Failed experiment: a while back, I shared a recipe for automatic dishwasher powder that I found on the www.
After using it for about 20 loads, my opinion is: Nah. I don't care that it's 1/3 the cost of Cascade pods, it just doesn't do the job nearly as well. Now I need to find other uses for the washing soda, Borax and Kosher salt. (I already had the citric acid powder, which is still the absolutely best cleaner for coffeemakers.)
Today was kinda nostalgic for me. 2 years ago today my beloved Spock, multi breed and performance titled Maplerun's Trouble with Tribbles, traveled over the Rainbow Bridge peacefully, at home, naturally, with me at his side at the ripe age of 14 yrs, 7 months. Tasha and Geordi make it much easier, but I still miss my Spockey Doodle.![]()

Woohoo! Woke up to a winter wonderland! I took some pics but of course, this time I couldn't upload themand i've done it many times with this cell phone!
Oh well....it's coming down hard and there must be at least 5 inches already. And no, I'm not gonna go out there and measure!![]()
You must've seen the Seahawks today huh @Kenna ?
If I were you I wouldn't even bother trying the dishwasher mix/concoction... it does not do a great job. Regarding the coffeemaker cleaner, yes, I can verify that there's nothing else that comes remotely close to citric acid.I'd just purchased a huge box of Finish pods and still have a jug of some organic stuff so haven't tried your mix in the dishwasher, but I did use just the citric acid in the coffee maker and it worked great.
Yes, sound asleep. All you folks must be in bed now?
I want to see that one.Wow just watched a really good flic. Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children. A must see.

Exactly my thoughts!I don't agree with 25. They can vote, & enlist, and many other things at 18. Either they are old enough to make decisions at that age or they aren't.

Oh yes! The borax does indeed work as well as diatomaceous earth!Mix the borax with a small amount of powdered sugar. They take it back to their mound and pretty soon - no more ants... We use it here and in the Philippines, but be careful using it around where you may have pets or small children...
Nah, no need to measure; just enjoy the scenery! Hope you have enough food in the house!Woohoo! Woke up to a winter wonderland! I took some pics but of course, this time I couldn't upload themand i've done it many times with this cell phone!

I, too can verify the good results from your recommendation of the citric acid for cleaning the coffee pots, speaking of which, mine is due!If I were you I wouldn't even bother trying the dishwasher mix/concoction... it does not do a great job. Chronological age is no assurance that a person will make responsible decisions....![]()
