Well, some not so great news for us this week. My wife Julie has found it impossible to get past a job interview for over 2 years now and loved ones have noticed her slipping mentally for some time now. She has been in total denial, of course, and only with carefully worded prodding were we able to get her to agree to an evaluation.
After a 4 month wait for her appointment she underwent a 5hr. mental eval at UAMS in Little Rock and has been diagnosed with MCI (mild cognitive impairment). I'm not so sure I would call it mild, she can't even count change or perform simple arithmetic. She is also unable to answer questions during interviews related to SAS, a software program she has been using for over 25 years. Forgetting things we discussed in the morning by lunch time is now the new norm.
She is, and has always been a worrier and apparently MCI can be brought on by stress, so they prescribed Zoloft, which she determined she had no use for after 2 weeks of feeling groggy.
We don't know what to do at this point other than pray that God's will be done so if you prayer warriors out there would send some our way we would be grateful.

Will do. I cannot function without my Effexor. Have been on it for years.

Steve has gall stone surgery Wednesday.

    Affordable healthcare...yea...the co-pay is $1800.00 !
I am so thankful that my folks have it to borrow it !
Prayers to guide the surgeons hands, and a speedy recovery. Ouch, am also glad they have it, but hate that you have to pay that much

So sorry to hear that! Hope they can find a medication that will help and that she will take. I know that is progressive, but God can stop it dead in it's tracks and restore what has been lost! Hugs and prayers!!

Perhaps try different medications. One size does not fit all.

Thanks 3mg Meniere. Venlafaxine, lots of side effects. How do you get along with it?
Peachy. I have been on many, have a neurological condition (plus life traumas) for which an antidepressant is essential. Hated the constipation from most of the tricyclics. Paxil, however, was an awful experience. About the only side effect I experience is what feels like electricity in my eye muscles-- last time I experienced that was when I didn't take it the night before.

I'm glad that's working so well for you. I hope we find something that works for Julie as well.
I'm normally a very stoic person when it comes to life's bumps in the road but when I see this effecting her emotionally it hurts me deeply. She so wants to be a contributor to the household income, as she has been for 30yrs., but being unable to has brought my funny, happy, sharp witted life partner and soul mate to a very dark place.:(
She'll come out of it, she just has to.:)

Sending hugs & positive thoughts. The BP is an incredible group of warriors and survivors and support. Many have bumped into that dark place and know it all too well. For me, it helps to know I'm not alone in the struggle and I hope it helps you in some way too.

So sorry Cig and of course, prayers yours and Julie's way. I take Cymbalta, for over a year now. Before that it was back and forth with Prozac and many in between. Zoloft, Effexor, Wellbutrin and Celexa. Prozac worked best so I kept going back to it but after a time it stopped working. My problem is lifelong inherited depression (real mom killed herself) and now fibromyalgia. some of the anti-depressants help with the fibro. They all have side effects it seems. You just have to settle for which side effects you can tolerate and then get used to it.
I am hearing great things about Magnesium and cognitive help.

Baby born. Caul and amniotic fluid were interesting. I didn't notice that on the previous one. Daddy is looking on interestedly. Enjoyed the moment when gravity took over. They ought to allow gravid humans to get some help from gravity more often.

I watched one being born, and it really bothered me that the poor things get dumped on their head at birth. What a way to enter the world.
