@bigbells The chip(s) are only as good as the mods they're installed in. A bit of solder work, a fat daddy vapes 510, and a good case, battery sled, and some beefy electrical wire should fix your dna device.

I did have the pleasure of rebuilding a dna based mod once for a friend (DNA30 I believe) as the company used some craptastic thin electrical wire to do the work, so I went to the boards, looked at specifications, found the MIN and MAX wire diameter to use to get a solid connection to / from the sled, buttons, and 510, desoldered, resoldered with new wire, new sled, etc, and the problems he was having, vanished.

I hate to say it but my heart is breaking. I have a little pup that is a 6-year old mix-breed Shih Tzu/Poodle female. Over the weekend I noticed she was having a problem with her sight. I got her to the vet yesterday and he ran a blood test. He ruled out Lime Disease and a couple others that I didn't understand. She didn't have a fever her temp was 102.8°. He gave me a 10 day supply of Prednisone to try to treat a possible infection. Her eyes are bloodshot suggesting an infection. He found no obvious reason for the loss of sight and suggested it might be a form of Macular Degeneration. I am keeping her comfortable. I have the yard sectioned off and now trying to figure out a way to mark the fence so she won't run into it and cause further harm.
I am so sorry Diver. Hopefully when the infection clears she will get her sight back, but if not she can live a good life without it. Don't move furniture and such and she will learn her way.

Thanks you guys. To be honest I'm not sure where I would go, I'm kinda used to coming here everyday. I'd probably have withdrawals, but will look around a little to see if theres any place that I'd fit in.

Well, I think you'd fit in anywhere...but you BELONG here with all us whackos!

@3mg Meniere just saw that video - for real? She is freaking out over a tiny needle? (20-22G) is what I've seen them draw blood with, 22-24G to administer an IV with - unless you're getting a FAST-1 or a neck stick (IV delivered in the neck) then they use 12G and I think the FAST-1 (which goes through the sternum and directly into bone) is about 4-8G. The FAST-1 is for last resort "HOT DIGGITY DOOD! All of your limbs are missing!". I have had the luxury of hitting someone with a FAST-1 before... its painful to do.

The bad news is that I tossed it in the trash 4 or 5 weeks ago. The good news is that it's been 6 or 7 weeks since I emptied that wastebasket. I just now dug to the bottom and found it. :rickroll:

When the infection is cleared up her sight may return. Best thing to do is keep her hair out of her eyes. We had a pup lose her sight gradually lose her sight. We would go outside with her. She leatned how to navigate indoors & out on her own. She wouldn't run, or move quickly anymore but she knew where things were outside & kept to areas she was familiar with on her own.

Thank you, everyone, for the lovely comments about my poor pup. She is 6? years old and has lived in the house and yard for the whole time. She knows her way around the house but has some trouble in the yard with the chainlink fence. I am trying to figure out what I can do to help her keep from walking into the fence. I'm thinking of stakes and a small rope about chest high a few inches in from the fence. I do some crafting with paracord and have plenty of it around the house. The vet did say that there is a possibility her sight will return when the infection is cleared up. If it doesn't I might see about getting a seeing eye dog for her.

@bigbells heck yeah man! I got some games in yesterday with it, just to learn it's power, core, reactions to the slightest motion, twitch, wind, etc. My old Toxic needs a break. I'll use it to pick up spares, as it's core is symmetric whereas this core isn't. I did feel a lot more feedback from the gauntlet as well, meaning wherever i throw it, is likely where it's going to go. Same with twisting my hands, even slightly, it will spin until it gets 3/4 down the lane, then hook off rapidly sending pins flying in every direction. She's a bad gauntlet. Probably the most fun I've hand bowling in awhile.

@DancingHeretik both cotton and rayon will burn. That's why when I see people running their TC temps above 400°F, I just shake my head or when I see folks with 16AWG wire running at 1.21Gigawatts... running it dry... Just... No. If I remember right, cotton starts darkening at 400°F. Rayon, 420°F.

Dry cotton begins browning at 420°f, dry rayon at 460°f.

Most mod makers grounded dna boards through the board mounting screws for chassis ground. Try tightening the board mounting screws and the 510 mounting screws (if it's not a press fit 510). I bet it'll fire right up.

Me too, it's like rayon has a dry taste or something like that. I don't care for it. But different strokes for different folks. Glad the setting works for you Dave. I think I forgot the temp comp had F and not just C. If the temp seems like it is a little high for the setting you can change the TCR to a slightly lower number. With SS316L I usually use between 405 and 420. The number I gave you is from Steam Engine, DJLSB labs shows it at .00105 but I find his TCR's a little high. He shows 316L at .00092 which for my liking on the SX is a little high. That's the reason I use SE for TCR's

See I don't want all that techie stuff in my head. Do all TC mods require fiddling like that.

Not hard at all or I wouldn't have done it. Add a couple of wraps to reach same ohms. The flavor is better imo.

So I use 7 wraps of 29g kanthal - 9 wraps of SS will be close that. But even 9 wraps will be tedious to fit my build decks. 8 wraps with Kanthal was always my upper limit for length if the coil.

Poor little girl.

@MattB101 not hard at all, even in pure power mode, I run cooler (less watts) than I would with kanthal and nichrome. Why? Because 316L stainless steel has an issue staying stable. Add to the issue, it's also easier to melt when pushing tons of watts to it. So, if you want to go to 316L it's easy, just don't expect to throw 100+ watts at it, and you'll be alright. As for the Macintosh issue trying running a virtual machine plugging your device and keep that virtual machine running Windows into the laptop or whatever it is you have and keep that virtual machine running windows and you should be alright

But then I'd have to buy Windows. That ain't cheap. I'd don't want to spend on that just to adjust my mod.

You could try an invisible fence.

It comes with a collar that let's the dog know when it is getting near its boundary. I do not know about the intensity that they provide, but I am sure there are different level settings. My neighbor had one years back and I remember that he told me he had to have it on high in the beginning and then was able to lower it as time went on and eventually was able to take it off.

Outside of vape mail I did get my new bowling ball...

Sometimes I miss bowling. Had to give it up about the same time my average got high enough to be proud of it... My wife and I go and watch it once in a while on a bored Friday night a few times a year...

Are you speaking of me. I have no problems. Well maybe a couple. I seem to see the world in a different light then others and don't think anything of saying here what I would say to others. Maybe its me that needs to leave this thread. I could make life better for y'alll.
Sit yourself down, & mind your manners, Bub.
