My list gets too long and complicated. I get up and get a few things done just to get my list manageable.

My problem is with wifi. My wifi has been so bad that I don't even know if I'm having trouble with Netflix.

I got a smart tv recently. I didn't even think about whether or not it had an ethernet port. So I can no longer hook up my Netflix to the wifi over powerline.

If your smart TV connected to tour home network Netflix is already available.? That's how mine works.

Netflix, Hulu, and lots of other stuff available. But, we need to get faster internet so that wifi can get to the back of the apartment.

Either that or find some way to hook up my internet over powerline. Maybe some kind of adapter?

Luckily the new tv does have a USB port so I can watch movies off my hard drive.

each nurse has 3 to 4 patients. She said the food is terrible really bland. I thought they might try to get her out of bed today and help her walk a little but guess that's not their jobs.
Pat I'm glad Ginny is getting better.. that being said…
3-4 patients per nurse is excellent. The standard in most hospital general floors is 6 per nurse with help from techs, except in ICU where it varies 1 to 1 or 2 to 1, and special care areas, such as where Ginny is, with 3-4 patients to 1 nurse.

Food being bland. She may be on a low-salt, low-fat diet. Ask her nurse if that's it. If so they can probably offer her a no-salt seasoning pack which will help liven up the flavor.

As far as helping her walk…have you asked her nurse about it? Ask. She may not be allowed to take walks yet. Don't just assume that "it's not their job". The nurses job is to follow the doctors' orders. If the doctor says she should walk then, and only then, either nurses, techs or PT will do it.

You really need to try and communicate with the nurses whose job is to help Ginny get better. Making assumptions is not productive. After you discuss your concerns with the nurses…or doctors…you can inform Ginny and make her feel better about her care.

Is anyone else having problems with Netflix?
Netflix doing good here, Legs.

Either that or find some way to hook up my internet over powerline. Maybe some kind of adapter?
This is not something I know about personally, but your question sent me Googling. Starting at about 4:45, the guy explains how to use a powerline wi-fi adapter.

That's it! A List! I'm going to start a list tomorrow.
I know you're beeing funny but because I'm one of those annoyingly super organized people and when there's much to be done making a list really helps me stay sane. A lot of satisfaction in crossing items off of it. :)

I've had a thing called a repeater, same thing I guess, for a few years and get full signal at the back of the house. It's great! Works best using ethernet of course.

Food is my main objection to hospitals & rehabs. It's all low to no salt, low to no seasoning. Since she's still recovering from an intestenal infection she'll just have to be patient & give her body a chance to heal. With such a low immune system it takes awhile. I hated it. I was so glad to get home! Even tho I had to be very careful for 8 months (it was a 2 surgery process), at least I could eat my own cooking, just with a little less seasoning & being careful with the menu.
Take her some hand sanitizer, Legs. Hospitals & any medical facility here has dispensers hung in every room & bathroom, & in the hallways. There is usually a small bottle included in the little toiletry package you get when you get to your hospital room. She just needs to ask for it. Or you can call & ask for her. She may still be a little dopey & not thinking of it.
Ginny is pretty upset with the way she is being treated at the hospital. She is in the Advanced Care Unit each nurse has 3 to 4 patients. They come to help her to the bathroom and when they get her off they don't even offer any hand sanitizer or anything. She said the food is terrible really bland. She wants to come home but can't yet because she has to be able to walk a little. I hope Manor Care is a better experience for her. She's getting better cause she is getting ticked off at the treatment for what they charge. She can't believe they offer no santizer when everyone who enters the room has to wear a gown and mask. She is upset to say the least. One thing about Manor Care I can get food for her and bring it easily so even if their food isn't great I can get her what she wants. She is ready to get out of there. Just hoping she likes this better. I thought they might try to get her out of bed today and help her walk a little but guess that's not their jobs. Tomorrow is probably the day for moving, I doubt they'll let me take her from hospital to rehab. Have to use one of those Para Taxi outfits. So definitely feeling better cause she is getting ticked off. She said since they know she leaves probably tomorrow they aren't giving her the same treatment as they were before.

I've been pet sitting since the 12th. I had a list of things to do & take with me as usual. I got up feeling puny that morning & got worse as the morning went on. So the list was forgotton in the effort to just get out the door & get here & get settled so I could nap in a pile of puppers. I really didn't start to feel much better for 4 days. I think it was a low grade diverticulitis flare up. Puppers were very comforting!. I go home Sunday.

How cute. Boy, she's got her hands full.

I bookmarked the page this time. I have to go to town again today went to the pharmacy and dropped off some Rx and completely forgot to pick up my antibiotics. Ginny said she is going to try to walk some today with help of course. The more her labs get better the better she feels but like you said Kenna it's going to be slow. I want to make sure the doctor doesn't send her to the nursing home to quickly, he said tomorrow or the next day. She said she wanted to go home and he said only when you can take care of yourself which isn't yet. I know I wouldn't be able to take care of her right now she needs to get some strength back. Even with me helping her she wouldn't make it from the car to the house.

At this point getting her to the nursing home sooner is better than later. It will be more relaxed and you'll have more free rein to make things easier for her and you. And something to think about as far as home is concerned, if you have to help her walk, what are you going to do if she falls? And you could get injured yourself.

The specter of "nursing home" looms large for elderly people. I bucked and ....hed for quite a while about "being put in a nursing home!" I was mad for two weeks! Convinced myself that I was being put out of sight therefore out of mind. Nobody cared anything about me anymore! Nobody would ever come to see me in my "prison". Wah, wah, wah. I had just started dialysis. my body was a wreck from my kidneys dying, I had had two strokes and I could not care for myself. Someone even had to be with me at all times because not only could I not feed myself........I was having major hallucinations and kept wandering out of the house at night.

So here is probably what is going to happen with Ginny. She's gonna love it! I say this because I have a suspicion that there is going to be physical therapy, occupational therapy, meals served in her room if she so desires, and she doesn't have to wash her clothes or make up her bed. Her therapists (physical, occupational, speech etc.) are there for her. Yes they have other patients but the time they spend with her is hers only. There will be other folks younger, same and older than she is. They will have disabilities and stories waaaaaaaay different than hers.

I spent 6 weeks at this "awful place" and was sorry to leave.

Your job is to go there and look it over closely. If it doesn't suit you tell the doctor no you don't like this one, show you another one. Hold out for the one you like. Medicare will probably pay for it. But ask that so you won't be
    surprised.

Any, all or none of the above may happen. I was fortunate enough to have wonderful staff who helped me heal, walk and speak again. Can't say a lot about my typing skills anymore but ya' gotta give up something. LOL

I totally agree with Lulu!! Change is hard, but sometimes change makes things much better than you'd think!

Wow. You are a wealth of information and so kind to put it together to help others!

Very good advice about talking with the nurses/doctors!! Do it!! Ginny trusts you and needs you to be her advocate and if you have a better understanding of what's going on you can explain things to her better.

And if it's ok with the doc maybe you could bring in some seasonings or snacks that Ginny likes that she can add to her food. Or what about bringing her one of your protein shakes? Or maybe you could make or pick up some food for her as a treat.

If you had to be sick, at least you did it where you'ld have your puppers to make you feel better! I guess having the puppers was more important than any old list this time.

    Glad you're feeling better!

I had planned on getting some kind of wifi extender. Just need a little research first to find which product would work best for me. Melinda seems to think that we need better internet to fix it. I guess it wouldn't hurt. She's in charge of that part.
