because he doesn't have his glasses he couldn't get onto ECF and give us the news. He asked me to pass it along. Ginny is on the way with his glasses and some other personal items. He's scheduled for surgery later today/tonight. That's all I know. I asked him to call me again tomorrow with how the op went and how he's doing. Obviously he is really concerned how things will work out at home with the long re-coup ahead of him.
Congratulations!!! It has been so delightful to watch your family grow over the last 4 1/2 years. Thank you so much for sharing with us!

Oh no! Thanks for passing it along, Mike. I think they may have big changes soon.
Prayers going up.

Introducing Braddock Danger Lxxxxx (last name protected). And yes, his middle name is Danger. Our son Michael was going to give Beckett the middle name Danger, but he and Rachel used a family name from Rachel's side instead. Brian 'cleared' it with Michael before giving it Braddock. So if Braddock asks some day where his middle name came from ... Brian can just point to his Uncle Michael.

@Janet H and @MikeE3 so how long until you get a grandgirl? By the way, he is beautiful. At that age, a gendered adjective doesn't matter.

No grand girls for us. Each of our kids had 2 boys and they're done now. It would have been nice, but no big deal. We're opting for healthy! It does make it easier as far as clothes and equipment. As each baby grows the clothes/toys/equipment keeps getting passed around so that's a big help.

Thank you for the congrats. Our new grandson is 7 lbs 12 oz and 20 inches long. He's got dark hair which is interesting since Kate and Brian are both dirty blond. He was born with the cord wrapped twice around his neck so he was quite purple which kind of freaked Kate out, but the doc seemed calm and unconcerned and just took care of it. His apgar score was 7 & 9 which is good. He and his mother are doing just fine and we couldn't be happier.

Even Hux seemed ok with it and said it would be ok to bring him home. That was a relief because all this time whenever anyone asked if he wanted a baby brother or sister he always said NO! Uh Oh. So, they bought him is own baby doll and he brought it home and laid it down beside his pillow and went right to sleep! Whew! Looks like it's going to be ok after all.

Now, if they can only settle on a name for the little guy.
lol. My mother told me that when my baby brother was born I didn't want him either and asked her if we could send him back.

Well I think I finally got in here. I’m in bad shape I only hope I can come back from this. I was actually hoping I would go into surgery and not wake up. But no such luck. I just don’t know if I can do this again. The pain is in unreal. Physical and mental why did this happen now.

If I were in your situation, I would have called for help from a chaplain. But that is me. Still praying. View attachment 789437
That’s probably what I should do. There was a chaplain in yesterday and I talked to her for a while. I just don’t know how we are going to get through this. They are going to move me to a rehab facility probably tomorrow. I can’t do anything for myself. They put a rod in my upper left arm between shoulder and elbow another one between my left hip and knee a bunch of other hardware also. I don’t know how long it will take to get some ability back.

They are having a really hard time keeping my blood levels up. I had to have 2 units of blood Sunday now it’s low again so giving me iron infusion. I really haven’t eaten anything for 3 days could be a problem just don’t feel like it. I don’t like having to crap in a bedpan. Plus it hurts so bad to get on and off one makes it worse.

Darn it, Pat, you obviously didn't get the memo about not falling!

Sucks. But (hopefully) the rehab folk can get you back into shape fairly quickly, and other folk there should be able to help line up all the assistance you and Ginny need at home. DO take advantage of the time and help that's available while you're there, to get things properly set up.

The nurse I’ve had for the last 12 hours I haven’t been able to understand 1 word. I find myself saying ok and yes a lot hope that was right.

    Pat, no.
You might be saying ok and yes to things that involve your treatment and end up with meds/actions that you do not need and that could affect you negatively.

If you can't understand that nurse SAY so - over and over again...even if they have to get you another nurse you must be able to understand what is going on.
